New York, NY - Roadrunner Records is proud to announce 2008 Grammy Awards nominations for two of its marquee artists. Multi-platinum rockers Nickelback have been nominated in the category of Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for "If Everyone Cared" from the seven-times platinum album All The Right Reasons, in company with Daughtry, Green Day, U2 and The White Stripes. Thrash pioneers Machine Head land their first-ever Grammy nomination for the track "Aesthetics of Hate" from 2007's critically acclaimed album The Blackening in the category of Best Metal Performance. Other nominees are As I Lay Dying, King Diamond, Shadows Fall and Slayer.
All proceeds from the digital single and video sales of "If Everyone Cared" between February 1 and July 31, 2007 were donated to charity, equally distributed between Amnesty International and International Childrens' Awareness Canada. Over 800,000 digital singles and 25,000 digital videos were sold during the six-month period of the humanitarian campaign. The track also reached #1 on the Hot AC chart and Top 10 at Pop. Nickelback's Mike Kroeger comments, "We are thrilled to receive a Grammy nomination, especially for ‘If Everyone Cared.' This song means a lot to the band. It carries a strong message that we feel very passionate about, and we are glad that has been recognized."
This marks the first Grammy nomination for Bay-area thrash legends Machine Head."Aesthetics of Hate," an homage to the late "Dimebag" Darrell of Pantera and Damageplan is the focus track from Machine Head's 2007 opus, The Blackening which Revolver Magazine predicts "... may prove to be this generation's ...And Justice for All." The Blackening was the #1 most spun album of 2007 at FMQB's Metal Detector radio chart, among other accolades. Frontman Robb Flynn said from tour in Europe that the band is, "...completely blown away and honored by this! It's a great time for metal in the good ol' U-S-of-A right now, and Machine Head are stoked to be leading the charge!"
2007 demanded the hell out of Nickelback's "Rockstar" and Killswitch Engage's "My Curse." Music Choice on Demand just clued us in to these two facts:
1. "Rockstar" is the most demanded rock video of the year.
2. "My Curse" is the most demanded metal video of the year.

Unless you've been living under a ROCK or orbiting a distant STAR, you're surely aware that Nickelback's new video for their latest smash, "Rockstar" (yet another hit single from their 6xPlatinum monster, All The Right Reasons), is taking over the net with its hilarious combo of celebrity cameos and everyman karaoke.
Our friends at AOL Music love "Rockstar" too, and have named it their Popeater Blog's 'Video of the Day'.
Don't forget that you can also download and own the "Rockstar" video from iTunes, where it currently ranks - you guessed it - NUMBER 1.
In short: you can try and resist "Rockstar" all you want, but it'll win you over in the end, so don't be a hater - it's not often that everyone can be a rockstar.

Nickelback has also just re-written the record books by becoming the first band in the 14-year history of the BDS Top 40 chart to send five singles from ONE album into the top 10, as "Rockstar" joins other All The Right Reasons hits, "Photograph," "Savin' Me," "Far Away" and "If Everyone Cared," in accomplishing this feat.
By all reports Nickelback and Black Stone Cherry had an amazing time playing together on July 21st in East Troy, Michigan. John Fred Young of Black Stone Cherry sent us this photo of himself with Nickelback drummer Daniel Adair. John Fred tells us he had an amazing time and is "look[ing] forward to having many more with [Nickelback]."
Black Stone Cherry are still riding high off their awesome debut, featuring the rock radio staples "Lonely Train," "Hell & High Water," and "Rain Wizard" - the last of which was just combined with 2, previously unreleased outtakes but fantastic tracks you can only get as DOWNLOADS from your digi retailer of choice.
