NEW YORK DOLLS Reunited With Producer TODD RUNDGREN - Nov. 14, 2008
NEW YORK DOLLS and legendary record producer Todd Rundgren have been reunited for the first time in 36 years. Rundgren will produce the DOLLS' new album at his studio on the island of Kauai. Production is scheduled to start in January 2009.

This is the first time the two have collaborated in 36 years since Rundgren originally produced the NEW YORK DOLLS' eponymous debut album, "New York Dolls", which included the classic songs "Personality Crisis", "Trash", "Jet Boy" and "Private World". Rundgren will be reunited with DOLLS founding members David Johansen (vocals) and Sylvain Sylvain (guitar, vocals).

"We're really excited to be working with Todd again," says David Johansen. "We're hoping to recapture the same magic on the forthcoming album."

The album, which is yet untitled, will be released on the Atco label through Warner Brothers. The Atco label has been specially re-launched. The NEW YORK DOLLS are one of the first signings to the label. The DOLLS will follow the release of the new album with a world tour in 2009.

..hopefullly David J will revert to Buster for a spirited rendition of "Bang on the Drum All Day." THAT would be hot, hot, hot.

The documentary New York Doll about deceased NYD bassist Arthur Killer Kane leading up to the reunion is a really nice piece. If you give a hoot about the Dolls -- all four of you BM readers who do -- and you haven't seen the movie, check it out. It's on cable a lot, I think the Sundance Channel.

I guess that "New Cars" gig didn't work out.

I'd like to see an Iggy & the Stooges / Dolls split bill...that would be sweet

Riotact666....who gives a fuck Rundgren produced / appears on Bat Out of Hell? The fact you even brought Meatloaf into a thread about NYD should earn you a boot in the ass!

...and Rundgren produced Grand Funk's We're an American band and Shinin' On albums as well!

NY Dolls are taking the reunion serious by touring and recording on a regular basis. I can't wait to see them at Irving Plaza NYC. Rundgren and NY Dolls will make studio magic and I'll be one of the first to get the new record upon it's release. Johansen's voice is street gutter, filthy RnR. I love it!

"Todd Rundgren, you're on notice!" - Stephen Colbert on Rik Ocasek's behalf when Ocasek guested on "The Colbert Report".

If you're Diana DeVille or a member of Candy-O and never found that episode funny, I can only feel sorry for you.
