DANGEROUS TOYS Schedule Special Two-Hour Performance

DANGEROUS TOYS, the Texas-based band featuring WATCHTOWER frontman Jason McMaster, have scheduled a special two-hour performance on May 7 at The Red Eyed Fly in Austin, Texas. There will be no opening bands — just an "evening with the TOYS," according to a posting on the group's web site. For more information, visit www.dangeroustoys.net.

I thought these guys were long gone. Also didn't know Jason still had a band. I like the Toys. Gotta go research this "Watchtower." The guy's got a voice that's an acquired taste. Sorta like the singer from Salty Dog. Ooooh, there's a band ya forgot about.

Watchtower predates the Toys, that was like power/speed/prog metal stuff. Then Toys got signed almost accidentally so he wound up being better known for that, kind of like Mike Patton with Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. Jason's a SUPER cool guy, one of the nicest dudes you'll ever meet - and he still totally kicks ass onstage and believe it or not still looks good doing it. These days he still does the occasional Toys or Watchtower gig, but his main bands are Gahdzilla Motor Company (original heavy stuff) Broken Teeth (original rock n' roll in the early AC/DC vein) and Activator which is the stoner rock band he plays bass in. That may have even changed, he's always in like 50 bands. Actually one of my bands is opening for Broken Teeth tonight so I'll ask him for an update when I see him!

Watchtower were a crazy-ass techno/apocolyptic/metal band (that's techno in a technical sense, not dance music) who have to be heard to be believed. Here's their website:

Jason also has a band called Gahdzilla Motor Company, and band called Broken teeth, and various side projects like SSIK (kiss cover band) and Bon-Bons (AC/DC cover band-all Bon Scott era)
He's a pretty busy guy! Dangerous Toys are my least favorite of his bands, but of course they did the best. I guess I just have un-commercial tastes.

I saw them a couple of times.Great live show.Good Salty Dog reference before..........Come Along..........LOL.I'll have to check out this Watchtower stuff.Did Jason ever record anything with Gahdzilla Motor Company?
