KISS Featured On CNN; Video Available - Nov. 5, 2009
Video footage of legendary rockers KISS showing their support for wounded warriors and reflecting on their 35-year-career with CNN's Naamua Delaney can be viewed below.

Guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley says that he feels no shame in KISS being lumped in with other vintage, or classic rock acts — in fact, the band is thrilled with the fact that they're now spanning there different generations with their music and bombastic live shows.

Stanley, who's out on the road with KISS in support of their first album in a decade, called "Sonic Boom", told Metal Hammer magazine, "I'm proud to be in the category of classic rock bands — what's better than the word 'classic?' Are you kidding? If you want to call LED ZEPPELIN a classic rock band and then you want to call us a classic rock band, I'm not fighting. If I'm going to be lumped in with anybody, let me be lumped in with my heroes. That doesn't preclude you from being current. It means that you have a solid history and a foundation, which most bands will never achieve because they won't survive that long."

"Gus plays with a great sense of melody and when he combines his technical chops and tone, out comes mind-blowing riffs," said Joe Palombo, Executive Director of Rock House. "More than just a shredder, Gus really plays with tremendous amounts of feel. His work with FIREWIND and DREAM EVIL show his has incredible writing abilities and versatility."

With production slated to begin in November 2009, details of the programs are still being finalized with Gus; but you can bet that Rock House will take an in-depth look at his technique, how he constructs his leads, how he writes melodies and harmonies, and much more. Gus spoke out about getting the job with Ozzy in a recent Greek edition of Metal Hammer magazine. Asked how he got the gig, Gus said, "I got a message on my MySpace page from Rob 'Blasko' (Nicholson), Ozzy's bass player, asking me what was doing, if I was living in America or not and saying that he wanted to talk to me. I never thought he'd want me for something like that (playing with Ozzy). I initially thought that maybe he wanted to talk to me about doing a project or something and then he told me that one of Ozzfest's managers was looking for me. The manager said that they wanted me to fly out to Los Angeles immediately for a show that Ozzy was about to do in Anaheim, California."

Gus added that he came to the States and jammed with the other members of Ozzy's band first before Ozzy showed up to sing. Then Gus explained what happened: "Everybody else came into the room and shut the door behind them — Ozzy, Sharon (Osbourne, Ozzy's wife/manager), the band, the managers... You can imagine how anxious I was feeling at this time! Then they came out and said that I got the job and that we're gonna play that BlizzCon show together."

As for replacing longtime Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde, who apparently did not find out until late in the game that he was being sidelined, Gus said, "Zakk is a tremendous guitar player, just like all the guys that have played with Ozzy. In fact, Zakk is my favorite Ozzy guitar player ever and my biggest influence of them all! It's quite an honor for me to step into his shoes."

GENE SIMMONS Offers Fans Chance To Own His Signature Axe Bass Guitar - Nov. 5, 2009
Gene Simmons, co-founder of the legendary KISS, has announced fans will be able to get their own licks in with the purchase of a limited and personally signed edition of the Gene Simmons Axe Bass.
Rock Star gallery in Scottsdale Arizona, which specializes in music collectibles and celebrity fine art, will host a meet-and-greet on November 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for fans who purchase Gene's Axe Bass. It will be private and refreshment will be served.

Created by a true music visionary, Simmons has invented the ultimate memorabilia in a one-of-a-kind collector's edition instrument that is personally hand numbered and signed by Gene Simmons himself. And every purchase of the Gene Simmons Axe Bass will also include a meet-and-greet with Simmons, at Rock Star gallery 15220 N. Scottsdale Road suite 160 Scottsdale, Az. 85254 in Kierland Commons.

"The Gene Simmons Axe Bass is, by some accounts a piece of art — numbered and signed by myself... but in other ways, is simply my instrument of choice in KISS. The bass that slays them all..." says Simmons.

Fans can reserve and submit an order of the Axe Bass by calling Rock Star gallery, 480-275-4501 or email info@rockstargallery.net. The fans will then be able to attend the private meet-and-greet the evening before the concert on November 30. This meet-and-greet with Simmons will include him personally handing the Axe Bass to the buyer and autographing it for them. There will also be photo opportunities.

The KISS concert in Phoenix on December 1 is part of the 2009 KISS tour, a legendary trek across to America to deliver songs off the critically acclaimed, much-awaited new "Sonic Boom" CD, the first new KISS studio album release in over a decade.

The official Gene Simmons Axe tour bus will shadow the KISS tour covering more than 45 dates across the U.S. and Canada. Gene will arrive at Rock Star gallery in the Axe Tour Bus for the meet-and-greet and it may be featured in the upcoming season of Simmons' hit A&E reality show, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels".

"You could also play this bass on any stage in the world because it's better than anything out there," he says.

The rocker has only this Axe to grind when it comes to this special bass guitar with its unique design and unique, loud sound. The limited edition and numbered silver metallic with a black burst was personally created by Simmons who approved the electronics, the body type, design and even handpicked the wood. The fingerboard is made from Indian Rosewood and each Axe Bass comes with a case that is also designed and hand painted by Simmons.

