KATRINA BENEFIT CONCERT

message from Sinch:

Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert

We will be playing a Hurricane Katrina benefit concert on Sunday, October 2nd. This is an ALL AGES show at Grape Street in Philadelphia, PA. Please come out and show your support. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

As I'm sure anyone who's not in a coma knows by now, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf coast and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless and with nowhere to go. It's going to take *years* to rebuild and in the meantime all of those people are going to need help.

We may not raise a million dollars -- actually I'm fairly certain that we won't even come close to that -- but every dollar counts. I'm sure many of you have already donated, some of you multiple times. Even so, come out, put down your $10 and enjoy the show knowing that it's gonna help some people out of a horrible situation.

Again, this is an ALL AGES show so there's really no excuse not to come. And in case all you alcoholics are wondering -- yes, they will still be serving alcohol if you are of age. Just bring your ID and you'll be all set to do some Sunday afternoon drinking. And by the way, I'm sure there's an Eagles game on or something, but screw that. This is obviously way more important (and awesome).

We hope to see you all there.

Here are the details:

Sunday October 2, 2005
Grape Street
4100 Main Street
Manayunk, PA

with: 13Even, Liquid Cloud 9, Automatic Bl! ack, Northstar ! Infinite and Undercast

cost: $10.00
showtime: 2-9pm

THIS IS AN ALL AGES SHOW (21+ to drink)

IT'S HERE

We've been talking about it all week, and now it's here, the first track from the upcoming Roadrunner United The All Star Sessions release (coming October 11). The song "The Dagger" (unmastered) is now available for download in our MUSIC section.

Go ahead and download, and rather than us tell you about the track and more on the release, read the words below from the writer of "The Dagger" (and Captain of the team that recorded the song), Machine Head's Robert Flynn:

"Hey Fuckers!

"Greetings from Derka Derkastan! And as we say there, "Fuck...derk, derk, allah...sherpa, sherpa...Muhamed jihad" (Yes, I've been watching WAY too much "Team America"). Just got back from doing a bit of press for the Roadrunner United album. RR flew me down to LA for a couple of days, and then to London, England to do some international press. As I'm sure most of you have read or heard by now, Roadrunner have decided to take on the seemingly ridiculous challenge of gathering, organizing and managing 60 musicians for a giant collaborative metal all-star effort.

"Brainchild of Senior VP of A&R (and longtime Machine Head champion) Monte Conner, these all-star sessions would follow a few basic "rules". Roadrunner would choose four "Captains", each Captain would write 4 songs, then assemble a "band" for each song comprised of other RR artists, past and/or present, currently on or off the label. Each Captain would record the 4 songs they had written with their chosen group, and then choose four different singers, one for each song.

"When Monte originally left me a voicemail about this, I thought to myself, "Oooo-kaay...Monte's back on the crack again". I figured if I simply didn't return the call, it would all just disappear into the ridiculously complex crack-pipe haze that it had emerged from. But lo and behold, that guy managed to pester and prompt nearly 60 of us self-absorbed fuckers to be a part of this, and god damn if he didn't make shit happen. Hails and salutations to Monte Conner!

"Team Flynn was comprised of 5 main musicians: Andols Herrick (ex-Chimaira) on drums, Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory) on bass, Jordan Wheland (Still Remains) aka "The Pick Slide King" on rhythm guitar, Jeff Waters (Annihilator) on face-peeling shredder solos, and myself on rhythm guitar, keyboard and vocals. I wrote the music for 2 songs myself, "The Dagger" and "Rich Man", Dave McClain co-wrote the song "Army Of The Sun" with me, and Phil Demmel contributed a riff for "Independent". I produced and arranged all of the tracks at the same location used for the recording of Through The Ashes Of Empires (Sharkbite Studios) along with the honorable Sir Markus O'Keatonus on Lead Pro Tools. We rehearsed and recorded the songs in a week and a half, and I want to give a special shout-out to Andols for being the burger worshipping, drum-part-writing-out, saving the day super-slayer! He WROTE all of his drum parts out in drum-ese (drum-erican, drum-ish, drum-adian) and ate burgers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every day for 3 days...FUCK YEAH!!

"When it came to the songs, I began writing them based around who I would like to sing them and then catering it to the singer. There was no guarantee that I would get the singers I wanted, as they could obviously go with any of the other Captains for whatever reason. But, being the humble fella that I am, I figured I'd go for the biggest and best singers on the label... why not huh? All that they could do was say no. I started envisioning Max from Soulfly/Sepultura on an old school Chaos A.D.-style thrash track, I imagined Corey from Slipknot on a long, slow, eerie, Sabbath-heavy track, I imagined Howard from Killswitch on a More Things Change-style track, and I imagined Tim Williams of VOD/Bloodsimple fame (and one of my favorite singers of all time) on a melodic but heavy, Muse-style track. Well, lo and behold, I got all four singers I wanted, and I haven't the slightest fuckin' clue how I managed to pull that off.

