Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt was interviewed by the site Rock Music Critic when the group played Baltimore, Maryland on November 1, the last date of their North American tour in support of their latest album, Heritage. It's a pretty funny video, because Mikael—who says at the outset that he's just woken up—looks completely fried from the month-long tour, and the framing makes the whole thing seem like an interrogation.

Story by Leonard Pierce Live albums can be a tricky proposition. The worst of them are cheap cash-ins, inessential releases for collectors only; but at their best, they come close to replicating the unforgettable atmosphere of actually being there when a great band hits a groove in front of an energetic and responsive audience.

Our friends at Roadrunner Germany point us to the German website Rockinvasion, where Mikael Åkerfeldt and Martin Axenrot of Opeth are subjected to a Rorschach test, where they are asked to interpret inkblot patterns. The intro is in German, obviously, but the musicians' answers are in English and fairly hilarious, so head over there and check it out!.

Nardwuar is a Canadian radio and TV personality who conducts lunatic interviews with virtually every type of musician that comes to Vancouver, Canada. His demeanor is hilariously nerdy and obnoxious, but he does a lot of research, not only about the musician he's going to be interviewing but about their home country and anything else he can come up with in order to ask questions nobody else is likely to ask.

Opeth's latest studio album, Heritage, is a major departure for the band, leaving behind the death growls and savagely heavy riffing that have been among their sonic trademarks for most of their career, in favor of a more complex, rhythmically supple and progressive sound.
