TAPROOT: New Album Release Date Revealed - Apr. 28, 2008
Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has set an August 5 release date through Velvet Hammer Music for the group's new album, entitled "Our Long Road Home".

TAPROOT recently posted a new song, entitled "You're Not Home Tonight", on the group's official blog.

The band's follow-up to 2005's "Blue-Sky Research" was reportedly produced by Tim Patalan and is the group's first album since parting with Atlantic Records in June 2006. They're also reportedly working on a DVD, but there's no word as to when that will see the light of day.

Bassist Phil Lipscomb previously stated about the new CD's title, "[it] is a unique and expressive tribute to our newly found collective freedom of creativity as a band, with no strings attached. It's a tribute to the casual and comfortable settings of being at home with friends and family — a place we love to be."

Check out footage from the recording studio below.

TAPROOT, which formed in 1997, is perhaps best known for its 2002 album, "Welcome". It included the hit singles "Poem" and "Welcome".

Blue Sky Research is an amazing album. I really didn't want to like them for the longest time - "Gift" I thought was mostly sloppy numetal and "Welcome" was way too obvious of an AIC ripoff.

Blue Sky Research, however, is gold. "Facepeeler" just rips and "Calling" was a great choice for a single. It's a shame it didn't sell more.

There is not a Taproot SONG or "Hit" by the name of "Welcome." Get your info right already! Jeesh...

You know what? I don't like Taproot. In fact, I think they represent just about everything that was wrong with "heavy" music between 1999 and about 2002. That being said, I think it's incredible that a shithouse band like this has survived as long as they have. The fact that they made TWO records is insane, but the fact that they've managed to stretch out a trend that died over FIVE years ago into a 4 record career is insane. So, even though they suck, they are defying the odds... hell, more power to 'em. It's rare to find a success story like this in the music business these days, so there's a lot other bands can learn from them. I'll be damned... TAPROOT's about to put out another record... ain't that some shit? Hahaha...

Oh, and the fact that nobody on Blabbermouth has come out, guns blazing, and relentlessly stomped the dogshit out of this band is also an anomaly. Insane...

taproot is amazing live

"facepeeler" rocks

their songs with bob marlette are pretty good ;)

there other songs are also pretty good

i don't know why someone would feel the need to bash
this band, who survive with one guitar and very little BS hype

COMMENT | wow, still around????

the only song of theirs ive ever liked was 'poem' and that was 5 years ago.

this type of bland nu metal is the exact shit i can't stand.

Lyrics were very repetitive, but they had a good sound nonetheless. I'll take Taproot any day over Linkin Park, Disturbed, or Limp Bizkit.

Saw them with Evans Blue about 3 yrs ago, could care less about Evans Blue but really like this band.
I love Blue Sky Research but I think that Calling was a weak single. I have Gift but only listened to it a couple of times.Good songwriters, looking forward to getting this.
