YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Threatens To Kill Airline Passenger

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN threatened to kill a fellow passenger on a flight to Tokyo, Japan after the woman poured a glassful of water on the guitarist. The passenger, who had no prior contact with Yngwie, allegedly overheard Malmsteen making derogatory comments about homosexuals and decided to show her disapproval by emptying the contents of her glass on the hefty axeman. A member of Yngwie's touring entourage, who was traveling with Malmsteen at the time, had a tape recorder running and managed to catch Yngwie's reaction on tape immediately after the guitarist was "assaulted" by the offended passenger. You can tell from the recordings and from a knowledge of his past that he's always so arrogant this he would have been talking loud enough for everyone in first class, business class, and coach to hear what he was saying. Hell, even the people in the cockpit could probably hear his dumb ass.
I fly a great deal and would have certainly told someone mouthing off like that to fucking shut up - and not to defend gays either. Just because they're being obnoxious.

It has come to my attention(only about 10 minutes after hearing this tape) that it is an old recording...from 1996 most likely. No one in Yngwie J. Malmsteen's current entourage or band is called Barry...there is more info on this at www.melodicrock.com ....As for my opinion on the situation on the tape and on Mr. Malmsteen himself...The woman who poured water on Yngwie was very much in the wrong and hopefully recieved a stiff fine. Pouring water on someone is after all considered assault in many places. While I love and respect Yngwie J. Malmsteen, I must admit that his choice of words was a bit funny...especially because he has an accent. Having said that, I must say that Yngwie can say whatever he wants and be as arrogant as he wants, because he is Yngwie...and all of you roadrunner record loving mallfucks are slime beneath his shoes.

Aside from being a Malmsteen fan myself and I do not want to sound biased, but reality is, not many want to face the truth. If anyone out there with a good sense of conviction is confident about his/her own musical aptitude, they will agree that the reason so many metal/rock guitarists hate and bring Malmsteen down is of pure jealousy, laziness and lack of musical character and openness, especially the ones who do the same shred thing but do not want to be labeled as “Malmsteen clones”. I would like to refer to these as musical cowards. Yngwie has been known and constantly accused of being very egoistic, however I feel that these hypocrites are even worse.
As for the loud-mouthed consumers and masses who think they are such intelligent people, they simply get into communities, talk about who’s the ‘hottest’ or greatest like as if it is the easiest damn thing in the world (which reminds me, why not start composing and writing something yourself and see how far YOU go? If you have, ever noticed that what you are capable of doesn’t usually match even a quarter of what comes out of your own mouths about those artists out there?) , argue over senseless ignorant topics, but they themselves do shit on their own guitar playing.
I have always wanted to say this to these people.
If you have not done anything worthy of mention yourself then four simple words: SHUT THE FUCK UP. Stop making ignorant self-deluding remarks which will eventually lead to ignorant self-deluding mentalities (I know this for a fact, I’ve seen this happen too many times), insipid comments and incessant gossip and so-called “discussions” and spend more time improving on your playing and musicianship instead. You don’t have to be as good as Yngwie whom I know none of you (and me) will ever be of course, but come on, at least stay on the humble and enthusiastic side of learning.

And since then, little twats who have fancied themselves "guitarists" over the years. The fact is, the "man" is a has-been. Anyone out there who wants to dis on Yngwie needs to get a life. You can bash him all you want, but the man created a genre of music. No one else before Yngwie played the guitar like he did. Although his music hasn't progressed much since the 80's, he does what he does very well. The guy who was nitpikcing about Yngwie rushing needs to chill out - in the heat of a performance, things sometimes rush.
About this recording, I think it's just funny. Yngwie might have an attitude problem or whatever but everyone has their problems. You just have to laugh at it. I'm sure many of you in the same situation would cuss the woman out as well.

I agree with most of you guys that this was all quite funny indeed. Still, this "woman" was definitely in the wrong. After all, she assaulted Yngwie physically, whereas Yngwie just expressed some politically incorrect opinions. I think that "woman" misunderstood Yngwie. He was talking about homosexual men, not about Hillary-Clinton-style misanthropic lesbians, like our little watercasting gargoyle. Did you notice how low her voice was? She must be on testosterone pills or something. So, she is definitely a militant dike of the corporate kind. In my book, Yngwie was a real gentleman not to throw her off the plane, parachute or not. Like what many have already said, if you were just talking to your friends and someone just comes over and pours water in your face, don't tell me you would smile happily. That person was in the wrong, man or woman. From the way you said it, i could also tell you "get off your feminine-cry-righteous pompous ass" and be more focused on the situation, and not the woman.
And I still don't think you actually grasp the realization of my original message. Talk and talk away all you want. You're still not successful in your life. Don't you see? it's not a matter of who is a bastard or asshole. It's a matter of success in music. Yeah sure, u would probably say "well, i have other areas in my life and i don't wish to be succesful in music." Well, don't talk so much in here then. =)

Get a grip people, just because he's Yngwie, he's not entitled to do whatever he please. Ok, the woman obviously over reacted about something he did or said (the recording don't really tell), and she was wrong to pour water on him. I'd be mad too, sure, but I would try to find out why she did that (because probably she had a reason for it), much rather than starting to yell at her like a six year old. Yngwie just need to take himself less seriously, he's blown up like a hot air ballon ready to burst. Being the 'god' of guitar playing don't necessarily make you God, and you should not act as if it did. Like somebody said: if that is how you react when somebody pours some water on you, you fucking deserve it, and more aswell.
demon_driver - what kind of world would it be if only the ones that were really good at something were able to speak? Without critisism, nobody would get anywhere. Also, if the only way to be content with your life is to be a world-famous artist, then none of us would be happy. The only way to become happy is to accept your place in this world. If everybody were satisfied with what they had, everybody would be satisfied, right? Only some people just don't get it. They think they need to be best in everything before they can be happy. Those people never become happy. As for Yngwie, he probably never got all that he wanted. He tried hard, and he think he must be it all, and that's why he reacted the way he did - somebody made clear that he can be thrown water at too.

