HISTORY IN THE MAKING

So, Killswitch Engage's latest release - The End Of Heartache - is officially one week old. And though their first release on Roadrunner (2002's Alive Or Just Breathing) has already made its mark, The End Of Heartache makes Roadrunner history after 7 days.

How so?

The End Of Heartache is Roadrunner's 4th highest chart debut (#21, behind only Slipknot's Iowa and Nickelback's Silver Side Up and The Long Road).

The End Of Heartache is Roadrunner's 8th highest sales debut (behind only the above three mentioned albums, along with Coal Chamber's Chamber Music, the Resident Evil soundtrack, Type O Negative's World Coming Down, and Soulfly's Primitive....rounding out the top 10 - for those of you curious - is Fear Factory Digimortal and Sepultura Roots.

But you know what? This has nothing to do with Roadrunner, and everything to do with Killswitch Engage, and another great piece of work from them. If you have yet to check out this release, do so now at www.killswitchengage.com/ecard...and check them out on tour (currently on the road with In Flames).

ODDS & ENDS

Here you go:

Killswitch Engage: REVOLVER, September/October 2002 issue. Therein, you will find a blurb on Killswitch Engage...a blurb about their recently released Alive Or Just Breathing lp. What does it say? "Like a musical dominatrix, the band smacks you around but still delivers that sweet release you crave." Now that's a fuckin' line.

Soulfly: REVOLVER, September/October 2002 issue. Therein, you will find an interview with Max Cavalera. On the last line of Max's first answer, it reads "...the album cover is a Hindu symbol of a gnome that kind of looks like a three." Let the record state that "gnome" is indeed spelled "ohm." Some things, they just don't teach you in school...and that is why you come and read the news here.

Resident Evil: Eyyyy, tomorrow (07/30), the Resident Evil dvd hits the streets. For all yinz Slipknot fans out there, the video for "My Plague" will be on this beast. One such online review of this dvd told of men in "rubber masks" appearing...obviously this cat is not as plugged in as the dude writing the Killswitch Engage blurb in REVOLVER.

ODDS AND ENDS

Not an update from the studio, as usually brought to us by The Production Gospel According To Dave, but a few notes of interest in general:

Ill Nino - last night (03/19) in Pittsburgh, Drowning Pool frontman joined Ill Nino onstage to help out on the singing of "Eye For An Eye". Apparently he too is a Soulfly fan.

Resident Evil - the soundtrack for this movie is officially one week old. The soundscan numbers this past week jumped up 49,722% from the previous week's sales. "How can that be," you ask if the cd has only been out one week? Well, if you search hard enough, you will always find some 'shady' retailers selling the piece before street date. True. 83 copies were apparently scanned the week before official release. As for this past week's sales, you do the math.

??? - the man behind The Production Gospel According To Dave took a flight to Vancouver today. Why??? More news to come on that soon...

Coal Chamber - the first single from the upcoming Dark Days release, "Fiend", has already started to get some early spins. Radio stations officially add the song to their playlists on Monday (03/25). Keep your ears peeled. New track "Something Told Me" is currently out now on the Resident Evil soundtrack.

36 Crazyfists - WELCOME TO ALASKA...MOTHERFUCKER. What? You have to see what Marketing Matt dubs as "the best sticker Roadrunner Records has ever made." Coming soon, a 'bumper' type sticker that reads 36 CRAZYFISTS as the license plate number, an Alaskan license plate, where 36 Crazyfists hail from. WELCOME TO ALASKA...MOTHERFUCKER. Yes, the sticker actually says that too. Pure Genius.

Coal Chamber, again - the first rough edit of the "Fiend" video was shown here at Roadrunner today. This too, pure genius.

Ill Nino, again - amongst your travels on the net, check out www.ESPguitars.com. Notice three familiar faces on the entrance page to this site?

Amongst your travels on our site, check out the latest video from Slipknot, the video for "My Plague". This, is a video...

All live footage seen in this video comes from the show which was recorded at the London Arena back on February 16th...meaning you can also consider this a sneak peek at some of the live footage you will be seeing on the upcoming Slipknot dvd. All other footage that is not of the band or crowd, is from the Resident Evil movie, which is in theaters now. And of course, the version of "My Plague" which you hear on the video, is also available on the Resident Evil soundtrack, which is also in stores now.

Enjoy, as this is a video purely for the fans.

JUST LIKE THE MOVIES

a few random notes from the Silver Screen:

A week or so back, Slipknot's Corey Taylor hit the studio to record a song titled "Bother". Though no absolute use for this track has been confirmed, it could possibly wind up on the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Spider-Man. More info on the song and its whereabouts to come as known.

did you know? For the upcoming Spider-Man movie, which hits movie theaters on May 3rd, all around babe Kirsten Dunst plays the role of sweet Mary Jane Watson. It's true. For those of you who are in the dark on that name, she was the head cheerleader in the 2000 masterpiece Bring It On. If you are still in the dark, ask for it by name at your local video rental spot.

What else...ahhh yes, Nickelback's "Breathe", a track from their previous release The State, will be featured in both the movie and soundtrack to the upcoming Clockstoppers. Premise of this movie? As the title may give away, a teenager accidentally activates a machine that enables him to make time stand still. Chilling. Riveting. Actually, one of the coolest things to be able to do, agree? Presuming that along with stopping time, people stopped too...unless you chose otherwise. Imagine the possibilities. Imagine.

