WAYSTED To Open For NAZARETH In Leeds - Jan. 19, 2006
WAYSTED, the reunited semi-obscure mid-'80s British heavy metal outfit led by UFO bassist Pete Way (hence the spelling of the group's name), will open for NAZARETH at The Irish Centre in Leeds, England on February 14.

WAYSTED's comeback CD, "Back from the Dead", was issued last year via Majestic Rock Records.

Waysted were (and probably still are) an excellent band. They opened for Iron Maiden in the UK back in the day, with Andy Parker and Paul Chapman (both also from UFO) in the line-up, because Steve Harris is a big fan of Pete Way (and bands where bass players are the driving force - see also - oh dear - Golden Earring)... anyway, they had the entire crowd on their feet in Glasgow. Powerful, raw, energetic and melodic. They kind of lost their way (ahem) when Fin left, but he's back on vocals and between him and Dan from nazareth that's a throat shredding bill. Happy now?

Nazareth is a great hard rock band (Hair of the Dog kicks ass!) and Waysted is great too. I saw them open for Iron Maiden in 1987 and they kicked ass.

Pete Way was SUPPOSED to be in Fastway with "Fast" Eddie Clark of Motorhead (hence the name Fastway).

I saw Fastway open for the Scorpions in 1984 and they were great. I have the 1st Fastway album (the one with Say What You Will) and the followup on one CD. Good beer drinking music!

Yeah Pete was in Fastway with "FAST" Eddie Clarke (ex- Motorhead guitarist) they we're a good rock band too bad they ain't together anymore. Alos Say what you will isn't their only album their S/T album is really good and they have a couple of albums that came after that.

Just because it's old doesn't mean it doesn't kick ass. Old timers like me will take groups like Waysted and Nazareth over the emo/nu metal/metalcore shit MTV tries to sell as "metal" ANY day of the week.

I'm not putting you down, BTW.

As always, just my opinion.

The last I heard, Dave King was singing for a band called Katmandu. I heard a few songs and they were good. However, this was about 15 years ago so I don't know what's happened since then.

I did a Google search and came up with this:

I only glanced at the story but it looks like he's moved away from metal.

Doesn't take away from what he did with Fastway IMO.

Seen Naz before. They kick ass in concert. Have one hell of a vocalist. Seen UFO a few times also. They always rocked so I can imagine that Waysted is along them same lines. Wish I could see it!

Fastway did the soundtrack to the movie Trick Or Treat....Ozzy was in this movie. I've never seen it though.
