SLIPKNOT SCARES THE BEJESUS OUT OF THE FN CROWD
Slipknot's "Psychosocial" video from the upcoming All Hope Is Gone release on 8.26.08 scared the hell out of th FN MTV Premieres crowd on Friday night. Expect a longer version of the video to premiere in this space soon. For now, check out the radio edit below.

I had a friend show me the new video on YouTube over the weekend. Very mediocre I must admit. Although it's nice to see their guitarist actually seems to have decided to actually write competent solos this time around. One of the things I hated most about their last album outside of being all over the place and not very heavy half the time, which by far was the worst thing I'd ever heard from these guys outside of Stone Sour (I fucking hate that band) was the terrible lead work. Those solos on the last album just sounded like a smattering of notes to me. At least that solo actually went somewhere, and actually made some sense in the context of the song. However...still not very impressed at all. Very average and I'm not surprised they'd use what likely will end up being the lightest, MTV-friendly sing-songy chorus song on the album, as they've done with every one of their albums.
This song was easily forgetable to me in about 5 or 10 minutes. Then again, it's easy to forget Slipknot when you go pop in some Grave (Soulless album) and Sepultura (Beneath the Remains) immediately after hearing this yawn of a song...

I think Slipknot are doing a great job, I was listening to all of their albums the last week, and I found if they hadn't have changed their sound up from the first two albums, everyone would have gotten bored, at least I would have. I am extremely happy to see the melodies and singing and the art of music they are showing. Boo hoo if you want something "heavier", they still play songs from Iowa and the Self Titled on live shows. They are still the same minds that wrote it all. I find it hard for them to sell out for money. I wouldn't waste my time and multiple years on the road and years writing music, if I didn't love it. It is their job, and that IS how they make money though. I can't wait for the album, and another tour.

One of the things that piss me off the most is him and Corey and half the band have these idiotic Roadrunner press releases in a media blitz before every album where they blather on all this total horseshit about how no other bands out there are worth shit, they are nothing, they're not real like them, etc. etc. It's that kind of pompous bullshit, especially when your music doesn't back up those kind of statements at all, that makes people say fuck 'em. If it were coming from a band like Obituary, Amon Amarth, Opeth, Meshuggah, etc., hell, even Machine Head after their last album, I'd be far more inclined to believe the hype. Slipknot still has the same ridiculous Korn-esque childish lyrics from their early albums and now have the pussy Stone Sour influence and lack of ideas to go with it. I find it funny how this band ran out of ideas after Iowa. Funny, most of the material from their debut and a big chunk of Iowa was reworked material from Mate Feed Kill Repeat anyway, before that dumb cunt Corey joined anyway. Sseems like a strange "coincidence" that this band has gone soft and generally run out of ideas with him on vocals and when they ran out of material to milk from the pre-Corey and pre-Roadrunner days....

well its funny that after that "dumb cunt corey" joined slipknot became what it did. like i said before you cant do the same shit over and over again. you cant make four fucking albums and not change. it shows that they have matured over the years. you dont like the new stuff, thats your fucking problem. and in regards to them going soft, thats just bullshit. there are a few songs that arent rip your fucking head off heavy but they are good songs. other songs like three nil and the nameless are fucking awesome. the virus of life is very dark. the heaviness is second to the actual music. the music is what its about. there arent many albums that can kick your ass one minute and then let you recover just to kick your ass again. and as far as korn goes they have pretty much sucked since day one. you cant put the two bands in the same category. the lyrics are nothing alike and anything slipknot does or will do will destroy korn on any given day. this is what slipknot wants to happen though. they want people like you and me to do just what we are doing now. they know some people will hate it and they know some people will love it. so it doesnt matter.. its about the music and the effect the music has on the fans and the people who arent.

At first Psychosocial didn't do much for me. But over time the song has grown on me and I must say that I do like it more now than I did at first. I love the new masks. I feel sorry for the fans that want Slipknot to remain present with their old sounds (Slipknot, Iowa) If you people want the same thing repackaged then you might as well join the 16 year olds that fell in love with Vol. 3 and claim that Duality is their greatest song. Fucking pathetic. I for one want the band to grow and experiment with other sounds and new looks. Unlike some bands that just stay with one sound and never grow. And I have to touch on this subject because I laugh everytime I see someone poke at it. When Slipknot is doing interviews or just talking to the media in general of course their going to claim to be the best band out their, for their image it's a good thing. WHO'S WATCHING THE SLIPKNOT VIDEO PREMIERE?
Any of you maggots who are first hearing of this news must really be living, or should i say, crawling under a rock.
Slipknot's new video for the single "Psychosocial" is making its world premiere tonight at 8:00EST on MTV's show FN MTV.
The video was shot at Sound Farm Studios in Jamaica, IA and will feature performance footage of the band.