"Max, Corey and Tim recorded their parts near their hometowns of Phoenix, Des Moines, and New York respectively, while Howard asked me to produce his vocals here in Oakland. Mr. Jones flew out to Sharkbite for a couple of days, and we bounced ideas around while grubbing on bomb-ass vegetarian-chicken fried rice from Golden Lotus and ass-kickin' pollo adobado burritos from Cancun Taqueria. I had written a vocal melody and some lyrics for a melodic part that he loved, and as we were banging ideas back and forth, he asked if I'd sing on the track with him. At first I was like, "Nah, this is all you dude!", and he was like, "No man, I really want you to sing on this with me", but I was still like, "I don't know man", then he was like, "Dude, I really want you to sing on this with me", and ya know...Howard is a very large man, who just happens to be built like a brick fucking shithouse...so, I enthusiastically said "OK!" and we rocked the fuck out. I ended up singing some of his lyrics on the pre-chorus, we both sang the melodic hook, did some screech trade-offs, and basically kicked that fucker's ass! So much so, that at one point, we joked that this duet was the frickin' "Ebony and Ivory" of Metal. For me, it was probably the toughest song to part with musically, since it could have easily been a Machine Head song, but Mr. Jones fucking KILLED IT, so if it had to go, at least it went in supreme style. Amazing singer, really good dude, killer vibe.

"I gotta say, all of their contributions were phenomenal. Max's voice sounds hard as fuck, Tim's vocals are incredible and so damned original, and Corey Taylor just sounds fucking PISSED - very politically charged, and his voice has that mesmerizing quality that takes me back to something like "Bother" from Stone Sour, before kicking into that satanic vocal heaviness, like something off of the first Slipknot album. I LOVE this song!

"The coolest thing about this is that, as amazing as everything had turned out going into the music stage of it all, I think it's the singers who really brought the final touch to the table and made these songs come alive. I feel like I gave them some good songs, and these guys made them great songs. Even though it felt like I was cheating on my band the whole time, I'm really stoked with the results, and want to thank my guys for patiently allowing me to take part in this very unique project. Having heard many of the other tracks from the other Captains, this record is going to be fuckin' awesome for a metal fan."

Cheers, Fuckers!

57 ARTISTS, 47 BANDS, 19 TRACKS, 1 RELEASE

ROADRUNNER UNITED ? THE ALL-STAR SESSIONS,
57 ARTISTS, 45 BANDS, 19 TRACKS, 4 TEAM CAPTAINS? 1 GROUNDBREAKING ALBUM

New York, NY - Roadrunner Records has put together a groundbreaking record to mark the label's 25th Anniversary. The group is called Roadrunner United and the album titled The All-Star Sessions. This full length release, in stores on October 11, 2005, is a 'master-class' in hard rock/metal. Boasting 57 artists from 45 of Roadrunner's past and present bands, the album will contain original tracks that are collaborations between numerous Roadrunner stars.

Four central musicians were originally chosen to produce and write the songs. Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria), Robert Flynn (Machine Head) and Matthew Heafy (Trivium). These four musicians play on the songs they have written and have also assembled a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician has played for more than one writer/producer and each song features a different vocalist.

In addition to these stellar teams of musicians, there will also be special additional tracks from ex-Roadrunner artist, Josh Silver - Type O Negative's longtime producer / keyboardist. In the spirit of the project, Silver has included Roadrunner artists on his tracks as well? Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt appears on the Silver-written ?Roads.?

Track names from the Jordison team include ?Constitution Down? (with vocals by Kyle Thomas of Floodgate), ?Tired 'N Lonely? (with vocals from Keith Caputo of Life of Agony) and ?Annihilation By The Hand Of God? (with vocals from Glen Benton of Deicide) among others. Flynn's camp has completed songs like ?The Dagger? (with vocals from Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage) and ?The Rich Man? (with vocals from Corey Taylor of Slipknot) among others. ?The End? (with vocals from Matt Heafy of Trivium) and ?The Enemy? (with vocals from Mark Hunter of Chimaira) are some of the team-Cazares product. And tracks from Heafy's sessions include ?The Dawn of a Golden Age? (with vocals from Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth), ?Superheroes? (with vocals from Michale Graves of The Misfits) and ?Blood and Flames? (with vocals from Jesse Leach ? ex-Killswitch Engage singer).