Simmons owns the trademark to the word "Axe" and has for over 25 years. He also owns the trademark to the distinctive Axe shape of the bass.

"I've used the Axe on stage and literally thousands of people have contacted me to ask, 'Where can I get one? Gene, I need one right now. Can I buy your bass?'

"So, I've made a limited number of the basses, and since this has been announced, the results have been on the tsunami level," Simmons says.

Fans are encouraged to call as soon as possible as there are only a limited number and over 60% are already sold.

Rock Star gallery, located in Scottsdale Arizona, is the perfect venue for this event. Michael Dunn, owner of the gallery, is honored to host Gene Simmons and his fans. "Growing up KISS was THE BAND. The uniqueness of this group is unparallel to any other. Gene Simmons cares about his fans and we will make this a night to remember," Dunn says.

The Rock Star gallery features custom-framed, hand-signed collectibles from KISS, LED ZEPPELIN, THE EAGLES and many more. Celebrity artwork is also featured from Ronnie Wood, Grace Slick, Stephen Holland, Sebastian Kruger and more.

"We help people experience probably the best time in their life with their favorite music and art. Purchasing the Simmons Axe Bass is a rare opportunity for the ultimate guitar and KISS fan," Dunn says.

As KISS fans have known for years, Simmons doesn't just do things in a quiet way. Forget the concept of plunking down a credit card and receiving your Axe Bass from the UPS man. Fans will have a unique experience with the rock icon at the meet-and-greet.

Gene will be doing local radio interviews prior to the meet-and-greet.

Simmons says that the Axe Bass is a gift to his loyal fans.

"I owe the fans everything because they made my life possible," Simmons says. "When I was growing up, I was never able to get a piece of THE BEATLES. They weren't available, but they were still Mt. Olympus to me.

"This Axe Bass is just as special for me and the fans," Simmons says.

"You may not be able to be Gene Simmons," he says. "But you can feel like me, with my Gene Simmons Axe Bass slung over your shoulder."

LEAVES' EYES Frontwoman Interviewed By ROCK MY MONKEY; Audio Available - Nov. 5, 2009
Rock My Monkey recently conducted an interview with Norwegian singer Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull. The chat is now available for streaming using the audio player below.

Since her first appearance in the music business, Liv Kristine — who has been living in Germany for 10 years now — has been one of the most versatile and extraordinary artists in Europe, leaving her mark in numerous genres.

Liv carved her name into gothic metal history with her bands LEAVES' EYES and THEATRE OF TRAGEDY and conquered the pop scene as a solo artist with her beautiful voice. Just recently, LEAVES' EYES' latest album, "Njord", entered the German chart at position No. 30 and "We Came With The Northern Winds" DVD landed at No. 11 on the German music DVD chart.

"Njord", the new full-length album from LEAVES' EYES — the German/Norwegian band formed by Liv and members of ATROCITY — registered the following first-week chart positions:

Germany (Media Control): #30
Germany (Media Markt and Saturn): #24 *
U.K. (Top Independent Label Albums): #40
U.K. (Top Rock Albums): #19

* Media Markt and Saturn are Germany's leading chains for consumer electronics

"My Destiny", the new video from LEAVES' EYES, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Patric Ullaeus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL) of Revolver Film Company in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Photos from the video shoot, as well as a German-language report from guitarist Thorsten "Tosso" Bauer, can be found on the Sounds2Move.de web site.

You Can Rock Like DIMMU BORGIR's SILENOZ - Nov. 5, 2009
From now through November 30, 2009, you can enter to win the "Rock Like Silenoz" sweepstakes. The prize? None other than DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz's exact rig, with the ESP LTD Okkultist guitar and a Blackstar Series One 200W head and a 4x12 Blackstar cabinet.

Only one lucky winner will be chosen at random for this incredible grand prize. Will it be you? Read the rules and regulations below, fill in the entry form, and best of luck!

Enter the contest at this location.

DIMMU BORGIR issued a statement on August 31 confirming keyboardist Mustis' (real name: Øyvind Mustaparta) and bassist/clean vocalist ICS Vortex's (real name: Simen Hestnæs) departures from the group. The statement also downplayed the impact the lineup changes will have on the sound of DIMMU BORGIR next album, insisting that "the creative force in the band is highly intact, perhaps even more so than ever."

Mustis issued a statement on August 30 claiming that his dismissal from DIMMU BORGIR was caused by his efforts to "address the fact that many songs written by me had not been registered properly under my name in their credits. Without naming every single track, let us just say that a good majority of albums like 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia' and 'In Sorte Diaobli' would have been vastly different had I not composed and created as much as I actually did," he said. "Sadly, based on terrible gaps in the communication process and a failure to find logical rationale for why this had been done this way found me hitting wall after wall as opposed to finding a professional and reasonable solution to the problem. My inquiries and investigation into the issues which I wished to resolve and move on from would in the end find me being fired from the group. No discussions about it, just 'goodbye' (via text message)."

Last year's "Blackest Of The Black" tour with DANZIG helped support DIMMU's latest DVD titled "The Invaluable Darkness", which debuted at No. 5 on the Top Music Videos chart in mid-October 2008. It was also the band's last North American tour promoting their eighth studio album, "In Sorte Diaboli", which debuted on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart at No. 2, and on The Billboard 200 chart at No. 43.

