Century Media will release an as-yet-yet untitled double DVD from Switzerland's SAMAEL on Jan. 27, 2003. The specially-priced DVD will include footage from this year's Summer Breeze Open Air festival, a 1996 Polish gig on the band's "Passage Tour", video clips for "Jupiterian Vibe", "Infra Galaxia" and "Baphomet's Throne", plus interview and studio footage from the recording session for "Passage".
As previously reported, SAMAEL will be embarking on a European tour with CATHEDRAL in late January.

It seems that Century Mafia are preparing to milk Samael for every last (euro) cent they can get before Samael leave the label.
The reason that Samael haven't been active in a few years is due to a leagal battle between them and CM. Basically CM is trying to screw them out of money. This isn't just Samael either, look at The Gathering. Neveremore are last very unhappy with CM.
Samael have just finished recording "Era One", Wheather or not it will be released under the name of Samael remains to be seen. They also had to finance the recording of this album out of their own pockets because CM wouldn't give one red cent for such unnessecary things such as making albums.
Hopefully Samael will find a better label and continue making awsome music.

Why can't tours like this ever roll through the states?

What a bullshit corporate label they've become! Samael aren't the only bands trying to get out of their contracts. Iced Earth couldn't wait to get off Century Media records, that's why they pumped out that cover album just to fulfill their contract. The Gathering, Nevermore, Samael, the list goes on. Because of shit like this I don't buy from Century Media's catalog anymore. Relapse has a better selection anyways.

I agree that Century Media screws bands over, but they still have a really good roster. Dark Tranquillity, The Forsaken, Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Entwine, Strapping Young Lad, Bloodbath, Shadows Fall, God Forbid, Borknagar, Sentenced, Arch Enemy, Carnal Forge, Dimension Zero, Nonexist, Scar Culture, etc, etc.

oh, and I do agree, Relapse has one hell of a selection.

sucks indeed. Not only that they screw their bands, their releases usually are of a poor quality as far as the package is concerned. THIS COMPANY SUCKS BIG TIME!! As far as the upcomming (?) CD of SAMAEL is concerned: I've heard that it is mainly elecrical music - no comparison to their milestones... However, on stage they are still smashing!

I totally agree when it comes to Century Media's poor packaging. The worst is when they re-issue something. They butcher the artwork. Ever see the original Candlelight versions of the first 3 Opeth albums? Century Media totally destroyed the artwork when they re-issued them for the states. They're just such a shitty label, the only thing they have going for them is a decent roster still, but those bands basically sign with CM because of the great distribution. If CM didn't have that, they would have gone under by now.
