Several tracks from former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Buckethead's upcoming album, "Enter the Chicken" — including the song "We Are One", featuring a guest appearance by the album's producer, SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian — have been posted online at www.myspace.com/bucketheadnfriends.
"Enter the Chicken" is scheduled for release on October 25 via Tankian's Serjical Strike label.
According to an official press release, "What makes 'Enter the Chicken' unique among all other Buckethead albums is the contribution of different singers throughout the body of work. Both producer and guitarist recruited some of today’s brightest musical talents to lend their voice including Saul Williams, Efrem Schulz (DEATH BY STEREO), Maura Davis (DENALI, BELLA LEA), Azam Ali (VAS, NIYAZ), BAD ACID TRIP, Maximum Bob (DELI CREEPS), Gigi, Shana Halligan and Ani Maldjian. When all was said and done, a total of 11 different vocalists specializing in musical styles ranging from opera, metal, rap, indie rock, grindcore, world and everything in between found their way onto 'Enter The Chicken'."
Buckethead will be embarking on the "Disney World to Disney Land Tour" in support "Enter the Chicken" beginning on October 21 in Orlando, Florida.

OMNIUM GATHERUM Guitarist Says New Keyboardist Is 'Energetic As A Monkey'
- Oct. 5, 2005
Guitarist Markus Vanhalla of the Finnish death metallers OMNIUM GATHERUM has issued the following update:
"OMNIUM GATHERUM is doing only two gigs at the end of this year, as we have to take a pause in composing material for the new album. These gigs are both Finnish indoor festivals — Rocklinna Metal Fest in November and Räntämetalli Icehall Metal Festival in December. This will be — by the way — OMNIUM GATHERUM's Icehall gig debut. Looking forward to that indeed! The festival highlights of the year were really the Party.San Open Air in Bad Berka, Germany, where we shared the same stage with our teenage (and nowadays, of course!) heroes CANNIBAL CORPSE, ENTOMBED and NAPALM DEATH. Also, the Jalometalli, Dark River Festival, Tuska after-party and Curium Metal Fest were great gigs for us here in Finland this summer! Lots of sweat, headbanging, loud crowds, party time, boozing and metaaaaal!
"We have also a new keyboard player in the OMNIUM GATHERUM crew: his name is Aapo Koivisto and he is energetic as a monkey on stage! A very great and welcomed spice to our camp! He has the right attitude towards keyboards in metal: 'Why would you need keyboards in a death metal band as there are no keys on the 'Slaughter of the Soul' album by AT THE GATES?' Haha! So there aren't going to be any symphony orchestras or massive dark metal synths on the new OMNIUM GATHERUM album, but only little tasteful synth arrangements on the bottom for the atmosphere.
"Our new OMNIUM GATHERUM webpage is also on the move and should be online in a week or two. At the time when you´re waiting new OMNIUM GATHERUM stuff to come, I think new OPETH, new EXODUS and new NEVERMORE are good CDs to satisfy your needs before our new album, haha! (That was a joke...) Cheers!"
OMNIUM GATHERUM's latest album "Years in Waste", was released in the U.S. in March via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Spirits and August Light" was recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki, Finland with producer Nino Laurenne and engineer Teemu Aalto.

CRYPTOPSY, ABORTED Check In From The Road
- Oct. 5, 2005
Montreal's CRYPTOPSY hit the road last week with SUFFOCATION, ABORTED and DESPISED ICON supporting their forthcoming October 18 release, "Once Was Not". Already requesting live performances of the yet-to-be-released songs, fans have been making the band welcome every night. "The tour is going extremely well, all the bands get along, and although we have had to reschedule a couple of dates due to the hurricanes, the venues have been packed!" says the band's unstoppable drummer Flo Mounier. "We've been out hitting hard and having a great time every night. It's exciting to talk to fans who have already heard some of the new material, the feedback is already great."
Commenting on their first North American tour, ABORTED's vocalist Sven de Caluwé said, "After a hard start, missing the first couple of shows, it's going really well. San Antonio and Houston fans were rabid, and we are looking forward to seeing more of you. The guys in all the bands — CRYPTOPSY, SUFFOCATION, DESPISED ICON — are really down to earth, and it's a great vibe among us all."
With this year's spring 2005 tour, CRYPTOPSY reintroduced their committed fan-base to Lord Worm, the band's original vocalist who rejoined the band in late 2004. "Once Was Not" demonstrates the licentious cohesion that years of touring with metal's leaders, performing at prestigious European festivals, and six full-length studio releases have given the band.

