HATEBREED Denied Entry Into Canada, Vancouver Show Cancelled

HATEBREED have posted the following message on their official web site:
"We would like to sincerely apologize to all of our fans in Vancouver who will not get to see us [Saturday night, May 8] due to the Canadian Border Patrol. Every other Customs Department in every other country in the world that we have been to welcomes us with opens arms yet somehow every time we try to enter Canada we hassled, interrogated, belittled and disrespected. This morning was no different. Our merch guy and stage manager/guitar tech were denied entry for no good reason. The women was quoted as saying, 'You're guilty until proven innocent.' Guilty of what??? Trying to go play a show? It was ridiculous. Then she had the nerve to tell us to go drop off our boys at a hotel and come back and maybe after 'extensive searching and questioning' that they would 'possibly' let us through. Well, for one. We don't play like that. No one is getting left behind just because some stupid bitch at the border feels like denying them entry and secondly. How the hell do they expect to go drop them and 'all of their belongings' off and then go all the way just for them to deny us again which she was basically implying she was going to do. We knew they would not let us through.
"The woman threw a fit when one of us answered one of her questions with a head nod. She blares out with 'You must answer me aloud, YOU CANNOT ANSWER YES WITH A HEAD NOD.' it's like what is up your ass bitch? It's a shame that people like this get put into positions of power. She told us she could refuse anyone for any reason at all and that it was all at her discretion. THAT IS LIKE SOME NAZI GERMANY SHIT FOR REAL!
"It's fucked up that they do this to so many bands because they are hassling people for the sake of hassling them.
"We love our fans in Canada we went out of our way to book this show! We drove all night from Portland just to do one show in Vancouver and this is the bullshit that they throw at us. Now not only have we lost a lot of money but we have disappointed our fans all because of some horse's ass at the border. There has got to be a way to change the treatment and policies.
"We will do our best to make up this show and hopefully you all can help us change the system so that all bands don't have to deal with this harassment. We've contacted the Consulate, the Canadian Customs Department and Immigration Office as well as our local Congressman to find out what we can all do. We will not deterred anymore and CORE ACROSS CANADA will happen we promise!"

I think that our borders are completely ass-backwards when it comes to who they let in... and I'm Canadian! They'll let in terrorists and gangsta rappers, but no metal bands... I'm glad I got to see Hatebreed a fews years back with Slayer, but this still sucks!
Trust me- from a guy who's been hassled at the border for no good reason a few times, our country is fucked in the head when it comes to priorities...

I'm a french canadian. I'm not stupid you know? I am a respectful person, and grew up in a society where we respect each other as much as we can. It would be useless to start dissing americans right now, and believe we, the temptation is there. Instead, I will just let go for now, because I know most of you never went to Canada, and never met a French Canadian in your whole (little) life.
When I first started to use Internet (we had mainstream high-speed internet access in Quebec long before the US, lol), I throught: "Great, this is the best thing that will ever happen to this world. Different parts of the world will be able to communicate and know each other." I was so wrong.
Why do people FEAR canadians and franch canadians in particular will remain a mystery to me. We are all human beings, dammit. I think most americans would feel at home here. We're not that much different you know? Except the fact that we speak french... and for your information, most of us speak english, too. We have a different culture, because we have a different history, basically. Story ends here.
I think most french canadians would just ignore the stupid comments seen on this board. The only thing I ask, is to think before saying comments that fuel hatred.

Canada has a really strict border policy. Where our things on one's record here in the States fall off after seven years, to enter Canada, everything shows up.. If you have a fix it ticket that you never cleared up from when you were 16, and your now 35, they wqill not let you in...
And remember this our frozen freinds to the North, although I agree that some of our policies are fucked, and we did go into a war that was pretty misleading, when your ass gets attacked by anyone, you for damn well the US is the first and only folks that are going to help your asses out.
HAtebreed fucking kills it, what was the last great metal band to come from Canada, Kittie? I don't think so....

I was just in Canada this weekend. I have been there about 4 times for 3-5 days. Border patrols are dicks, because they are kind of the equivalent of Eric Cartmen. It’s a respect my authorita environment. Both sides are rude basturds, acting like they have some godly power. It is a joke though because as I was passing the search place they were searching some fucking Boy Scout punks, while before I got through a fucking Arab right next to me just gets right in. Sorry but I think the guy with the turban is more of a concern than some little Boy Scout punks.

I grew up near the Canadian border in the US. i've lived in 4 countries and have been to about 25 different countries. I've had more bs entering the UNITED STATES than all other countries put together. I've seen US officials cut my little brother's stuffed iguana in half because they thought there might be drugs in it, I've had them translate boring letters in Chinese to my girlfriend, I've had them take my luggage apart, I've had dudes feel me up, I've had assholes ask me questions like "Can you explain to me what you were doing for 4 years in Taiwan???" like it's a freakin' crime. A good friend of mine lost his pickup going from Canada to the US because he picked up a hitchiker right before crossing the border--hitchhiker had a pipe wiht a little bit of weed resin in his shoe, dogs smelled it, my friend never saw his truck again. In my experience, going to Canada is about 50 times easier than coming back to the US from there.
I grew up on a little island in Washington State that has an international ferry that goes to Canada--some ferries go to the island I live on before they go to the US, and it used to be that you went through customs when you hit mainland US. They would ask you where you had come from, and even if you were coming from the the island I live on (which is in the US) they would search you if you looked like a metalhead, hippy or punk. One time, they were harrassing some metalheads in front of my parents, and my dad said "what are you searching those guys for? They came from the same island we did?" They responded by taking my parents car apart and leaving them to put it back together.
So, you won't hear me complaining about CANADIAN border officials.

I've travelled to the states 5 times in the last two years from Canada. Never have I had a problem going in. It's always returning to Canada that our car gets searched thuroughly for no reason whatsoever. Just two weeks ago the fucking Canadian border guards made me and my brothers stand in freezing cold weather in shorts for over 20 mins while they searched our car. It took that long for them to finally offer us a seat indoors, as the needless, fruitless search continued for another 20 mins. The stupid beach even had the gull to bitch me out cause i handed her a passport (the proper document for international travel) instead of a drivers licence, which i don't even have. Theses pricks are on a power trip and need to learn how to do their jobs properly before someone gets medieval on their uneducated little asses.

I went there last year.
Those assholes kept me waiting for two hours whilst they searched my bags, KEPT asking me if I had drugs on me, and generally pissed about being idiots. Who the fuck wants to go to Canada anyway? Those immigration cuntz should be taken down a notch. There is no justification for their stupid behaviour.

I waited for so long to see hatebreed and this is the bullshit that happens?They were giving $5 back at the door and a free ticket to see damageplan/drowning pool the next day so I went to that.And guess what?drowning pool didn't make it over the border!Not that I give 2 shits about them anyways.But damageplan was a good show,and free:)
