IRON MAIDEN Pelted With Eggs During OZZFEST; SHARON OSBOURNE Calls BRUCE DICKINSON A 'Prick'

BLABBERMOUTH.NET has received a number of e-mails regarding last night's (August 20) Ozzfest concert in Devore (near San Bernardino), California, which reportedly included an on-stage appearance following IRON MAIDEN's set by Sharon Osbourne during which she called MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson a "prick." The following report was submitted by David Priest, editor-in-chief of On Track Magazine: "Last night's [August 20] headlining performance of IRON MAIDEN at Ozzfest in San Bernardino, CA rendered some interesting, if not disturbing, results. Although MAIDEN played one hell of a show, they were under attack from the moment they began their set. From the time they hit the stage, they suffered power loss on at least three occasions and they were continuously pelted with ice, bottle caps, and eggs, among other things. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson was even spit on by one attendee. He seemed to believe these occurrences were not by accident and insinuated that they had been planned from the beginning of the night [Download MP3 files of Bruce's on-stage rants at last night's Ozzfest: Bruce#1, Bruce#2]. He also encouraged the other audience members to break the arm of anyone that they saw throwing things their way. Upon concluding their performance, the emcee for the evening began to chant Ozzy, Ozzy while Bruce was still speaking. Bruce retaliated by chanting MAIDEN. After he left the stage, Sharon Osbourne took over the mic and informed the crowd that they absolutely loved IRON MAIDEN and their crew and stated that they were all wonderful but that their singer Bruce Dickinson was a prick and had disrespected Ozzfest since they began their stint with the touring summer festival [Download MP3 file of Sharon's anti- Bruce rant at this location]. This, of course, came as a shock to those of us in attendance and the there was ample confusion and speculation from audience members there after. As previously announced, last night's show marked the final performance of IRON MAIDEN on this year's Ozzfest. VELVET REVOLVER will be taking over their slot on the last remaining dates." Here are a few more eyewitness accounts, as submitted by BLABBERMOUTH.NET readers: ------------------------------------------------- "Tonight was the last show of IRON MAIDEN's leg of the Ozzfest. Unfortunately the rest of the tour will have that spot filled by VELVET REVOLVER. There has been some sniping and such going on during this tour between Ozzy's camp and Bruce Dickinson, but that had been kept for the most part away from the fans it appears. So, IRON MAIDEN is playing a 55-minute set (though they've played full shows on the nights SABBATH cancelled on this tour because Ozzy can't to back to back nights.) " MAIDEN is about to come on and right before a voice on the PA starts chanting ' Ozzy, Ozzy.' MAIDEN comes on and starts getting pelted with eggs from one area of the pit. Some dude has three dozen eggs. Bruce calls this out quickly. Next, during 'The Trooper', where Bruce waves a large British flag, some big dude painted red walks out from backstage with an American flag and on his back painted 'Don't f(#$ with Ozzy).' Tackled, he appeared off stage again. Then after Bruce declared 'You'll never hear MAIDEN on U.S. radio, MTV and certainly never see them in a reality show,' he says they will play 60 minutes, not 55. So, during two of their most popular songs (note: they are only playing songs from the first four albums, so 40,000 metalheads and idiots are going nuts), their PA and power goes off. Unbelievable, they handled it fine as almost if they expected it. They then do an encore and Bruce says something about the 'We the People' and nobody is going to stop them, not eggs, a guy spitting on them (until Bruce had him tossed) or a PA hoax and they play two more songs. Then they finish and are bowing and saying goodnight and the Ozzy voice comes on to chant, Bruce tries to change it to MAIDEN chant and then says, 'Are you as sick of this BS 'cause we are.' And they walk off. "THEN: Sharon [ Osbourne] comes on stage and asks for everyone’s attention and half ass praises and thanks IRON MAIDEN but say the singer Bruce is a prick and has been slagging the tour. 40,000 are stunned and start to boo and throw stuff, but most were stunned by the surreal moment. SABBATH then came out and did a good set like last year's with a much improved, yet hoarse, Ozzy. They started doing medleys thought, not good. But the rest, eesh." ------------------------------------------------- " ROB ZOMBIE was cool, SHADOWS FALL and MUDVAYNE are better live than on CD, SLIPKNOT aren't really my kind of band but they put on an entertaining stage show...lots of strange shit going on. " MAIDEN hit the stage to thundering applause, despite the fact that they are the ONLY mainstage band NOT to be introduced by some guy that comes on stage...and despite the fact that the idiot is screaming ' Ozzy... Ozzy... Ozzy' as MAIDEN's intro tape ( 'Doctor Doctor') is playing. "Some prick is throwing eggs up