Some people are getting confused by this. His entire rant is after the woman dumped water on him. He can say whatever he wants in a private conversation. She wasn't involved. He was right to react the way he did. Any one here would be just as pissed off if some bitch you've never seen before poured water all over you.

Yngwie is funny.I really think the guy have some good runs and stuff,but play innovative(NOT playing the SAME baroq and roll all the time)music like,say Steve Vai,he will never learn,cuz the guy is so consumed with himself,that he destroy all creative thinking(I GUESS,I cant be sure WHAT the reason is.)
Its just when you have heard a recording from Yngwie 10 years ago,and then listen to him today,nothing has happened.Same stuff,same scales and runs,Harmonic minor scale alternated with Dim.scales.lol!
But okay,the guy can play,no doubt about that one,but the way he use that talent?That´s IMO a big shame.He could have made a revolution.Okay JUST when he came out,about 83-84 he actually was,but people quickly found out,that when you have heard one Yngwie tune,you have(generally) heard it all.
A shame.

If you guys would just accept the fact that everyone is jealous of the guy, then maybe we could come to terms. If some random did the same thing, do you think anybody would care? NO. hypocrits....... You should be ashamed of yourselves. Yngwie is one of the greatest guitarists to ever live - the only people that come close are people like Vai. Not satriani - that guy is a joke, no offence joe, but your just not in the same class as vai or yng. honestly.i dont care who you are, if something unexpected like that happend to you , you would react similarly im sure... as fare as yngwies arrogance , as a guitarist whos studied his style for 10 yrs, id have to say he has every right to be arrogant . He is truly the pinnacle of musical excellence in my opinion . His diverse fusion of the many scales is astounding . cut him some slack i say . the neo-classical metal "god" is human like any of us .

Im not going to comment on all the yngwie haters, But I personelly like his style, hes got the rock style to him. He likes
it, its him, thats why he doesnt change. Im sure if he wanted to he could, but its just not him. Dont just go on thinking that what he plays nowdays the way he does is similar to what he was in the 80's because hes "self-absorbed". Its not becuase of that. If you ever took the time to seriously think about your life and future you dont just cross your fingers and hope that it all works out. Yngiwe has to also think about his fans from over 20 years ago and nowday ones too.It doesnt matter if yngwie didnt change to what I call nowdays mainstream BS/childsplay targeted at 12 year olds. The guy worked hard and gave it
the best he had, and produced what Id call serious music which was a new Maximum for that time. The ideas as a guitarist hes put into his songs is great, how can you not like the classical phraseings which make you go "wow" and at the same time enjoy the feeling and emotion put into it. And hes stuff is not the same, similar but not same. And because hes not PERFECT in consistancy (the solo aspect)which all you haters out there argue about, that is what makes it interesting beacause its the spontaneousness of himself controlling it, giving a shot in a live environemnt, not afraid to express himself, express who he is, and he manages to pull it off. I mean how boreing would it be after nowdays listening to sooooo much music from every genre to be able to predict the next phrase or bar of music. I do admit that it seems yngwie has been using his notes and phrases like words /meanings, but what he trys to do is change them, while at the same time make sense by keeping the structure similar. As for Vai and satch, both are great, and I do admit they have a few good songs, mainly nice love songs done beutifully, but the majority of their stuff lacks the eneregy, just doesnt make you EVER jump up and down like they do in yngwies. Its much more lively and Yngwie puts more fun into music, there is just a wildness unlike the rest about the guy, and he also keeps his standards in music which is why he said Slayer was disgracefull. I personally dont like slayer, just not my type, that being said has nothing to do with the fact that i dont think it is suitable for every age group, (yeah show it to a grandma....gets HEARTATTACK) while generally speaking most of yngwies could
be suitable, his stuff isnt that out of the normal musically speaking. Nearly every starting guitarist nowdays would like to play like yngiwe, they each search for the diversity and their own "voice" on the instrument as this is just how the world is nowdays and being taught, and what better ways to get it than guys like this.
And who cares as to how yngiwe reacted about the water on shirt, just because it wasnt nice does not mean it is not valid, and besides its not like he killed her, was just all "talk" so relax and calm down. Yngwie is himself and he wont change for nobody, if hes happy with himself thats all there is too it. The guy knows what hes doing, so we cant say sh#t. Those that like him will like him, those that wont, simply wont. You cant turn another from black guy into white, or vice versa just because one prefers it. This is like two people arguing over peanut butter or chocolate spread. pick the one you like, but dont say anything bad about the one you dont like beacause they are both in existence thus both VALID. Yous are just looking for stuff to complain about, start off with complaining about yourself and trying to achieve what makes you happy, and god hope its not complaining.
