THE SOUND OF NIGHTWISH REBORN

As Finland's symphonic metal heroes Nightwish begin what will be the third and final US tour on their landmark Dark Passion Play album, they've helped us put together an album of B-sides and rare tracks entitled The Sound of Nightwish Reborn which not only contains album B-sides like "Escapist" and "While Your Lips Are Still Red" but also rare demo recordings from the days before Annette Olzen was chosen to front the band! With bassist and co-vocalist Marco handling vocals you can hear that despite a change in vocalists, Nightwish was still firing on all cylinders. In fact, they sounded like a band that probably had more to prove than ever. This is a must for any Nightwish fan and only available via iTunes and your regular fine online retailers. GO HERE to get it now.

WHAT WAS NIGHTWISH DOING ON FRIDAY?

This past Friday, August 29th, Nightwish played the first show of their final Dark Passion Play tour.

The concert was held at The Trocadero in Philadelphia, PA. Finnish friends Sonata Arctica were the openers for this ass-kicking gig, and I speak these words from experience, by the way.

NIGHTWISH INVADES THE U.S.

Finland's Nightwish will once again tour U.S. soil, hitting all major markets and cities along the way. The band will bring its massively popular yet refreshingly unique blend of progressive Euro metal, fueled by the siren-like vocals of Anette Olzon, to North American shores for the third and final trek in support of last year's Dark Passion Play, which has sold nearly 75,000 copies since its September 2007 release.

Coinciding with the tour, the band will also release a digital-only collection of demos and B-sides titled The Sound of Nightwish Reborn, available through all digital service providers, on September 2. This release, which clocks in at nearly 70 minutes of music, retains "must have" status for all Nightwish diehards, since it includes a bevy of exclusive material, such as demo versions of songs from the Dark Passion Play sessions that were recorded prior to Olzon joining the band and that feature Marco Tapani Hietala handling the vocals, as well as B-sides.

The track listing for The Sound of Nightwish Reborn is as follows. Songs marked with a (*) indicate pre-Olzon demo versions.

1.Eva (Demo version) - Demo session, pre-album*

2.Reach ("Amaranth" Demo) - Demo session, pre-album*

3.While Your Lips Are Still Red - B-side, pre-album

4.Escapist - B-side, Album session

5.The Poet and The Pendulum - Demo version, pre-album*

6.Bye Bye Beautiful (DJ Orkidea remix) - Album session

Nightwish are an international metal sensation, holding four times Platinum certification in their native Finland and a Gold certification in Germany. The band's female-fronted, epic yet goth metal forces people to stand up and take notice. The band has impressively moved 75,000 units of Dark Passion Play on the back of 11 sold-out U.S. shows, proving that Nightwish are the type of band that inspire fierce and dedicated loyalty. Prior to that, the band released Once in 2004 and enjoyed their first American tour, which was completely sold out.
