MEGADETH's New Album To Include LED ZEPPELIN Cover - Oct. 6, 2006
According to Eddie TrunkVH1 Classic VJ and host of "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FMMEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has confirmed that the band's upcoming album, "United Abominations", will include a cover of LED ZEPPELIN's "Out on the Tiles".

Mustaine previously told MTV.com about the album's initial recording sessions (which were held at Sarm Studios, outside of London), "We rented [LED ZEPPELIN drummer] John Bonham's drum kit and recorded at a studio in [PINK FLOYD guitarist] David Gilmour's house, which was great."

"The kit is the only one that's available in the world to rent," drummer Shawn Drover added. "Dave surprised me with that, which was pretty incredible because I didn't even know it was possible to get Bonham's kit to rent for anybody. So I incorporated the bass drum and his floor tom and a snare on the kit that I use in the studio, and that was really inspiring. We played in the middle of nowhere and it was just a really cool vibe."

"United Abominations" is scheduled for release in early 2007 via Roadrunner Records. Mustaine recently told Gary Graff of Billboard.com that the album, which he's producing with Jeff Balding, "has a lot of variation on it. It's got some surprises, but there's a really old-school vein to it, I would say." The group has been careful not to rush the album, either, holding sessions in London, Los Angeles and Nashville since earlier this year.

"We're taking our time with this one," Mustaine said. "It's a great feeling to make a record and not have our feet held to the fire. One of my heroes growing up was KISS, but they really frustrated me 'cause they would put out a record just about every year. I couldn't figure that out. I pretty much have a cycle of about 18 months to 24 months between records. I just can't put them out any quicker than that and feel comfortable about them."

Given Daves drug history, it would be hilarious to hear him cover Dazed and Confused. Either way, they still kicked ass last week in concert. Proving he still has it compared to other 80's thrash (turned rap/country) bands.

just CANNOT be covered by thrash bands, or most any band for that matter. Never do the songs justice.

I don't like it when bands put a cover or two on the album. It dilutes the identity of the album. It almost never improves the album overall.

Not a big fan of Zepplin either. Couldn't care less about almost their entire catalogue.

Sorry. I'm a metal fan, not a classic rock fan.

If you want to listen to Jack Van Imp or some other televangelist you can just turn on the TV and save your money from the CD.

Just because he is a recoving addict doesn't require that he has to become a bible thumper. He needs to get real for me to return as a fan.

How does what Dave is doing with the new album constitute "Bible thumping"? Lots of people don't like the U.N. And as far as I know, he doesn't even like George Bush. He simply liked Kerry less in the last election.

Besides, welcome to 2 years ago.

Dave makes no secret of his distain for entertainers who speak up against Bush. (Agreed that Kerry wouldn't have been any better for that matter) But a person can't tell others to "shut up" and at the same time make political and religious statements. Such as his dislike for the UN and politcians and then hide behiind God's plan is outlined in the Bible. Gimme a break its just a book of fairy tales.

I was so disapointed to read that interview where Dave maligned others.

At least bands such as Gorgorth and 1349 actuall believe and practice what they preach. However dreadful, now if they just had half the talent of Mustaine and the boys they would be truley deadly.

..is a MEGADETH album full of nothing but covers of ZEP, KISS yes whatever greatness from the old days before MEGADETH formed. All played in MEGADETH style, true covers with a MEGADETH edge to it! Taht would be so awesome! But that will never happen? Because the money would go to the songwriters and that would not be Dave, and you know how picky Dave is to write the majority of everything he puts out... But you know wow a cover album, i'd buy it! Awesome!