Clockstoppers the movie hits theaters on March 29th, the soundtrack hits stores three days earlier on March 26th. Other nerds appearing on the soundtrack, and we mean that in the nicest possible way, include Blink 182, Newfound Glory, Lit.

And of course, our very own soundtrack to the movie Resident Evil hits stores tomorrow (03/12), and the movie follows on Friday (03/15). Once again, track listing for this beast is as follows:

Slipknot - My Plague (New Abuse Mix)*
Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song (Slipknot Remix)*
Coal Chamber - Something Told Me*
The Crystal Method - Name Of The Game
Adema - Everyone
Fear Factory - Invisible Wounds (The Suture Mix)*
Static X - Anything But This*
Rammstein - Halleluja
Depeche Mode - Dirt*
Ill Nino - What Comes Around (Day Of The Dead Mix)*
Mudvayne - Dig (Everything And Nothing Remix)
Method Man - Release Yo Delph (Prodigy Mix)
Saliva - 800*
Five Point O - The Infinity

plus, Original Score music By Marilyn Manson:
Resident Evil Main Title Theme
Seizure Of Power
Reunion
Cleansing

* - indicates new track or previously unavailable

Remember, you can also check out a world of Resident Evil goods in our WILDCARD section.

You have waited long enough, hearing only words about new Coal Chamber music...now it is time to finally hear a track. Currently, the band - Dez, Meegs, Mike, Nadja - is holed up somewhere in Cali rehearsing for their upcoming spot on the Jager Music Tour (starts 03/08 in Orlando, FL). Well, wanna hear one of the songs they are rehearsing?

Check out the Resident Evil soundtrack player - http://www.RoadrunnerRecords.com/ResidentEvil/. The whole soundtrack is streamed in its entirety, including "Something Told Me", a track from Coal Chamber's forthcoming Dark Days release...Enjoy.

note - if you see a "*" after a song title, it denotes the track is either NEW or PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED. It's true.

SLIPKNOT EURO TOUR COMES TO AN END

Wednesday night (02/21) marked the end of this most recent European tour run for Slipknot...and it finished with a bang. Drummer Joey Jordison, speaking with fans backstage after the show, told "the best UK show of the tour by far." for more info on the last UK date, check out www.NME.com

How about another UK show worth mentioning? How about the show at the London Arena on 02/16? This was the show which was recorded for the upcoming Slipknot dvd, and even sooner, the upcoming video for "My Plague". Speaking of which, cats in the art department are watching the first draft of that video as this is being written. The majority of the video is live footage - crowd and band - spliced in with a bit of pieces from the upcoming Resident Evil movie. More to come on this video soon...

As for shooting the London Arena show, 27 cameras were present in total, capturing everything the night had to offer. The man behind The Production Gospel According To Dave simply relays the following quote about that night - "one of the most amazing, energetic...it was pure chaos everywhere you looked.
GAMING WITH RAYMOND

So much talk about the upcoming film Resident Evil has been going on up on this website, and its soundtrack too, which features new Coal Chamber music, a heavier hitting remix of Ill Nino's "What Comes Around", the latest from Slipknot camp, plus a slew of other new tracks, many of which have yet to be released. The soundtrack hits stores March 12th, with the movie hitting theaters three days later on March 15th.

Soon enough we'll have an interview here on the site with the writer/director of the film, Paul Anderson, wherein he goes into a bit more detail on different aspects of the movie (answering YOUR questions as taken from our Message Board). Now, it is no secret that this movie is indeed based off the game Resident Evil. Let's see...when thinking of games, who better to turn to than Roadrunner's resident gamer, Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera.

In a piece that is going to come to the site shortly, Raymond will be giving a couple gaming tips on his Resident Evil game of choice...of course, this may not answer your full RE gaming questions. That being said, we are going to give Raymond a handful of your questions to answer. Got a gaming question? Drop us an email at webmaster@roadrunnerrecords.com, and make sure you title the email "FF gaming".

Oh, and did you know? Fear Factory's "Invisible Wounds" (The Suture Mix) will be on the Resident Evil Soundtrack.

Make sure to check out our Resident Evil SOUNDTRACK PAGE...and keep checking it, as doings here over the next month will fill it up more than a sumo wrestler at Sonny's BBQ Pit on All U Can Eat Rib Tips night.

RESIDENT EVIL

It was written previously that over this past Holiday Season Slipknot did a new version of the track "My Plague" from their IOWA release. It's true. Most of the difference can be found in the vocals and arrangement of the song. Well, this new version of "My Plague" has officially been dubbed the New Abuse Mix.

We also wrote that planned use of this track was to follow...so here it is - the new version of "My Plague", as mixed by Terry Date, will be rolled out to radio AND be featured in the upcoming soundtrack to the movie Resident Evil.

Resident Evil? Cool name, huh? Ya. Resident Evil is a movie based on the video game series Resident Evil. The movie will be out come March 15th (starring the beautiful likes of Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez), and the soundtrack for this piece - featuring the New Abuse Mix of "My Plague" - is scheduled to come out three days prior on March 12th.

More to come on this front...possibly with some surprises in tow...
