Interview by Jeff Treppel Megadeth’s upcoming CD, TH1RT3EN, is guitarist Chris Broderick’s second with the group, and it allows him to showcase his classically-influenced, harmonically rich style in a variety of settings, from the head-down, high-tech thrash heard on the band’s last CD, 2009’s Endgame, to more melodic, anthemic songs reminiscent of albums like Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia. We reached out to Chris to find out how he feels about TH1RT3EN, what he feels he brings to Megadeth, and more. (This is the first in a four-part series of interviews with all four members of Megadeth, leading up to the release of TH1RT3EN on November 1.) Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Tweets About Recovery From Surgery

 
Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine offered the above update on his condition following his recent neck surgery. The TreadClimber he mentions is a cardiovascular exercise machine, similar to a treadmill.  Mustaine underwent surgery to relieve stenosis in his neck; it's a bone disease that causes the spinal canal, the space within the vertebrae through which the spinal cord passes, to narrow.

Megadeth have announced that their package tour, Gigantour, will return next year, for the first time since 2008. As usual for Gigantour (which last time included In Flames, Children of Bodom, Job for a Cowboy and High On Fire), the lineup includes a cross-section of metal and hard rock.

Megadeth's Chris Broderick To Co-Host Winter Guitar Retreat With Testament's Alex Skolnick

 
Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick and Testament's Alex Skolnick have teamed up to create  the first annual Skolnick & Broderick’s Winter Guitar Retreat. The retreat will be a four-day, five-night program of studying and jamming with Broderick and Skolnick at the Full Moon Resort in New York’s Catskill Mountains, from December 26-30, 2011. The event will include master classes with Skolnick and Broderick, jam sessions, open mic nights and optional private lessons.
