Scar Symmetry - Symmetric In Design
James LaBrie - Elements Of Persuasion
Scent Of Flesh - Become Malignity
The Absence - From Your Grave
Sonic Syndicate - Eden Fire
All Shall Perish - Hate Malice Revenge
Grimfist - 10 Steps To Hell
Divine Empire - Method Of Execution

Paths Of Possession - Promises In Blood
Hypocrisy - Virus

Of course, I still have a lot I have on order like Dragonlord, Hatesphere, Bolt Thrower, Covenance, Gojira, Hate, Purified In Blood, and the new Gorefest. I'm sure at least a few of those will be on my list.

2. Dino Cazares: U2's "How to..." came out in 2004 (late November, but 2004 nonetheless)

Lots of good stuff came out in 2005, no need to list last year's stuff.

Roadrunner's site had this up last week, and it's just now getting over to Blabbermouth? They sure hook each other up when it comes to reviewing RR releases, you'd figure they would get news quicker.

Most of those lists are terrible, but I guess it shows the direction Roadrunner is heading these days.

If your lists does not include at least most of the following, then you are an asshole, or you haven't head it (read: go buy it!):

-Exodus "Shovel Headed Kill Machine"
-Opeth "Ghost Reveries"
-Nevermore "This Godless Endeavor"
-Corrosion of Conformity "In the Arms of God"
-Clutch "Robot Hive/Exodus"
-Bruce Dickinson "Tyranny of Souls"

Don't be an idiot and comment unless you've heard all of them. I made the mistake of omitting the new Exodus, the magnitude of which dawned on me by the time the riff from "Raze" hit me in track #1.

Sorry, BlackLabelAxe, not all of us have the same tastes in metal. I have never been a fan of Clutch, Bruce's solo material, COC, or Nevermore but that doesn't make me an asshole nor do I see the need to spend money on them.

You have a good list there, it's diverse, but keep in mind that not everyone is going to agree with you.

And yeah, anyone who picks THEIR OWN BAND as an "Album of the Year" should just have their ego checked or their head examined. I actually like when readers (like us) post their favorites rather than professional musicians because there's more of a genuine love for the CDs they're picking instead of some guy just picking his favorite bands, friends or with THESE lists, picking THEIR OWN stuff!!

I usually don't buy music DVDs...in fact, the only ones I have are Opeth's "Lamentations," and Megadeth's Behind the Music. I used to have Iron Maiden's "Raising Hell" but I lost it. I actually wouldn't mind seeing "Some Kind of Monster," even though I don't like Metallica much at all these days, just 'cuz it's something mildly intriguing.

Normally I'd rather have CD's than DVD's but there are a few I'd be interested in getting--any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is this all based on personal taste?

If so, why in the FUCK would I care what you think? Explain this to me...????

And if I care what you think, why wouldn't I care what everyone thinks? Cuz if that's the case, then everyone would probably not even have "your" groups on their TOP 10,000.

All these list show is everyone has their own opinion and everyone should respect everyone's opinion and just listen to the music.

This bullshit of "your list is wrong because you forgot this group or that group" is kiddie shit. Get over yourself...this isn't like Fantasy Sports...you have nothing vested in these bands...you can't even root for them to do anything of real merit...everything is based on taste.

So the next time a bunch of unknown musicians (or known) put out some list of their faves, take it for what it is...THEIR TASTE, Their opinion...and that's it.

Unless you are 14 years old, just because a group plays songs you like or likes other groups you like, doesn't mean they will think the same way as you... and you certainly shouldn't think the same way as them.

New metal/hard rock is too much of a gamble for the cost. You never know what disappointments await you in songwriting, production, stupid lyrics, lame riffs, etc. I remember spending over $100 for a Century Media mail order only to end up not liking any of the discs as time went on. Out of 10 metal discs, I usually like about 1 or 2.

So, I made a pact with myself awhile back not to buy any CDs that were recorded after about 1979, unless it's from the glory days of thrash. It's been a good rule of thumb, but I do like the new Akercocke that I got for free.
