DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara announced on Twitter that he's making a guest appearance on the upcoming Soulfly album (which has neither title nor release date at this point, just so you know). DevilDriver guitarist Mike Spreitzer had to sit out the band's recent South American tour after suffering a seizure, but he's back on the road with them now, and he's contributed to MetalSucks.net's "Rigged" column, where guitarists talk about their onstage equipment. Says Spreitzer, "My live rig signal chain starts with my ESP MS-1 guitar loaded with EMG 81 pickups and Dunlop Strings (sizes 10-13-17-30-42-63). We usually tune to Drop-C except for a few songs that we play in D-Standard.

DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara was interviewed by the site myYearbook.com on the eve of the band's tour with Arch Enemy, Skeletonwitch and Chthonic (click here for dates). In the course of the lengthy conversation, he talks about the band's creative process, the state of the music industry, and perhaps most surprisingly, his feelings about his former band, Coal Chamber. DevilDriver Covers Metallica For "Metal Hammer" Compilation CD

 
DevilDriver has recorded a cover of Metallica's "Holier Than Thou" for a Metal Hammer compilation CD, to be included with the magazine's September 2011 issue. The issue and the CD are a 20th anniversary tribute to Metallica's self-titled "black album," and all but one of the cover versions featured are exclusive recordings. You can hear a sample of DevilDriver's take on "Holier Than Thou" with the SoundCloud player below. DevilDriver will be touring North America with Arch Enemy, Chthonic and Skeletonwitch starting next week.
