The worst of them are cheap cash-ins, inessential releases for collectors only; but at their best, they come close to replicating the unforgettable atmosphere of actually being there when a great band hits a groove in front of an energetic and responsive audience.

Robb Flynn is obviously a Rush fan; the CD/DVD special edition of Machine Head's latest album, Unto the Locust, includes a cover of "Witch Hunt," from Moving Pictures, which—coincidentally—the Canadian trio plays in its entirety on their new double disc, Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland, which hits stores tomorrow. Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn was interviewed a while back by Katie P., the host of Kerrang! magazine's podcast. Based on the questions, the interview predates the late September release of the band's latest album, Unto the Locust, but is being released now because Machine Head have just launched a European tour with DevilDriver.

Flynn and the band spent much of 2008 and 2009 touring as Metallica's opening act, and that was a major inspiration to Machine Head.