on the stage. It doesn't occur to me till later, but this person HAD to be planted in the audience, because there is NO WAY any fan could have snuck in 36 fucking eggs. They patted us down so good, I felt like asking for a cigarette afterwards. " Bruce is in fine rant form (got 5 or so tonight...LOL), and mentions how MAIDEN will never be on the radio, or MTV...or reality TV shows. He also mentions that they're supposed to do a shortened 55-minute set tonight, but just like someone sang that they can't drive 55, they can't PLAY 55....they're going to play their full show. "Maybe 30 seconds or so before 'Phantom of the Opera' is to end, the PA cuts out. A minute or two later, it's back on an they go into 'Run to the Hills'. This happens again 2-3 times the rest of the night. Once near the end of 'Hallowed be thy Name', and the crowd is so into it, we all decide to help MAIDEN finish the song anyway. We sang the rest of it for them, as we could just barely hear their stage monitors going. "In spite of all the problems with the planted egg thrower, the ' Ozzy... Ozzy...' asshole, and someone pulling the fucking PA plug, the band are on FIRE, and are determined to give us the best show possible. There was no big Eddie during the song IRON MAIDEN, just the walk-on Eddie. Is this how it was at the other Ozzfest shows? " MAIDEN come back out for their encore, and Bruce says that the band is back out there for one reason, and one reason only...after all the bullshit...it for us...the fans. They put on a fucking killer encore, and the crowd was fucking totally into it. " MAIDEN are on stage still, and taking their bows...and this cocksucker starts the ' Ozzy... Ozzy... Ozzy...' shit through the PA system again. Well, almost IMMEDIATELY, seemingly the entire crowd starts chanting ' MAIDEN... MAIDEN... MAIDEN...' over the guy... over and over... and we drowned that motherfucker out! Bruce was up there like an orchestra conductor, waving his arms as we chanted ' MAIDEN... MAIDEN!' "The band aren't off the stage 10 seconds, when that cunt Sharon Osbourne comes out and tells us she needs us quiet just for a moment. She proceeds to tell us how they love IRON MAIDEN and think they're cool...but then says that Bruce Dickinson is a real prick, and has been disrespecting Ozzfest from day one. That's all I heard out of the bitch, 'cause we all immediately went back into ' MAIDEN... MAIDEN... MAIDEN!" and she was completely drowned out after that. "I looked at my brother and said 'Let's get the fuck outta here,' and he nodded too. All the way out, we chanted ' MAIDEN... MAIDEN' ...and ' Bruce... Bruce...' ...and the crowd all along, chanted right with us. "Walking out the gates, we quickly noticed that we were FAR from alone...as a large mass of people were leaving right with us. Common statements made by others were, 'Fucking bitch, Sharon...fuck her.' I think she overestimated her popularity...LOL. All she ended up doing was thinning out the crowd of a large LARGE number of MAIDEN fans. Good fucking riddance, too! "It was best that we left anyway....since no band should ever go on after MAIDEN. I will never....NEVER spend another fucking cent on ANYTHING Ozzy does, unless he ever decides to stop being led around by the nose, by that fucking bitch, Sharon. "All that being said....I'll repeat that in SPITE of all that went on, MAIDEN put on a great fucking show, with what they had to deal with...and the crowd returned the love...and then some." ------------------------------------------------- "* IRON MAIDEN got pummeled with eggs on the opening of 'Murders In The Rue Morgue'* Second song 'The Trooper', someone (looked like that douche 'Big Dave') on stage and mocked Bruce with an American flag..... * MAIDEN's PA and amps were shut off four or five times during songs...... * Ozzfest apparently tried to cut MAIDEN's set length..... * Someone sounding alot like that Dave person who introduced BLACK LABEL SOCIETY was chanting ' Ozzy, Ozzy...' ( a pre-recorded loop, maybe?) while MAIDEN were still on stage... Needless to say, the crowd is getting pissed by now..... " Bruce was a total hero — a pro, said what he needed to say and MAIDEN still did their set and encore... Sharon then came out for what appeared to be damage control, thanking MAIDEN and the crew — and then said, 'but their singer Bruce Dickinson is a prick, he has insulted Ozzfest since he got here...' or something to that affect. The statement she made seemed to be condoning the poor treatment of MAIDEN..... "I as a fan have gained MUCHO respect for Bruce Dickinson and lost respect for the Ozz Inc. camp." ------------------------------------------------- "At the final night of their Ozzfest stint at Hyundai Pavillion in Devore, California, IRON MAIDEN were the victim of Sharon Osbourne's megalomania. Firstly, before they went on, Big Dave (or whatever they call the retarded streak of piss hanger-on who introduces Ozzy and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY for a living) tried to get an ' Ozzy' chant just before MAIDEN walked onstage. Then they had 35 eggs and bottles, which were 'planted' in the mosh pit just before