COREY TAYLOR: New SLIPKNOT Album Will 'Rip Your Face Off' - May 13, 2008
SLIPKNOT vocalist Corey Taylor has told Billboard.com that he has little doubt that the band's as-yet-untitled fourth studio effort, tentatively due Aug. 12 via Roadrunner Records, will appease its loyal fans, the Maggots.

"It's going to rip your face off," Taylor told Billboard.com. "I don't think the world will be ready for this album."

Taylor described SLIPKNOT's forthcoming set — which is being recorded in the band's home state of Iowa — as a "very dark" cross between "Vol. 3" and 2001's "Iowa". "It has so much power in it and yet there are so many great spots for melody," he explained. "It's a controlled chaos that hits you right out of the gate."

Lyrically, "Instead of bitching about what went wrong in my life, I'm bitching about what's wrong in life, period," Taylor said, noting that his vocals are much more melodic than before. "I got to the point where I was tired of pretending that I couldn't sing every time I made a SLIPKNOT album, so this time I'm going all out."

Read more at Billboard.com.

A two-minute "teaser video" for SLIPKNOT's forthcoming album has been released and can be viewed below.

SLIPKNOT previously posted several teaser photographs from a recent photo shoot on the splash page of its web site.

It is not presently clear if the pictures in question are a preview of the new series of masks which the Des Moines, Iowa-based metal giants will don on the upcoming Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival, set to kick off July 9 at the White River Amphitheatre in Seattle.

SLIPKNOT went on hiatus at the end of 2005, when it finished touring in support of "Vol. 3". Since then the band members have worked on various other projects, including a second album from singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root's STONE SOUR.

More of his weak ass off key singing...great...what the world needs is another metal guy trying to sing melodically, and sounding just horrible live. Dont do it if you cant back it up. And whether you like them or not,his live clean vocals are very weak, and he just kinda fakes it anyways.

You can't tell the kids that frequent this site anything. If it doesn't sound the same as the last 6 albums, isn't underground or if you don't have to buy their album from an online shop because normal labels won't pick it up then it is garbage.

Most of the people here have no real taste in music and wouldn't know what real metal is if it hit them in the face. The ONLY thing they know about metal is what their friends and them have passed down to each other over time from what they could gather on the net so they don't look stupid when trying to talk about it.

The sad thing is I used to be one of them, until I got older and stopped listening to all of them and actually started listening to the music. Now the music speaks to me and I can enjoy metal for what it is and that is METAL.

Using "epic fail" twice in the same thread negates your already empty opinion.

Factually, Slipknot's albums have become increasingly artistic and less the norm. Hope this one is as experimental and, dare I say, ADVENTUREOUS as the last one.

Sweet christ I'm glad I don't have to spend any real time with any of you stupid fuckers. You're everything I hate about the metal scene and then some.

I whole heartedly agree with the core and Mier. Slipknot has had so much progression in their music it's fucking ridiculous. Especially with Jim and Corey doing Stone Sour. Stone Sour's last album was top notch IMO. The first was good, but yet again, they find the need to progress as musicians.

I've always loved Corey's attitude about Vol. 3 and Come Whatever May. "We're playing shit WE want to play, if you don't like it.. FUCK YOU". That's definitely what all the Blabberbrats want to hear, and obviously it fuels the fire of their hatred for all things Slipknot, but it shows a lot of integrity for a very talented Vocalist and frontman. You can't fake the kind of emotion that comes out of Corey or the rest of the band when they play.

BTW Throwing out random "core" genres to classify a band you don't like makes you look fucking stupid, so shut your mouth.

I think Corey is a great singer, except with Slipshit. They just don't work out together. Maybe if they'd drop the mask bullshit and concentrate on the music rather than theatrics, they'd be good, great even.

I remember seeing the first album back in 1999 from reading Circus which was a Rock magazine back then and all this talked about them at the Ozzfest. I got the album the S/T without even listening to the band and was thrilled about it. What made me lose interest was that I soon found out that they copied the band Mushroomhead and later Gwar was making fun of Slipknot that they copied their image. The third album was pretty bad it sounded something like stone sour. The fans are also annoying. I gave regards to Joey he's a pretty cool dude, same with Clown he's a crazy mother fucker.

why do people think vol 3 and stone sour are the same. that light, weak, watered down, '' begging- to - be mainstream '' ss doesnt compare with the heavy(peppered with with mellow moments) slabs of aggression that occupies vol 3.

slipknot will never be as brutal as suffocation - so what?
slipknot will never be as underground as agoraphobic nosebleed - so what?

get over it

although it does hinder me alittle bit that taylor is gonna be crooning all over the place but i'm gonna wait to judge.as i liked all the previous material. the s/t being my personal fave.

I think their CD's keep getting better. I loved Vol. 3. It was epic and wasn't afraid to be mellow at times. I think thats the epitome of a good band. I hate metal bands that have the same fucking fast riffs over and over again and won't play anything midtempo or mellow because that's not metal!!! Yeah, what ever!!!!!!!!! What irritates me is how bands take so long to release new albums. It's been what 4 years since V3?

First Opeth is a creative band writting interesting music maybe not 2 u since u seen to listen to fucking "Nu-Metal" this site should it be like "Metal Archieve" where they only add true metal bands not posers false metal bands. here are some bands if u are interested in listening good stuff: Opeth, Necrophagist, Dream Theater, Meshuggah, Porcupine Tree, Symphony X, Nile, Behemoth, Mastodon, The Delliger Escape plan, Celtic Frost, Megadeth, Tool, Obituary and many more ... and all this bands have release great albums the last few years and well some of this bands have more riff in one song Than Slipknot ever have in their lifetime.
