NIGHTWISH: Moscow Show Cancelled - Oct. 6, 2008
NIGHTWISH's previously announced one-off show with Swedish metallers PAIN at the Palace Of Sport in Luzhniki, Moscow, Russia on October 11, 2008 has been cancelled. According to a posting on the NIGHTWISH web site, "The local promoter was unable to fulfill every detail in our mutual agreement for the show. We can just hope that they will refund all the money for the people who had already bought the tickets for the show."

Robert Williams of Metal-Rules.com conducted an interview with NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala on September 20, 2008 during the Finnish/Swedish symphonic metal band's recent North American tour. Watch the 10-minute chat below.

NIGHTWISH cancelled the last four shows of its North American tour — September 23 in Knoxville, Tennessee; September 24 in Charlotte, North Carolina; September 26 in Baltimore, Maryland; and September 27 in New York City — due to singer Anette Olzon's "sudden severe illness," according to a posting on the band's web site. "This was one of the best tour legs we have ever done, and it's a pity it has to end this way, but there's no competing with the forces of nature," the group said. "There is nothing anybody can do about these things. We want to thank all the fans for all the sympathy, you guys have been so understanding, it's heartwarming. Thank you! We will do our best to make up for the cancelled shows sometime in the future."

NIGHTWISH released a digital-only collection of demos and B-sides titled "The Sound of Nightwish Reborn", on September 2. This release, which clocks in at nearly 70 minutes of music, retains "must-have" status for all NIGHTWISH diehards, since it includes a bevy of exclusive material, such as demo versions of songs from the "Dark Passion Play" sessions that were recorded prior to singer Anette Olzon joining the band and that feature Marco Tapani Hietala handling the vocals, as well as B-sides.

Hey! Nightwish and Pain were supposed to be on the same show... wtf happened to JC SOUND? They're quite a reputable concert agency... wonder what led to the cancellation of this show...

Wish they were specific because I mean unless it was something serious that was needed to actually put on the show then cancelling this type of show is pretty lame. I don't think a lot of these bands get to Moscow these days and it should be about playing and not some other shit. I hope they did not cancel over some stupid shit not given to them on their rider and because it was something that would prevent them from performing like no PA or something.

REALLY! If the guys at Metal-Rules.com are so keen on producing videos, why can't they learn how to publish it properly?!

If any of you read this, PLEASE google deinterlace and look for a button/checkbox in your compression program and use that before uploading the video to the net. As it is now it just looks bloody horrible with all the tearing going on as soon as there is fast motion in the picture. Believe me, a simple deinterlace when saving out your finished video will improve the picture quality ALOT.

How unfortunate for the people of Moscow. I think it is about time that Anette had a crack. They have been touring heavily for the past year. It is bound to take a toll, not only on her, but the rest of the band members as well. Why are people so quick to say she is pregnant? She didnt look pregnant to me two weeks ago. She actually looked very happy and energetic. The show was one of the best gigs I've been to in my life. (even if I almost fainted because of the heat) I even got goosebumps. After the show she was very tired and didnt stay outside to talk much like the rest of the guys. IMO Anette has been sick for a couple of days. Or maybe she is just tired. This year has been very tough on her. I think some resting time might be in order.

I do think that Annette may be pregnant- she cut and stripped her hair back to her natural color- you are not supposed to conftinue dyeing your hair while pregnant- and she did gain weight very quickly. There are just too many shows cacelled- something is up- and I hope that it's good news like a pregnancy - and not that she is severely sick. I had wanted to see them in NY - now I'm glad I didn't get Tix. I did see them last fall though and they were phenomenal as always