showtime, which were then thrown at Bruce and the boys. Then when playing 'The Trooper' at the part when Bruce runs onstage dressed in military attire waving the British flag, 'Big Dave' ran on in a civil war outfit (kinda) and waving a huge U.S. flag. He had to be removed from the stage and then ran around the venue like a five-year-old schoolgirl. Next up was the fact that MAIDEN's sound was cut totally about five times mid-song and at crucial moments, complete power failure forcing them to abandon the songs. " Bruce was noticeably pissed about this and made a comment about being a true rock band and not a reality show band. Then he let it be known that the power cuts were deliberate sabotage as were the eggs. As MAIDEN finished the set and were taking bows, 'Big Wad Dave' once again starts the ' Ozzy' chants, which the crowd drowned out with MAIDEN chants. Then to top it off, Sharon walks onstage and says, and I quote, 'Look, I really love IRON MAIDEN but I have to tell you their lead singer Bruce Dickinson is a prick.' The crowd went wild with booing and chants and Sharon continued, 'We have done so much for them, let me explain myself.' She was drowned out in a sea of boo's and left the stage. "It was a debacle and embarrassing and the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen in my 20 years of going to rock shows. To actually of cut the power to the band and throw projectiles at the band in order to ruin their set was truly evil and dangerous and disrespectful to the thousands of fans who were there purely to MAIDEN. Sharon Osbourne is and evil cunt, I only hope she gets another batch of cancer after what she did tonight." ------------------------------------------------- From IRON MAIDEN's official message board: "About 10 minutes before MAIDEN came on, I was in the center of the pit a few feet from the front railing when a guy comes barging in from the right escorting 4 or 5 people. At first, I tell him to F-off because I thought he was trying to take my spot, but he said he worked for Ozzfest and showed me his passes. He also told me that Ozzy's daughter was with the entourage he brought with him. There were a few girls with him and one of them looked a little like Kelly Osbourne, but I couldn't tell for sure because all of them were wearing bandanas over their noses and mouths. After I heard her speak, I was pretty sure. At that point, I tapped her on her arm and said, 'I really liked you on the show. You were great,' to which she responded, 'Thank you.' There was no doubt at that point. The bodyguard who came with them starting getting chumy with us because he needed a few of us to help him protect the girls from the moshing that would start when MAIDEN came on. I saw the girls passing eggs, and I said, 'What's that for?' The bodyguard said something to the effect, 'You'll see. Something big is going down. You'll hear about it everywhere after tonight. It's all because Bruce Dickinson made some comments in Detroit dissing the 'Osbournes' reality TV show.' He also said that there were about 60 people in the pit who were going to participate in the mayhem. Most of them were wearing the same Ozzfest shirts. Before MAIDEN came on, they all started chanting, ' Ozzy, Ozzy...' I actually saw Bruce off to the left of the stage before they came on. His mike was on and he said something like, 'What the fuck?' — probably in response to the ' Ozzy' chanting. "When MAIDEN came on, eggs started flying and all these guys were flipping off the band. Nicko had to stop after one song to clean his set. Bruce was obviously very pissed. Thank God they continued their set. At one point, someone through a cup of corn with milk or something. It got all over Bruce, me, and about a dozen other people. Then the technical problems started. The sound went out on about three songs — 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Hallowed be thy Name', and one other one I can't remember. I could not believe what was going on. I was furious because I didn't want the guys in MAIDEN to think badly of the fans who love them. I do think that Bruce understood because the band continued to play the full set, and Bruce made comments to distinguish the fans there from the guys throwing stuff. Towards the end of the set, Bruce started yelling at a guy in the pit to my left about 10 feet. Bruce said he saw him throwing stuff and wanted the fucker out. It took a long time for security to get him out. The reason why is that one guy from Kelly Osbourne's entourage was holding down the guy security was trying to take out. Eventually security pulled both of them out. After MAIDEN's set, it was obvious that Sharon Osbourne was in on it, because she came out to say that ' Bruce Dickinson is a prick.' "Needless to say, it was insane. I was really pissed that MAIDEN got treated this way. I wanted to enjoy their set and instead got drama from egg throwing and songs cut short by someone pulling the power. Bruce was obviously pissed and the rest of the band seemed a little irritated. It showed in their playing too because some of the songs were sloppy, but of course you couldn't blame them given the situation."