MORE ALL STARS ANNOUNCED

In celebration of Roadrunner's 25 Anniversary, we are releasing an 'All Stars' album...and more confirmations on this release are in. Press release on the news as follows:

ROADRUNNER ?ALL- STARS? ALBUM,
PROGRESS INCLUDES A NEW CAPTAIN AND NEW TEAM MEMBERS!

New York, NY - Roadrunner Records has advanced in the process of putting together the groundbreaking ?Roadrunner All-Stars? record to mark the label's 25th Anniversary. The full-length release will contain original musical collaborations between past and present Roadrunner artists. Approximately 50 musicians are expected to participate in this record, making it a most elaborate collaboration project.

Four central musicians have been chosen to produce and write all the songs. Previously announced were Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria) and Robert Flynn (Machine Head). The fourth writer/producer has recently been selected - 19 year-old metal prodigy Matt Heafy will take the lead of the fourth team. His band, Trivium, has been called ??the valedictorian(s) of the 2005 metal class? by HIT PARADER Magazine. ?It blew my mind to be asked to participate on this album and write a few tracks,? says Heafy ?It's an amazing honor to be able to record with artists that I used to emulate and listen to growing up.? These four musicians will not only play on the songs they have written but also assemble a unique team of Roadrunner artists to appear on each track.

Notable progress has been made in Jordison's, Cazares' and Flynn's teams. Music has been laid down, but vocals have yet to be added. The vocalists for the tracks have not been confirmed as of yet. The artists that have contributed to the tracks recorded thus far are:

Rob Barrett (Malevolent Creation)
Matt Baumbach (Vision Of Disorder)
Dino Cazares (Fear Factory/Brujeria)
Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus)
Matt DeVries (Chimaira)
Marcelo Dias (Soulfly)
Robert Flynn (Machine Head)
Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory/Front Line Assembly)
Paul Gray (Slipknot)
Andols Herrick (Chimaira)
Steve Holt (36 Crazyfists)
Joey Jordison (Slipknot)
Andreas Kisser (Sepultura)
Logan Mader (Machine Head)
Roy Mayorga (Soulfly)
Dave McClain (Machine Head)
James Murphy (Obituary/Disincarnate)
Tommy Niemeyer (Gruntruck)
Nadja Peulen (Coal Chamber)
Dave Pybus (Cradle Of Filth)
Souren ?Mike? Sarkisyan (Spineshank)
Acey Slade (Murderdolls)
Jeff Waters (Annihilator)
Jordan Whelan (Still Remains)
Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory)

Futher contributions to the album are also expected from:

Corey Beaulieu (Trivium)
Mike D'Antonio (Killswitch Engage)
Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative)
Andy LaRocque (King Diamond)
Tom Holkenberg (Junkie XL)
Josh Silver (Type O Negative)

Though no vocals have been recorded as yet, vocalists scheduled to appear on the album are:

Glen Benton (Deicide)
Keith Caputo (Life Of Agony)
Max Cavalera (Soulfly)
King Diamond (Mercyful Fate/King Diamond)
Dez Fafara (DevilDriver/Coal Chamber)
Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth)
Matthew K. Heafy (Trivium)
Mark Hunter (Chimaira)
Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage)
Brock Lindow (36 Crazyfists)
Jesse Leach (ex-Killswitch Engage)
Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw)
Peter Steele (Type O Negative)
John Tardy (Obituary)
Kyle Thomas (Exhorder/Floodgate)

The project is being overseen by longtime Roadrunner A&R man Monte Conner. ?I feel like Dr. Frankenstein, combining various musicians to form all these different monsters,? says Conner. ?It's an incredible amount of work but I am having the time of my life doing it. In the end, it will sound like a cohesive record. So far, Joey, Robert and Dino have all really worked their asses off, taking this project as seriously as they would their own bands. I am quite indebted to them. They've all done an unbelievable job.?

Mixing duties will be handled by legendary hard rock producer, Colin Richardson. The album is tentatively scheduled for release in the Fall of 2005.

NEW CD RELEASE DATE

"WE HAVE A RELEASE DATE," exclaims the latest update sent out to Sinch's mailing list. And the rest of it goes like this:

Yes, it's the news you've all been waiting (and waiting and waiting) for. it's been the subject of almost every email we've gotten for the past year and a half, so I know everyone has one thing on their minds...

The new album will be released in the US on March 22, 2005 through Rock Ridge Music.

This week we signed a deal with Rock Ridge Music to release our new album "Clearing the Channel" (produced by Sinch and Drew Mazurek) on March 22, 2005. We do not have immediate plans for a proper international release (that will hopefully come later) but you will most certainly be able to order the album online and have it shipped to you wherever you are in the world.

