AIRBOURNE + STRIPPERS + JAGER = MAYHEM

For the past week we have been trekking through California and I have never felt more welcomed. Night after night, the crowd has been intense and ready to rock.

Take for example one lucky woman who jumped on stage and started to strip to Airbourne's anthem to women "Girls In Black". "We always encourage women to dance on stage, and feel free to loose their clothes. It's all about women and rock and roll," says Airbourne's guitarist David Roads.

The band was so appreciative they gave her a nice bottle of Jager.

If you don't think that is rock and roll enough take a look at lead singer Joel O'Keeffe who ran out into the crowd while playing his solo for "Cheap Wine".

This is one band you should not miss. How could you? They have everything: Hot women, booze and fucking rock and roll. Check here to see when they are playing in your city.

GHOSTS, DRUMMERS, AND THE FIRST SLIPKNOT ALBUM

Some guy wrote in to our website email account the other day promoting his book about the paranormal and I almost lost it. No, actually I did lose it. Check out my response to him and more in the new Mail Bag. I also help an out-of-work guitarist find a job.

Another person was quite worried that perhaps Roadrunner founder Cees Wessels was no more, but Amy set that guy straight in Ask Amy. Of course there are the usual raft of proposals (sexual, romantic, and both), dumb questions, and smart questions as well.

New Slipknot artwork and a bunch of other band photos and images have been uploaded to the Fan Art section.

Am I reading this right? 12 to 1 new HBB time? How in the hell are they fitting all of the above listed vids in 1 hour with the 700 commercials they play during the show. I swear if those fuckers change it from 12 to 2 or some shit like that I am going to blow the fuck up. I mean, 2 fucking hours at a reasonable time. That is all I ask for, ya know. They can then resume all of the YO YO YO rap/hip hop, reality, Gay Bam, dancing fags bullshit shows all they want for the remaining 6 days and 22 hours in the week. All I want is 2 hours of HBB, preferably between 11 and 1. Anyway, I agree...the Judas Priest vid blows. Come on, "concept album"?translation...the end of your career in music. Really the only vid I am looking forward to is the new Straight Line Stitch. It would be nice to see the Morbid Angel vid, but those fuckers will go straight to commercial after Disturbed and not play it. I also like the Opeth and Cryptopsy vids. MTV needs to either get this show right, or not do the show at all. I think they push the show back later and later so people will not watch because of the late time and then justify taking the show completely off the air by saying it has poor ratings and people didn't watch it any more. Well, if you didn't play the show in the middle of the fucking night when the majority of people are fucking sleeping, maybe someone would fucking watch the show, you dumbasses!

I pretty much agree with Brad. What the fuck? They've been just choking Headbanger's Ball to death for an extremely long time now. He's right, for all but 2 hours a week of reality shows, reruns, reality shows, reruns, more reality shows, more reruns, even more reality shows and reruns, with some douchebag Bam crap and stupid blocks of rap and emo videos all the time, can't they just fuckin' get the show right?!? Hell, I'm busy or out half the time and unable to watch it, like a lot of others at times, but are you serious, they can't come up with a formula at a decent hour and in a decent format that works, and with a shred of respect to the genre and not just being sloppy and fucked up? I mean, for starters, the endless 5-8 minute commercial breaks, which end up being about the same half-a-dozen commericials. Then they have that stupid format of blinking the band/video name/album name that of course covers half the fuckin' screen...then halfway through each video they blink some stupid "You're watching Headbanger's Ball" shit over half of the middle of the screen, and so on. sometimes the thing that says what band and song it is is incorrect as well. I mean are you fucking kidding me?

Anyway, for the sake of debate or argument, in my humble opinion, best bands on this week's edition: The Black Dahlia Murder, Cryptopsy, Judas Priest, Dillenger Escape Plan, Opeth, Behemoth, Children of Bodom, Morbid Angel, Lamb of God, Machine Head.
Shitiest groups: Disturbed, Emmure, Boris, Shai Hulud, and especially Between the Buried and Me.

Oh well, could be worse with some of these shitty bands. Slipknot could be on the playlist.

This is a fuckin' discrace and i'm taking about the way this show has been put together for the last several years.
I do like the two hour run time, but I guess I'll never see that again. I want to say that the new air time(12-1) is actually the old air time from the early ninties (I use to watch it them)but i'm pretty sure the original HBB was always two hours long anyways. I absolutly have to agree with Brad on this point: HBB has way too many comerials. Most of which are played 5 or 6 times an episode. Next point, most of the vids they play just fuckin' suck. they play to many newer metal bands and alost every band that has put out their debut since 2000 has competely sucked ass. their music has no rythem and has so many changing parts that it'll gave anyone ADHD. I wonder why they're scared to play old Machine Head vids, Old Type O vids, Life of agony Vids, Megadeth vids (other than the 2 newest ones), more pantera vids, older Cradle of Filth Vids, White Zombie Vids. I could go on and on with this list, but I need to state another part of my opinion: the need for more good interviews. I liked the Dave Mustane & Phil Anselmo segments, but fuckin' A man, do you know how time I saw those interviews rerun? I lost count after the 20th time. Last but still very important: HBB needs an excellent host; someone with a mind for music, that actually cares about what's happenin' in metal. Maybe they ahould get Ian Christie to host HBB.

