Opeth guitarist Fredrik Åkesson sat down to answer fan-submitted questions for the guitar website Fret12.com when the band was in Chicago on their North American tour. It's in large part a gear-centered conversation: he takes you through his live rig and demonstrates his signature PRS model.
Opeth bassist Martin Mendez was interviewed by Stormbringer when the band played Germany. He doesn't do nearly as many interviews as Mikael Åkerfeldt or Fredrik Åkesson, so this one is worth checking out.
Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt was interviewed by Freethinkers Blog when the band was in Austria on tour, supporting their new album Heritage. It's an interesting interview, broken into two parts below; he talks about his affection for '70s and '80s metal, his feeling that in the wake of Heritage, his creative options are wide open, his ambivalence about touring, and much more. He plays the riffs at regular speed, then at half speed, then breaks them down into their component parts—so all you guitarists, pay close attention! Here's the video:
And here are those riffs in their proper context, in the video for the song itself:

Fredrik discusses his favorite Heritage tracks, his early influences on guitar (including Ace Frehley, Angus Young, Michael Schenker and Yngwie Malmsteen), working in a factory as a teenager to afford to buy himself an amplifier, and much more. Check it out below:

Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt was recently interviewed by the website RushOnRock, and talked about the recent change in his vocal style (you may have noticed there are no death growls on the band's latest album, Heritage) and fan response to the new material, among other subjects. Says Åkerfeldt, "I’ve never turned my back on anything and I’m not going to start now. It’s not like I don’t like that style of vocal delivery any more.