ha ha, another chapter in the decline of the gayest metal festival on earth.... i feel bad for iron maiden, though it astounds me a band with talent would even deign to appear at a pusfuck of an event like ozzfest. there should be a survey done on bands who release albums after appearing at ozzfest and a scale taken of how much they've sold out then from previously.....slipknot, cradle, manson.......do u think these bands will be remembered fro their vol 3, nympthetime, or golden age???????

I'm sorry but we shell the money out for tickets to do whatever we damn well please at a concert, and if some dude wants to just stand there and watch then that his right he has earned by shelling all that money out for the Ozzfest ticket. It's not our privelage to see Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickenson, its their privelage to see us because we are what put them at where they are to begin with... Bruce and you seem to think that we are paying for the honor to see him.
And yes, he IS a prick, who the fuck insults crowds that paid like 80 bucks to see his band? Thats beyond insulting and I'm glad he got egg all over his face, and I don't even like Sharron.

Well i have caught ozzy and maiden and as far as im concerned maiden has still got the goods to rock the place down ticket sales have slowed down on this leg of the tour with velvet revolver and sharon is pissed at maiden for this,all about $'s screw sharon and come back to Canada Bruce there is no bashing of these guys here..we like good old heavy metal...

I would LOVE to see Iron Maiden on Gigantour. I bet Senor Mustaine would love it, too. They belong on a tour where their musicianship and legacy are appreciated. At any rate, they would be far more appreciated by fans going to see Gigantour than by the usual Juggalos, mullets and now emo kids I see at Ozzfest.
I only wish I was able to go to this year's Gigantour, but, alas, like most metalheads, I'm broke.

