TRIVIUM: Entire New Album Available For Streaming - Sep. 23, 2008
Florida-based metal band TRIVIUM is streaming its entire new album, "Shogun", on its MySpace page.

"Shogun" is scheduled for release on September 30 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was mixed in London by Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH), with Jeff Rose and Martin "Ginge" Ford assisting on engineering duties.

For "Shogun", TRIVIUM chose not to record in the familiar environs of their home state of Florida. Instead the band headed to Nashville, Tennessee to work with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS, STONE SOUR). The result is a monolithic album that crystallizes the band's sound and showcases TRIVIUM's finest elements. Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy is thrilled with the album, saying, "We made a cohesive, epic metal album that combines all of the ingredients of everything we feel we have ever done 'right' musically, while adding a new direction that the music called for. We had so much fun creating this album and hope our fans feel that energy when they listen."

"Shogun" track listing:

01. Kirisute Gomen
02. Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis
03. Down From The Sky
04. Insurrection
05. Into The Mouth Of Hell We March
06. Throes Of Perdition
07. He Who Spawned the Furies
08. Of Prometheus And The Crucifix
09. The Calamity
10. Like Callisto To A Star In Heaven
11. Shogun

Guitarist Corey Beaulieu and bassist Paolo Gregoletto of the Florida-based metal band TRIVIUM recently offered a track-by-track breakdown of "Shogun" while on a promotional trip at the UK office of their record label, Roadrunner Records. Watch the video at this location.

TRIVIUM will be IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson's guests on Friday, September 26 during Bruce's weekly BBC 6 Music radio program, dubbed "The Bruce Dickinson Friday Rock Show". Listen to the broadcast live via the Internet between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. (midnight) U.K. time at BBC.co.uk.

kinda gay. they want to be Metallica, but this album they went back to that whole "metalcore" sound. Last album was cool, this one is kinda typical and boring in comparison.

And they made the songs 8 minutes....is that what everyone is going to start doing now??

I'll give this a listen to see what it sounds like, but exactly what is with the album cover? All of the other ones were interesting, this one just seems bland. Let's hope it's not a reflection on musical direction.

This ain't metalcore. I would say this is just modern metal. And it sounds only like one band = Trivium. I think it's great.

what do you want to bet that Chimaira's upcoming album has 8 minute songs as well??? I sense a new "modern metal" trend amongst bands trying to sound "old school" thrash.

It's heafys vocals that always stop me from absolutely just loving trivium.. They can fucking shred. But whether he's trying to sound like a hetfield/arya or whether he's screaming... and his scream is badass.. It's just boring.

Whatever I haven't heard the entire album yet.. Maybe it will pick up.

Definitely should have kept going in the crusade direction though instead of taking a step back.

But I still can't wipe out of my mouth the lingering taste of bandwagon jumping that these guys are permanently infused with. First they did metalcore, and now they're jumping on the new thrash bandwagon. Zero innovation. It's all be done before. It might be solid-enough metal, and it might be good for a few listens, but unless I'm hearing something remotely original or new and interesting, I'll move on quickly.

okay fine, forget I said the term "metalcore". I was just trying to say that their last album was cool, and different, and this one they just took a step back to their old style which just groups them back with all the other million bands sounding the same way. It's boring.

I also agree with the above points that the vocal melodies are what ruined the album.

For those people who think the crusade is trivium's best album, yes it is good but I have 6 words for you: this world can't tear us apart.

I agree that’s it’s a step back vocally, but musically they have improved a lot.

The band is just too good for the metalcore vocal style…. they realized that vocal style wasn’t helping and made “The Crusade.” and won over an older crowd, but in the process alienated a lot of the younger fans that loved their first two albums and that vocal style.

So I understand why they decided to incorporate more metalcore vocals. However, there are way too many of them on the album, and that kind of kills the album… This album is a combination of their last two albums with more technical music. It is going to be interesting to see how it is received.

The Crusade IS Trivium's best album. Shogun is the 2nd best. The first 3 (Including 'Trivium') aren't that good with the exception of a few songs. If only Shogun had been more like The Crusade. He clear voice is better than when he screams.

Ever since Master of Puppets, every metal band in the world seem to start their albums with a clean acoustic intro before it gets "heavy". And.... surprise! Trivium start their new one that way too.

Everything about this band is so predictable and lame. Couldn't be more generic. And the singer sounds like a douche.

If you wanna listen to some good metal... try the new Gojira. Or you can go for the real deal and listen to Death Magnetic instead of these wannabes

I don't really get what half of you mean when you say it's a step back. It couldn't sound further from Ascendancy, it sounds more like a development of The Crusade.

Excellent album. It's a nice blend of vocals from The Crusade and Ascendancy/Ember to Inferno. The guitar is sick as usual. Can't say enough about this album.
