First Louis C.K., now Sarah Silverman; Doug Stanhope's fellow comedians can't seem to stop singing his praises. Last night, Silverman pleaded with Hollywood to give Stanhope his own show, in a message read by her over 2 million followers on Twitter.

Back in August, Doug Stanhope appeared on an episode of fellow comedian Louis C.K.'s show Louie, and got rave reviews for his performance as Eddie, a suicidal, burned-out former friend of C.K.'s. Now, in the third installment of a four-part interview with the AV Club, discussing the entire season, we get C.K.'s view of that episode, including why he cast Stanhope and how the whole thing came together. Says C.K., "I wrote this thing and I started to hear him in my head as I wrote it.

As we mentioned last week, Doug Stanhope appeared on Louis CK's hit FX show Louie last week, playing an old friend of CK's who was contemplating suicide and wanted CK to join him on a final binge. The episode got great reviews, with Stanhope's performance receiving particular notice.

Doug Stanhope will be guest-starring on an episode of Louis CK's hilarious show Louie tonight. Many comedians have appeared on the show throughout its two seasons, including Nick DiPaolo, Todd Barry, Dane Cook and Joan Rivers, but they usually appear as themselves - Stanhope will be playing a friend of CK's, "Eddie," a character that was written especially for him.

Comedian Doug Stanhope announced today that he will be playing the Litla-Hraun prison in Iceland on September 25, 2011.  “I've finally landed a gig in Iceland where I've always wanted to go,” said Stanhope. “My wife Bingo and I planned a trip over at the end of September and the Mayor of Reykjavik, comedian Jon Gnarr, is hooking me up with a gig playing at the only maximum security prison in the country.

He'll be joining Richard Belzer, Dave Attell, Janeane Garofalo, and Glenn Wool. The Green Room offers comedy fans the chance to see the world's greatest comedians in a roundtable setting, speaking off-the-cuff and uncensored in front of a studio audience.