Maiden fucking sucks, and Buce Dickinson is a pompous rock star asshole with an ego the size of San Fransico. This is well documented over the years. I remember reading how he showed up at Metal Hammer HQ and trashed a journalists desk and spit on him, because he had given one of his lame ass solo albums a bad review. Only Mr. Dickinson got the wrong guy. What a fucking douchebag. Oh well, as long as he is content with being laughed at, I guess it's ok. It's funny to read all the conspiracy theories in here though :)

seriously stop being little bitches and grow up. The US has nothing to do with what happened, Sharon Osbourne did. She's shut down the power on Ozzfest before when she was pissed at Limp Bizkit, which was actually really funny. Bruce is known to have an additude but he is still absolutly the man and what happened sounds completley stupid and unprofessional on Ozzfest's part.
I love it when people say that it could only happen in the US and bash the American audience, when Maiden were supported by the fans obviously and everything negative towards them was coming from Sharon and her crew. Why did Maiden fans near him let this happen? Bruce DESERVES IT for talking crap about 40+ fans, but NO ONE Fucks WITH MAIDEN! One thing I kept seeing last night, was how fucking passive people are, specially when in large numbers!
Even exiting out of 1 lot to another lot, everyone gets in line, with cars running and moving 1 car lenght every 15 min.: How much is gas these days? Because of people traffic, Cops blocked car exit from lot 1 and the only cars moving steady were from the VIP lot! Maybe about 1.5 hrs later, exit from lot 1 was open and some people at the end of the line I talked to just ignored it. All they had to was back up 1 by 1 and be out of there in 5 min. I never moved my car, until cars were allowed out the blocked way. I even had to insist they let me out, as space was narrow and 1 car had to move sideways a bit! Some people just sat in their cars, not even caring to find out where traffic was (not) going to and what was the best way out.
If I ever had to ask/advice fellow Rockers/people 1 thing is GET INFORMED and INVOLVED and we'll take care of each other out there, whether it is a stupid fan, mugger, a fire, or the river coming down into town, YOU GOTTA SPEAK UP or we'll all perish if you keep quiet! Do it for those willing to listen!

I'm from the US, and my friend and I went to the first date of Ozzfest in Boston just to see Maiden and Sabbath. I don't give a shit what Bruce thinks about certain audiences, I think he's a great singer and I love Maiden and his solo material. The end. He's not a god, and it's not my obligation to love everything he puts out as an artist. I always go nuts when I see them live, and I've been a fan for over 12 years. Their show at Ozzfest was great, but compared to the other times I've seen them it wasn't as cool, only because their set was so short. Hearing about this bums me out, because seeing Maiden and Sabbath in the same night was amazing for me. I couldn't give half a shit about a single other band on that Ozzfest bill this year, but it was worth the money to see those 2 bands one right after another. Maiden should stick to headlining shows - I saw them 2 years ago in DC with Dio and Motorhead, and the venue was just as filled as it was for Ozzfest. Maybe it wasn't quite the younger audience that Maiden feels they need to be reaching.....but who the fuck cares? Everyone there was having an amazing time, and that's what music is all about anyway. People need to stop acting like everyone in the US is a disrespectful asshole - I recently came across a live review of Maiden in Terrorizer from a little over year ago - it completely trashed them for playing lots of new material, and called their set a "sales pitch" and concluded the review with "never again." And this is coming from a UK publication. Get your facts straight before blindly labeling a whole nation of metal fans.

And I've said many times on this board that I saw Maiden pick up the slack for Sabbath in Indianapolis this year and put on a great show. I don't back down from that. But Dickinson's disdain for America and the American audience comes through so clearly that all I can say is that Sharon's right to call a prick a prick. Reading all the interviews he's done on the tour, you can tell that Brucie-pooh thinks he and his band are too good for Ozzfest...but he certainly didn't mind hopping on the corporate band wagon to get some $$$ and some pub. well, i didnt see where the eggs came from but i do know there was more then one person throwing them because they were being thrown 2-3 at a time. also the power to the PA cut out 3-4 times, i dont know, i lost count in frustration.
it all doesnt add up....why would sharron sabatoge a band that 99% of the people there are totally into and excited to see? the place was going nuts over this band. I think someone else had to be involved.
and the emcee that started chanting ozzy, it was on a loop, it wasnt really him....someone had previously recorded it from earlier in the day when he was getting the crowd warmed up. you could tell it was on a loop because there was something said at the end of the loop (1/2 a fuck....like fuuhh).
who knows....maybe sharron will come out and speak on this sometime soon.

