The brand-new Trivium album, In Waves, has landed at #13 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, selling over 22,000 copies its first week in stores. The band also seized the #1 slot on both Billboard Hard Music charts.
Trivium guitarist Corey Beaulieu was interviewed by Away-Team.com recently, discussing everything from how he joined Trivium straight out of audio engineering school to functioning as half of a two-guitar team with frontman Matt Heafy. Says Beaulieu, "I joined the band about a month before I graduated, so after I graduated I just went full on with the band. And eventually it all took off and did what it’s done and we are lucky enough to make a career out of it.
Trivium frontman Matt Heafy was recently interviewed by Musik Universe when the band played the Heavy MTL festival in Canada the weekend of July 23 and 24. In the conversation, Heafy explains how In Waves is different from all previous Trivium albums, talks about the replacement of former drummer Travis Smith with Nick Augusto, and much more.
Trivium performed at this year's Wacken Open Air festival in Germany on August 5, and the set was streamed online. A lot of Roadrunner bands have new albums out or coming soon: Theory of a Deadman and Trivium's latest are already out, and Dream Theater, Opeth, and Machine Head will all be releasing hotly anticipated new albums in September. Trivium frontman Matt Heafy was recently interviewed by the #1 horror website, Bloody-Disgusting.com. In the course of the conversation, he talked about the album's visual style and how it works in tandem with the music, the recording process, and much more. Regarding In Waves generally, Heafy said, "it’s probably the first time that Trivium has been completely definable in every single aspect, where it’s not just an auditory experience anymore but we’re taking the visuals in ways that the music videos match the music, match the lyrics, match the packaging, match the way the band looks, and everything is one cohesive package." He described the at times difficult recording process in detail, too, saying, "The vocal process had me doing about four to six to eight hours per day.

The official listening party for Trivium's brand-new album, In Waves, is being held tonight at Idle Hands Bar in New York City. The event, hosted by Metal Army America, begins at 9 PM - there will be special guests in the house, drink specials all night, and the album will be played in its entirety.