Well, I just looked this 12-1 crap up on tivo.com listings. Looks like it is NEXT week HBB will start being only one hour from 12-1 so that they can play WHAT?? in its place from 11-12? A show called Subterranean? Lame ass "new alternative music videos". Um...I thought the word "alternative music" died with a gunshot to that no talent loser Kurt Cobain's head. Fuck you MTV for not realizing Metal=strength in numbers. There is an audience for it, and there will always be an audience for it. Metal will never die out like you would like it to. It may not be as popular as Jay Z, 50 Cent, or whatever YO YO YO rap shit rapper is popular this week, but I guarantee in 10 years a metal fan will be still listening to the same bands as they are today, but a rap or pop fan will have long since moved on to "the next big thing". That is because metal fans are more devoted to the genre and their favorite bands than any other genre of music. Oh, and why are they not playing the HBB from 12-2 you ask and continue to make it 2 hours? Because as mentioned in my above posted rant, they have to make room for Gay ass Bam Margera and his unfunny fucking piece of shit lame ass show. No shit. Thank you MTV...for cutting HBB again. Back in the day, the original HBB used to kick ass and be 3 hours long...then 2...then 1...then...No HBB-in its place came Superrock, the mainstream, "alternative" bullshit show that obviously no one watched cause it lasted about as long as "the stars have talent" show. Next week...Subterranean. Sounds like Deja Vu to me. Again, FUCK YOU MTV!

And by the way, wow. Why am I not surprised that the Slipknot song is far and away the worst song and also the worst band on Headbangers Ball tonight?

Dunno about anyone else, but even though Porcelain Heart is a really good song, it shouldn't have been Opeth's single for the album. I would've chosen Heir Apparent. Or maybe The Lotus Eater.

SEVENDUST

Sevendust are set to release their seventh studio album, Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow, April 1st, 2008. Hope & Sorrow was produced by Sean Groove, Morgan Rose & John Connolly in Atlanta, GA at Tree Sounds Studios. The release will be their second on the band's wholly owned record label, 7Bros. Records through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. For the first time since Animosity (2001), the band has collaborated with outside artists. As the record gets finalized over the next few weeks, identities of the guest appearances will surface -Sevendust felt bringing in some outside friends added a healthy dynamic for the project. BLACK TIDE

Fresh off their now legendary Ozzfest stint, Avenged Sevenfold dates and a forthcoming tour with All That Remains, Black Tide are set to take the world by storm with their debut album Light From Above, produced by Johnny K (Disturbed, Staind). Revolver Magazine dubbed them the "Future of Metal" and Spin called them "a combination of Megadeth riffage, Metallica brutality, and Guns N' Roses melodicism." WALLS OF JERICHO

Detroit's hardest, Walls Of Jericho, have been described as "Murderous Metal-core" by Alternative Press in their recent feature for the "Most Anticipated 2008" issue. With Candace Kucsulain, who is arguably the most energetic and courageous front-woman in all of metal and a twin guitar attack, Walls Of Jericho have won over audiences worldwide. WOJ have an EP due out Spring 2008 produced by and featuring Corey Taylor (Slipknot), and a new album due Summer 2008. 36 CRAZYFISTS

After three critically acclaimed records, 36 Crazyfists switches labels to Ferret Music for their new album, The Tide and Its' Takers due out April 29th, 2008. Still the only hard rock band to build a career from Alaska, 36 Crazyfists has built an international following by doing extensive touring around the world from appearing on the mainstage of UK's Download Festival, to a sold-out European/UK and Australian tour with co-headliners Atreyu. 36 Crazyfists is poised to finally break the US market with the new album produced by guitarist Steve Holt and mixed by legendary hard rock mixer Andy Sneep.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH

Five Finger Death Punch has been pummeling audiences since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, The Way of the Fist. With their hit single "The Bleeding" pulverizing the Active rock charts and MTV2's Headbanger's Ball, the album has been called a "Cowboys from Hell for this millennium (Outburn)." Suicide Silence's rise through the ranks of extreme metal saw them headline full-scale tours in both the US & UK in the Summer/Fall of 2006 while still an unsigned band. Upon finally finding a home with Century Media Records, the band's debut full-length impacted the Billboard 200 at #94 cementing them as the highest selling debut artist in Century Media history. According to Revolver Magazine, "The Cleansing was well worth the wait" and as the band continues to shatter the boundaries of conventionality with a uniquely devastating live show & rigorous commitment to touring, it comes as no surprise that Suicide Silence has been cited by Alternative Press as one of the 100 bands you need to know about in 2008.

AIRBOURNE

"Stand Up For Rock n' Roll."

It is as clear a statement of intent as you're ever likely to hear. One verse that says everything you need to know about Melbourne, AU four piece Airbourne and their debut album, Runnin' Wild: forget your worries, get down to the front of the stage and lose your mind to some ear-bleeding, sweat-soaked rock n'roll. Or, as the song continues, "Drink your beer/Drink your wine/Let's have a good time." Stand up for rock n' roll indeed. THE RED CHORD

The Red Chord have been crafting intriguing heavy music since their independent debut Fused Together in Revolving Doors in 2002. Combining elements of grindcore, death metal and hardcore, that release established them as one of the premier Massachusetts extreme metal acts. In 2005, Metal Blade released the follow-up Clients, a tortured concept album about mental patients, drug addicts, the homeless, the desperate and downtrodden. While they decimated crowds worldwide touring with the likes of Gwar, High On Fire, Unearth, Every Time I Die and Hatebreed, as well as stints on Ozzfest 2006 and Sounds of the Underground 2005, Clients established The Red Chord as innovators in the burgeoning underground metal scene. By staying away from the cliché trappings that crippled some of their contemporaries, 2007's Prey For Eyes hit Metal Maniacs' "Critics Picks" Top 10 Albums of 2007, Revolver's Top 20 Albums of 2007 and Decibel's Top 40 Albums of 2007, further solidifying The Red Chord as a force at the top of their game.