We're currently working out all the details of the release and imminent touring schedule so check back soon. There is much more to come...

Let me also just say that we appreciate all the support that we've been getting over the past year or two. Things haven't exactly gone according to plan, but the album is finally coming out. Thanks to everyone for sticking with us and being patient.

SINCH SYSTEMS A-GO

Sinch is currently writing material for a new album...in fact, word from the band is that they are close to completion and will start recording fairly soon. As the band is currently focusing on a new album, there are no plans for shows any time in the near future, at least not until recording of the new album is complete.

HOWEVER, in the meantime, they are looking for your help in regards to a DVD to accompany the new album. Details from the band are as follows:

BE A PART OF OUR UPCOMING DVD PROJECT
--------------------------------------

We need some help.

For our next album, we are putting together a DVD that will be included as a bonus disc. Details on what will be included on the DVD will be announced at a later date, but one of the things we'd like to include is some video content submitted by fans.

You can submit pretty much anything you want, but we have a few guidelines and suggestions (see below) that you might want to take a look at. Basically, we're trying to leave it pretty much wide open so you can be creative and hopefully come up with some interesting stuff. Obviously, we're asking for video content, but if you don't have access to a video camera you can do something else: artwork, photos, animation, audio recording, etc. Keep in mind that we will require that you sign a release form (which you can find down below) to allow us to use whatever you send in. If you're not comfortable with that, we can understand, but unfortunately we won't be able to include your submission on the DVD.

So here are some guidelines and suggestions:

- First of all, submissions must be all original content. Meaning that you can't record something off of the TV or from another DVD and you can't include any music, words or images that you do not own the copyright to.

- We will accept submissions in the following formats: MiniDV (preferred), VHS, VHS-C, Hi-8/8mm, DVD, CD-ROM. We prefer MiniDV or one of the other tape formats, but we'll try to accept pretty much anything you have. Obviously, for stuff other than video, we can accept it in whatever format you have. If it is scanned photos or artwork, the higher the resolution the better.

- Answer the following question: "What is the Ocular Noise Machine?"

- Answer the following question: "What is Sinch?"

- Explain how you discovered the band, an experience you had at a show, an experience you had listening to our music, or anything that is somehow related to the band.

- Explain something that is completely random and unrelated to this band. Show us your collection of questionable medical devices. Take us on a tour of your local UFO landing site. Interview your local gas station attendant about the possibility of a fourth dimension. Whatever.

All submissions should be sent to:

Sinch
P.O. Box 1624
Doylestown, PA 18901

All submissions MUST INCLUDE the following, signed release form:

http://www.sinch.net/news/SinchDVD_ReleaseForm.doc

We don't have a specific deadline just yet, but try to have your submission to us by the end of August. We will probably have a more specific date as we get closer to completing the album. Also, we will not be returning any submissions, so be sure to make copies before you send anything in.

And once again, if your submission does not include a signed release form, we will not be able to use it.

Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

UPDATES FROM THE STUDIO

some current notes of interest from the studio this week:

36 Crazyfists - up in Portland writing and laying some tunes down to tape. Currently sussing out the producer situation, the boys from Alaska could be entering the studio as early as May.

Deathride - Dez's new clan is all out in L.A. shacked up in a hotel, readying to record their debut piece of the metal. Drum tracking will start this weekend. Ross Hogarth - who did the latest Coal Chamber album - will be producing and mixing the LP.

Dirty Americans - pure rock n' roll, it is...and their debut recording should be finished come next week...

goneblind - Randy Staub will start mixing their first full length effort come Thursday (03/07). Scene of the crime, Vancouver.

Ill Nino - the band has been laying down tracks for demos. Should be starting pre-production with producer Bob Marlette next week. Recording of their sophomore effort will take place in illustrious northern New Jersey, home of the Meadowlands (the New York football Giants and Jets).

Killswitch Engage - writing right now. Should have a new record come summer, around the time they head out on this year's Ozzfest. This will be their first album with vocalist the Howard Jones. Oh, and their live video for "Fixation On The Darkness" - also with the Howard Jones on vocals - is close to completion.

Nickelback - recording as we speak...hitting the studio (Greenhouse in Vancouver) here and there to lay down this and that...should have a new Nickelback album complete come first thing in June.

Sinch - they are writing...and will be laying down a few new tracks to tape come the end of March. This will happen in Philly...we do hear it is lovely there this time of year.

THIS, is The Production Gospel According to Dave...Phase II is upon us...you have been warned...resistance is futile...