It does sound like the whole thing was planned to sabotage Iron Maiden's set. I'm sure she knew about it..otherwise she would have been pelted as well. Crowds don't care when they get to that point. It's nice to see that I don't have to regret my decision not to go to Ozzfest. I definetly would have loved to see Maiden, but all the other bands..not so much. At least I get to go to Gigantour today.
Comparison Gigantour vs. Ozzfest
Bands on Gigantour: Megadeth, Dream Theater, Dillinger Escape Plan Fear Factory, Nevermore, Symphony X, Life Of Agony, Dry Kill Logic and Bobaflex. Some great technical bands as well as some bands that have great stage shows.
Ozzfest: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, BLS, Shadows Fall, Rob Zombie, and 5 other emo or nu-metal bands.

Pay the $40 and see Gigantour it's more worth it then spending $100 and seeing 1 or 2 good bands.

I cannot believe this. Maiden got a great reception at Ozzfest when I saw them here in Pittsburgh and performed a great set. Something funny is going on. Sharon had to be behind it. If you don't think so,you're head is in the sand.
She should be thankful as hell that Maiden was on tour with Ozzfest. Many people I talked to at the show said that Maiden was their only reason for going. If Maiden hadn't been on the bill,their attendance would have suffered. I probably wouldn't have gone,not that I didn't like any of the other bands.
It's the fans that paid the ultimate price for this. Maiden has expressed reservations about touring the US anymore. I wouldn't blame them for not playing here ever again.
I've read Bruce's critical comments about the US,and personally I think he's right. However,even if I didn't like what he said,he still didn't deserve what he got. I'm a fan of Ted Nugent's music,but not his politics. Should I throw shit at him?
Maiden SAVED Ozzfest on a number of occasions to fill in for an ailing Ozzy. The last thing Sharon should have done was organize an attack on them. How horrible. And she says she has nothing against the rest of the band,well she screwed them over too! Did Nicko like getting pelted with eggs? You think it was fun for the rest of the band to play under such conditions. You think all the people you paid to see Maiden liked what went down?

That Judas Priest didn't seem to have ANY problems at the 2004 Ozzfest, but it's been horrible for Maiden. The bottom line is that Bruce needs to keep his big fucking mouth shut, and more importantly Sharon needs to be professional about it and not disrespect the frontman of the best band on the tour to the audience. What a clusterfuck this Ozzfest has been! My show was not only postponed but outright cancelled (Somerset, WI) and I'm actually kind of glad I didn't have to witness this embarassment of a tour...What a joke.

I just think it was stupid for Sharon to sabotage their own show like that. Considering everything that happened on Ozzfest I'm glad I got to see it when I did. I really lucked out.

I would never do ANYTHING disrespectful to ANY bnd while they were on stage and I don't appreciate you generalizing the entire country because of something a few assholes did at a couple of shows. Do you know why people blame the US audiences? Because it is the cowards like you who FEED those fucking vampires. And the same thing with Velvet Revolver. Whoever thinks this band is a honest band playing honest music should kill himself. This is a pre-planned, pre-programmed, pre-scripted "band". If you people think they are as good as Maiden you gotta kill yourselves.

talk about last show pranks, that was OVER the top, but it's obvious it was a little more than a prank. Even when Metallica toured with Slipknot in Europe, Metallica's last show prank was just to go out on stage with a bunch of dopey ass masks and make fun of them in the middle of one of their songs. They never fuckin' cut out their power during one of their best, high energy songs! god, what a bunch of assholes. But one thing that made me smile is where everyone said that the Maiden chants drowned out the Ozzy chants and they drowned Sharon out so she got off stage. I'm glad people left after Maiden.

