Columbus, Ohio-based black/death metal cult band ACHERON have posted the following message on their web site:
"Let it been know that ACHERON is not a Church of Satan-linked band anymore. Vincent Crowley, who formerly was a Magister/Priest for their organization, resigned back in 2000. ACHERON in no way indorses any type of organized religious groups. The band stands for the dark side of life and resonates to a Predator-like kinship with nature. If anything, the modern-day ACHERON is a horde of heathens, spreading their unholy music to the hellions of mankind. Fuck ALL religions! They are the roots to all our problems. The Archetype of Satan = The Self… Heathen = Our True Self. We are the Devils of this world!

"ACHERON has been working to get their new music down solid for their next full-length album 'Sanctum Regnum: The Predator Manifesto', which will hopefully be recorded sometime in 2005. It will be a very apocalyptic concept album. Some of the song titles are 'Godless (We Are Gods)', 'The Apocalypse', 'Might Is Right', 'Rise Of Rebellion', 'I Am Heathen', 'Millennium’s End', 'The New Age' and 'Anno Armageddon'. The band has not signed a contract with any label yet, so more details about this upcoming album will be given in the future.
"The band is also putting together an upcoming DVD which will be called 'Acheron - 17 Years Of Pure Hell', documenting the band's 17-year history within the underground scene. The DVD plans to feature commentary from band's founder Vincent Crowley, along with live performances and interviews with members and ex-members, fans and supporters of the band. Work on this project will start in early February. No tentative release date."

Nonsense and contradictions aside - these guys make decent music.
I've never cared about what a band's beliefs or gimmicks are to get fans - if they sound good I listen to them, and Acheron sounds good.

Every extreme metal fanatic and basic/traditional metaller knows .
Acheron plays metal in the true sense...ala, Nocturuns, Death, Bolth Thrower, Incantation, ...etc..
Ricky want it to seem that this band is like Green Jello or Gwar or perhaps a MetallicA type of sell - out band.
But if you are a metal fanatic, Acheron early/ Vintage CD's are worth perphaps on $50 - $ 75.00 on ebay...Not over the $100.00 mark for sure. They are not Razor's " Exectuioner Song " Reborn Classic Pressing or Exciter's " Heavy Metal Maniac " RoadraceR pressing. But at the same time, they are not some band that added to Death Metals overstaturation problem, circa 1994 -present.
Heathen and Satanist, should like this bands savage factor to there brand of Metal mayhem! If Possessed " Seven Churches " and Death's " Scream Bloody Gore " are still classics in your collection and part of constant heavy rotation, with Morbid Angel " Abominations of Desolations" and... " Alters of Madness" "Blessed are the Sick" "Covenenant" "Domintation" "Entangled in Choas" "Formulas fatal to the Flesh" "Gateways to Annihilation" "Heretic"
Acheron should be on the wantlist also, if you have say $ , $ 200 or 300 - $500 for your weekly CD / Concert buget .
Acheron are a good investement is you are a metal fanatic or just a casual Iron Maiden or early Metallica type of baisc/traditional metal, non - critical type of consumer.

Great band. I used to think they were boring, but when i finally got into them i really started apprieciating them and i love them now. Plus Vincent Crowley always uses great musicians, Richard Christy, Tony Laureano, Michael Estes and many other great ones played and recorded with the band. Long Live Acheron!

It never ceases to amaze me about BLABBERMOUTH. A band has a type-o error and BOOM let's attack! You guys are lame.
ACHERON has always been true to what they are about. They never said they left the whole Satanic idea, they just said they are more opened minded about other concepts of the darkside. I don't believe the band ever stated they weren't into Satanism anymore.
As for the band not being able to fill a club in their own town, that is bullshit! I have an ACHERON bootleg from a place in Columbus called the HIGH FIVE where they have a packed house and people really getting into them.
And I talked to Kyle at a recent INCANTATION show and he said ACHERON is still alive and making blasphemy! (By the way, thanks for selling me the killer ACHERON shirt, Kyle!) He mentioned their next album was being worked on and it won't let ACHERON fans down. FUCKING A!!!!