TESTAMENT Cancel South American Tour
- Oct. 5, 2005
Ricardo Batalha of the Brasil Music Press has submitted the following report to BLABBERMOUTH.NET (edited for clarity):
"San Francisco Bay Area thrashers TESTAMENT have announced the cancellation of their appearance at the Live 'N' Louder Rock Fest, set to take place October 12 at the Estádio do Canindé in São Paulo, Brazil.
"After pulling out of the October 15 concert in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the band have now decided to call off their entire Latin American/Mexican tour, which was to include stops in Brazil, Chile and Mexico. The reason for cancelling the tour, according to the band, is that a new guitar player was not found in time for rehearsals, and all options were exhausted.
"The band had first announced 'Metal' Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD, PAINMUSEUM, SEBASTIAN BACH) as the fill-in guitarist for the tour. They then 'replaced' him with Derrick Ramirez, who had previously played with the band when they were still called LEGACY.
"When it became clear that Derrick would not be able to do the tour, the festival organizers offered to find TESTAMENT a Brazilian guitar player to replace him, going as far as to suggest a few names. However, the band's management wasn't interested and the group refused to make an effort to come down and do the tour. Meanwhile plane tickets for the band had already been paid for and TESTAMENT's money had already been sent.
"This is the third time TESTAMENT have cancelled their Latin American tour.
"To replace TESTAMENT, German thrash metal icons DESTRUCTION have been recruited to play the Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre dates. As a result, DESTRUCTION will now kick off their world tour in South America in support of their acclaimed new album, 'Inventor of Evil'."

THE FIFTH SUN: 'The Hunger to Survive' To Arrive This Month
- Oct. 5, 2005
Minnesota-based melodic death metallers THE FIFTH SUN, whose current lineup includes Swedish drummer Patrik J. Sten (PASSENGER, ex-KEROZENE, TRANSPORT LEAGUE), have issued the following update:
"We will have the [second] album ['The Hunger to Survive'] back from manufacture in a few short days. 8-page full color booklet, she looks lean and mean! T-shirts, Long sleeves, Hoodies, and hats have been ordered and will arrive in a week or so.
"Tentative release date for 'The Hunger to Survive' is October 18th, although we may push it back to October 25th, depending on several key factors.
"We had been toying with the idea of playing a few shows in the Midwest, but due to Studio Fredman [in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Patrik is employed] being busy as hell, Patrik couldn't leave Fredrik in the studio all alone, so we will not play them. We will, however, be playing 20 to 30 selected dates in 2006, so keep an eye out for those dates. They will be announced here when they are confirmed.
"Last, but certainly not least, we have some great news!!! Patrik and his lovely lady, Maria, are expecting a new addition to the family on February 20th. We are very excited for them and you should be too!"
"The Hunger to Survive" was recorded at Studio Fredman and is the follow-up to the group's debut album, 2001's "The Moment of Truth".

YAKUZA Sign With PROSTHETIC RECORDS
- Oct. 5, 2005
Prosthetic Records have announced the addition of Chicago-based YAKUZA to the label's roster. The experimental jazz/metal quartet will be releasing their Prosthetic debut, "Samsara", in March 2006.
"Samsara" was self-financed, then shopped around to various labels in search of a partnership with a company that fully understood YAKUZA's foresight.
"Our love for music is the primary motivator behind the band while our desire to kind of push the envelope a bit is right behind it," commented singer/sax player Bruce Lamont. "We’re really happy that Prosthetic shares this same vision and is 100% supportive of it."
"Samsara" was recorded by Matt Bayles (ISIS, BOTCH) at Volume Studios in Chicago and hosts a wide variety of musical guests including pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm, Sanford Parker and Troy Sanders (MASTODON). "Samsara" is full of peaks and valleys, overly aggressive in some spots, mind-trippingly mellow in others. The contrasting soundscapes come together impeccably, creating one of the most all-inclusive albums since PINK FLOYD's classic "The Wall".
"We are not trying to be anything except creatively honest with ourselves," explained Lamont. "We are not trying to be a jazz metal hybrid band or whatever the fuck we got dubbed in the past. We really just do what comes naturally."

