METALLICA: Tenth 'Death Magnetic' Sample Posted Online

A tenth short audio sample of a new METALLICA song has been posted on the group's official web site: Windows Media, Real Media. Previously released samples: Sample #9: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #8: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #7: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #6: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #5: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #4: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #3: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #2: Windows MediaReal MediaSample #1: Windows MediaReal MediaMETALLICA has officially set Friday, September 12 as the "worldwide" release date for its new album, "Death Magnetic". The CD will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day the album arrives in stores. The band is offering the record for sale in numerous configurations, ranging from a digital-only release to a deluxe "coffin box" that will come with a bonus CD, a DVD, a T-shirt, guitar picks and other goodies. My ApocalypseMETALLICA will play two budget-priced shows in London and Berlin to launch "Death Magnetic", including the opening show on September 12 at the new 17,000-capacity O2 World arena in Berlin. METALLICA also plays London O2 arena on September 15, with tickets priced at £5 ($9), according to Billboard.com. Proceeds from both shows go to local charities. The concerts will go on sale to registered fans only with tickets priced €10 ($14).

The Day That Never Comes = Fade to Black 2. lame how they're just repeating the same old songs....or at least trying to. Just because 80's metal is popular again doesn't mean that Metallica has to re-write the Justice album and call the songs something different. They're trying but it's just not doing it for me. their song writing seems so planned now. just jam out some metal and stop spending a full year in the studio.

MY FAVORITE COLOR IS FIVE!!
I dont mind the other two tracks but "My Apocalypse" is pretty lame sure it has the guys trying to be "old school" by playing some thrashier and faster stuff but there is no point to it. The song lacks structure and form... it goes nowhere... the drums are terrible and the vocals not so good. The lost me on this one... the new sample sounds like "Load" era Metallica as well. Oh well still have some hopes for the new album but it seems like some people have pointed out these songs are like St. Anger in the point that they go on for 5 to 7 minutes with no real structures or hooks... just riff buffet it seems...

You guys kill me, first you bitch that it's not thrash, then when it is thrash you say "eeh, it's not as good as..." or "eeh, they're trying to be thrash again..."
The point is to not compare it to another record, but to listen to it as a new musical endeavor. They are not trying to rewrite those albums, they are making a new one. If you want 80's thrash in 2008 you can certainly go listen to Slayer (whom I love by the way) or any number of other bands that rewrite the same album over and over.

This is a huge fucking improvement from St Anger, No its not as good as Puppets or Ride the lightning, but its sure good,the day that never comes is a nice ballad, It does have a fade to black feel, but its nothing like it, its still good. My apocalypse is decent, come on, we're all glad to be hearing those old school sort of riffs, I think this is a HUGE improvement, these okes are old bru, you can't expect another 80's album because we're in the year of fucking 2008. BTW the bacon thing is really lame and Slipknots new song sucks dick.

These samples have already made me decide to say what I already felt, Metallica cannot write another great album.I don't expect or want a Master of Puppets pt.2-- but an album that has the same impact will never happen for one reason...
The times have changed, anger like other emotions used as themes in songs are now a commodity for labels.I mean the new Slipknot is more rehash than "new" and MEtallica is doing the same.Best way to change is to stop buying this drivel and by that I mean don't download either!!!

why do 90% of James' riffs have to sound like Black Sabbath? ..either at normal speed or twice the speed? why can't they write something original? and by original i dont mean songs like Ronnie (yukk , just puked a little).
the last time when they wrote something original and outstanding was when Cliff (RIP) told/showed James and gang what harmonies are and what they can do (ie Sanitarium solo lead in , To Live Is To Die bridge , Fade to Black outro) ...those were staples in Metallica's style that are unfortunately lost forever with Cliff's untimely death...i cant even begin to imagine what would have been like if he would have had all these decades of creativity , he was just starting to become an established musician .
One thing is for sure there wouldnt have been the cuban pimphat phases or the country western identity crisis , not to mention StAnker blender-music mishash disasters.