Big Wad Dave is the gayest emcee I have ever heard.The sound was fucked up for Black Label Society as well and In Flames only played a very short set.Iron Maiden was the best for sure and Bruce Dickinson handled the lame stunt Sharom Osbourne pulled.the people who threw the eggs at Bruce were in the reserved section luckily for them because if I or anyone around me saw this shit happen we would have beat that man to a pulp.Last years Ozzfest was way better.Big Wad Dave should stick to emcee'ing the anger management tour it seems he relates better with the hip-hop crowd.that guy was garbage.

1. I have always liked Iron Maiden. I think that they are still a good band who record good records.
2. I would never spend any amount of money to attend a big rock show, let alone a obvious lame ass cash-cow like the fucking OZZFEST no matter who played at it. Not putting down anyone brave enough to sit through a bunch of horrible flavor of the month music straight from the parking lot of any mall but I just can't handle being around a lot of people.
3. I sussed out a long time ago that I felt sorry for the person that used to be Ozzy Osbourne, and didn't think too highly of his wife, or whatever she is. If I was a brain dead shaking zombie, I would hate the idea of my wife exploiting me for money no matter how seductive the power might be.
4. I laughed a whole lot. I enjoyed the idea that grown adults felt the need to throw tons of eggs at a band, no matter if they did it on thier own, or if they were planted. Way to go!
5.. I enjoyed reading about all of the cro magnons and rednecks getting down on Dickinson for speaking his mind. I love reading about people who have a "love it or leave it, buddy" attitude about our country, no matter how wrectched it can truly be at times. We live in a cultureless void with no dignity. Keep it up, nothing amuses me more.
6. This is for the "love it or leave it" types:believe me..if I was in a position to leave, I gladly would.

....I gotta say I was there last night with good orhestra seats and the main perpitrator (the flag shit and the chickenshit and failed Ozzy chant) was that goofy fuckin' "Big Dave" guy, who is supposedly one of the main BLS people......it was COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!!
Maiden have some big fucking balls and turned it around to their to their favor anyway.....most bands would have buckled and cancelled the show or walked offstage (BLS anyone?)......being a "bad-ass" has nothing to do with lifting weights, talking shit or being abmormally tall. Maiden stuck to their guns and blew EVERYONE off stage last night, despite the problems.
One more thing, is Big Dave BlackLabelDave that posts here??? If he is it confirms that big goofy-assed PUSSY is actually as fucking stupid as he looks.....

.......one thing that is COMPLETLY fucking lame is the fact that the powers that be at Ozzfest would allow security to be undermined to that degree by letting the eggs in and letting some jerk-off jump on stage at a "POST-DIMEBAG" Metal show.
They will cry and cry about Dimebag, make music videos and sell the t-shirts, but they will undermine the precedures that would stop something like that from happening again.....

Fellow metalheads, let's not be naïve and think Ms. Osbourne hasn't thought to send her cronies to post on Blabbermouth, if she's willing to sink so low as to send people into the audience with eggs to make it look like the audience hates Maiden. Go back and look in the first few posts after this article and you'll be able to pick them out. It's part of a pattern on this whole tour, starting right from the infamous Japanese T-shirt. And what we're seeing now is a campaign to inflame American audiences against Maiden. Think about it – the American flag on stage, and then some carefully crafted posts on this site about Maiden's anti-Americanism, which is pretty poisonous to an entertainer in the current climate in the US. I'm still trying to figure out what's un-Amerrican about having a British flag on stage, especially when the headliners of the tour are themselves British. It also bears pointing out that there are a ridiculous number of loyal Maiden fans in the USA, myself among them.
And I also have to say this. I try to be even-handed about my reactions to criticisms but the "Americans are ignorant narrow redneck religious zealots" stereotype has about run its course (and again, Sharon is using it to her advantage here to drive a division between Maiden's fans). Next time you have a knee-jerk reaction and think "typical idiot Yanks", remember the Yank on Blabbermouth (i.e. me) three of whose best friends are an astrophysicist, an evolutionary psychologist, and a concert pianist (and between us we speak 8 languages) and b) ask yourself why your stereotyping is any better than, say, anti-Semitism.