GLENN DANZIG Says OZZFEST Is 'A Corporate Buy-On'
- Oct. 5, 2005
DANZIG mainman/namesake Glenn Danzig recently spoke to MTV.com about the band's current "Blackest of the Black" tour, which features a lineup handpicked by Glenn himself: CHIMAIRA, BEHEMOTH, HIMSA, MORTIIS and THE AGONY SCENE, with DANZIG headlining. Former MISFITS guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein is joining him onstage each night for a special 30-minute set of MISFITS classics. The 22-date trek runs through October 29 in Los Angeles.
"It's something I've been working on for a long time, and we're finally getting to take it all over the place," Danzig said. "But I don't want it to be like Ozzfest. It's for bands that get ignored by radio and television but sell out venues that are either the same size or bigger than venues that, say, bands that get played a lot on the radio can't sell a ticket to save their lives. It's exactly like when DANZIG and SLAYER came up. No one would play us, but we would go in and sell out venues, to everyone's shock. The Ozzfest is a corporate buy-on, and this is my answer to it.
"The first year we did Blackest, it was SUPERJOINT RITUAL, OPETH, NILE, BEHEMOTH, LACUNA COIL," he continued. "The next year on Ozzfest, a bunch of those bands were on the bill — that's no coincidence. I'm hoping [Blackest] will maybe expose these bands and help them get on some of those other mainstream festivals. But, again, it's not going to be like Ozzfest. I'm not going to be on it every year."
Danzig also addressed reports that "Blackest of the Black" will be his last tour.
"I'm done after this tour," he said. "Maybe I'll change my mind and do some local shows. I don't want to tour anymore. Unless I change my mind — I might just take a break for two or three years. I'm just burned out on it. I don't enjoy it anymore. I love being onstage. But the other 22 hours of the day, spent bouncing around on a bus — I don't know anymore. I'll still be doing music, because that's my first love. But no more tours. This is it."
AEROSMITH Might Play Full Albums On Tour
- Oct. 5, 2005
Launch Radio Networks reports: AEROSMITH is asking fans to help with something special on their upcoming tour. The band is thinking about doing two of their albums live at the shows, and they want to know which ones you'd prefer. Go to the fan club web site Aeroforceone.com and vote for your favorites from throughout the band's career. The poll is open until October 15, which would give AEROSMITH two weeks to rehearse the winners, since they hit the road with LENNY KRAVITZ beginning October 30 in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Lead guitarist Joe Perry recently told Boston radio station WZLX-FM that the idea to focus on an album or two has been around for a while. "It's been something we've talked about for years, you know, like, actually doing a kind of a mini-set in the middle of a big set, you know, where you do an album from front-to-back, in that order," he said. "So if we got enough of a groundswell from our fans to do something like that, we would definitely do it."
AEROSMITH will release the live "Rockin' the Joint" set on October 25. The DualDisc features a live performance on the CD side and footage from the show on the DVD side.

VELVET REVOLVER's 'Come On, Come In' Video To Be Included On 'Fantastic Four' DVD
- Oct. 5, 2005
VELVET REVOLVER's video for "Come On, Come In" will be included as one of the special features on the upcoming two-disc DVD release of the "Fantastic Four" movie, due on December 5.
For the "Come On, Come In" video, VELVET REVOLVER joined forces with director Wayne Isham in Los Angeles before the band launched their summer 2005 European tour. Inspired by the adrenaline-driven visuals and conceptual theme of the "Fantastic Four" movie, the video combines the raw energy of a VELVET REVOLVER performance, with graphic transitions between movie footage and Dali-esque individualized abstract portraits of each band member.
Written and recorded specifically for the "Fantastic Four" film and soundtrack album, "Come On, Come In" was recorded in Raleigh and Cleveland in May during the band's U.S. headlining "Electric Wonderland Show" arena tour. VELVET REVOLVER co-produced the song along with Doug Grean and Nick Raskulinecz. The band felt that the new song they wrote lent itself perfectly to the film.
"Fantastic Four - The Album" was issued in July on Wind-up Records.

Formed in early '80s, KAT had become biggest metal band behind the Iron Curtain for the whole decade. Their debut album, "Metal and Hell", was released internationally on Ambush Records (which went bankrupt soon after). Unfortunately, due to political reasons, the band was never allowed to leave Poland for European tour. They played a lot in Eastern Europe though, including two spectacular shows with METALLICA on their "Master of Puppets" tour, as well as shows with IRON MAIDEN, MOTÖRHEAD, HANOI ROCKS and others. Their blackened thrash metal had huge impact on growing metal scene in Poland; KAT is so far the only Polish metal band that was honored with a tribute album featuring such acts as VADER, BEHEMOTH, LUCIFERION and LUX OCCULTA.

In a recent interview with Launch Radio Networks, SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison said that the band is working hard to make the "9.0: Live" CD/DVD package more than just a time-filler between studio albums. "I'm not a big fan of live records, but the way we're putting this together, it's gonna be almost like buying another SLIPKNOT record," he said. "We're really gonna package it and make it a special piece. And, you know, we'll have a live video to go along with it and everything, so I'm looking forward to that as well."
As previously reported, SLIPKNOT will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" airing Monday, October 10. The live show begins at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625). SLIPKNOT will mount the "Subliminal Verses Tour: The Final Volume" in October/November to wrap up the touring cycle on the band's current, critically acclaimed album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", which has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Support at all dates will come from AS I LAY DYING and UNEARTH.
