FRED DURST: 'Agreeance' Is A Word

LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst has shot back at the critics slamming him for his use of the word "agreeance" during his anti-war speech at the Grammy Awards. In a posting at www.limpbizkit.com, Durst writes, "Oh, by the way, AGREEANCE is a word according to the OXFORD-ENGLISH DICTIONARY. So the dumb asses at the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER and everyone else who didn't bother to check are welcome to intern at FLAWLESS RECORDS until they learn enough about journalism to write for a major daily newspaper. I love you and kiss my ass!"

I believe 'agreeance' is a word last used in the 18th century. It would appear in the Oxford English Dictionary because it has a more historical bent to it, relying on words and context not in modern usage. So while Fred is correct, I'm sure it was a slip up and he meant 'agreement.' I seriously doubt he intended to revive a word.

the OED *is* the definitive source for our language!
This whole imbruglio bothered me, because I knew that (from the OED's perspective) this was, in fact, a word -- even if it is considered Middle English or archaic in terms of contemporary usage.
This doesn't, of course, change the fact that Fred Durst is an idiot and should be euthanised.