Frankly, most fans were just confused about all the outages and disruptions. I thought the best part was when they cut off the power during "Hallowed be Thy Name" the entire crowd sung the abbreviated lyrics. It created a good moment.

Bruce pissed me off with his complaing of American audiences, but in no way am I going to abandon Maiden. This shit was uncalled for. I never had any desire to go to Ozzfest (except the first one) and I am glad that I am being proven right for my reasons. Metal bands need to start boycotting this event, stop paying to be on it and stop taking the invitation. Metal fans need to stop attending.
Sounds to me like it was planned, how can someone get all those eggs in there?

I was there last night and ive seen posts with negative comments toward the crowd and that is ridiculous because the crowd was totally into maiden even chanted their name over some retarded ozzy chant audio. the ppl in the crowd throwing eggs were obviously planted so its idiotic to blame the crowd at all for anything. He's been at evry gathering that I was present at where BLS is concerned. I think he may fance himself head of security or something when all he does is position himself by the craft table and scope on the meatballs. Remember the ones from the video shoot dave? good huh? Next year, Osbourne will still participate in Ozzfest, though only at a few of the tour's stops. "After 10 years, the Ozzfest's name and reputation has been established," the artist said in a statement. "It's time for me to move on and do other things."
Osbourne has suffered from unspecified throat problems during this year's tour, requiring Black Sabbath to skip three appearances and Iron Maiden to step in as the headliner.
Another show originally planned for Aug. 7 at the Float-Rite Amphitheater in Somerset, Wis., was rescheduled for Sept. 10 and will now serve as the last date of the tour.

"We are changing the format of the festival next year and Ozzy will be going into arenas for a while. Because this outside business is just knocking the (expletive) out of him in the summer," Sharon says.

and
8/28/05 Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre San Antonio, TX (following 8/27/05, Cynthia J. Woods Pavilion, Houston, TX)
Under Doctors' orders, these shows should be postponed. Currently, there is no official word on what will happen. Stay tuned!
I could find no further info on Ozzfest.com, other than confirmation that he will be limiting his appearances at future Ozzfests. Ozzfest won't be the same without you, Ozzy!

It's already obvious from eyewitness accounts, that it wasn't fans who did this. It was people in Sharon's asslicking entourage. I agree with alot of what Bruce has said about touring over here and I live here. Nothing he has said is "Anti-American", so shut the fuck up and grow up. I love our country, but face it.....Bruce is right. I guess the truth hurts. Turning off the power, throwing things at the stage, and shouting over the PA while the band is on are each much worse things than ranting or talking (especially the tame things Bruce said anyway).
Neither Bruce nor anyone in the Maiden camp tried to sabotage anyone's performance.
Who is right? Who is wrong? Basically, which is worse: trying to sabotage a show while the band is on versus speaking your mind.

I am a BLS fan (believe it or not), they rocked yesterday......but having that dude wearing the BLS vest......y'all should take it away from him. Zakk would be a stand up guy if he would step up on that.......that was the lamest stunt(s) I've ever seen at a show.

If you read all of it, you would notice, 10 minutes before the set, Ozzfest Employees came out into the crowd with eggs. Not a bunch of "idiot Americans", but dipshits that work for the tour. Ozzfest and Sharon was trying to sabatoge things. Fuck Sharon, Fuck Kelly, and fuck the rest. Too bad Ozzy's name is written on it all. I hope Maiden tours with Priest, or some other good band, and shuts ozzfest down for good.