SLIPKNOT Frontman Talks Halloween In New Video Interview - Nov. 5, 2009
ShockHound.com recently conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor. The singer talks about Halloween, the Houdini mansion and more. Watch the chat below.

Corey admitted in a new interview with Attitude TV that he tried out as lead singer for VELVET REVOLVER. Taylor said, "I had a meeting with those guys, we did some demos together, and it just didn't work — for whatever reason." He added, "It was just really cool. It was one of those things where it's like I could have got to jam with legends, man, in my opinion. But, you know, it was cool, and I still know those guys, I still hang out with them, and I still have nothing but respect."

VELVET REVOLVER has been searching for a new lead singer for more than 18 months since dismissing Scott Weiland in April 2008.

When Slash was asked about Taylor joining the group a few months ago at his official fan site, he reportedly said that "it looked like it for a minute, but (the band) had decided against it."

Taylor, who also sings in STONE SOUR, was reportedly thinking of taking the frontman spot in veteran thrash act ANTHRAX a couple of years ago.

SLIPKNOT just wrapped up a North American tour on Las Vegas on Halloween (Saturday, October 31) with a headlining gig at the Trinity Of Terrors horror convention.

Taylor next plans to work on the third STONE SOUR record, with sources telling The Pulse of Radio that the band has been meeting with producers in Los Angeles.

SCAR SYMMETRY: New Audio Interview With JONAS KJELLGREN Posted Online - Nov. 5, 2009
Sarjoo Devani of the Explicitly Intense web site recently conducted an interview with guitarist Jonas Kjellgren of Swedish progressive melodic death metallers SCAR SYMMETRY. The chat is now available for streaming using the audio player below.

SCAR SYMMETRY's latest album, "Dark Matter Dimensions", came out on October 2 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The song "Noumenon & Phenomenon" was released as a digital download single on September 18, backed by "Nonhuman Era".

For "Dark Matter Dimensions", SCAR SYMMETRY wanted "more of an in-your-face and organic-sounding album this time around, and I think we managed to create an album like that," drummer Henrik Ohlsson told AOL's Noisecreep. "We kind of lost some of the edge and aggression on the previous album and now we've taken it all back! I mean, we've kept all the key ingredients of our sound on 'Dark Matter Dimensions', but we've taken it all one step further by writing better songs than ever and bringing in some cool stuff that you haven't heard before in SCAR SYMMETRY."

SCAR SYMMETRY parted ways with singer Christian Älvestam last year due to "business and creative differences and lack of interpersonal chemistry." The band explained at the time, "We came to a point where the band's existence was in jeopardy because of these differences, and the only way for us to continue with an inspired state of mind was to go through with this change in the lineup."

Christian has since been replaced by Roberth Karlsson (lead growl vocals and backing clean vocals) and Lars Palmqvist (lead clean vocals and backing growl vocals).

SCAR SYMMETRY's previous album, "Holographic Universe", debuted at No. 33 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

MORBUS CHRON Signs With PULVERISED RECORDS - Nov. 5, 2009
Stockholm, Sweden-based death metallers MORBUS CHRON have inked a deal with Pulverised Records. The band is preparing to enter the studio to record its full-length debut for an early 2010 release.

MORBUS CHRON previously released a self-titled four-track demo tape, which garnered favorable reviews everywhere.

Commented Pulverised label manager Roy Yeo: "I was amazed by MORBUS CHRON when I first heard them; it was almost unbelievable that the band is so young and they could capture the essence of the old death metal style. Influences like AUTOPSY and early ENTOMBED are easily spotted in the songs, but there is just a certain fire and enthusiasm coming from MORBUS CHRON that cannot be described and we are very much looking forward to the debut album!"

States MORBUS CHRON lead singer/guitar player Robert "Robba" Andersson: "We're as excited as we are when robbing graves! Feels fucking great! Like opening a can of ravioli, but even better dude. What can we say? It'll sound disgusting and putrid with just a tiny dose of groovyness. New songs are on the way and it sounds like AUTOP... Ehm, MORBUS! If you're into the old way, you’re into our way. Total fuckin' death!"

MORBUS CHRON will make an appearance at the "Resurrected In Festering Slime Festival" on November 6-7 at the legendary Kafé 44 in Stockholm.

New ROTTING CHRIST Album To Feature Guest Appearance By DIAMANDA GALAS - Nov. 5, 2009
Greece's Metalzone.gr attended a special listening session for ROTTING CHRIST's as-yet-untitled new CD on November 1, 2009 at Athens' Grindhouse Studio (owned by RC guitarist George Bokos). A posting on the site reads, "The album was recorded on Greek grounds, under the Olympus Mountain between July and October 2009 in Lunatech Studios. Production duties were once more handled by Sakis [Tolis, guitar/vocals].

"For the first time we will listen to a lot of guest appearances which make the final result even more interesting. First of all, after all these years we listen to Magus (NECROMANTIA) again in ROTTING CHRIST. Alan from PRIMORDIAL guests in one track of the album giving a shivering effect and then there is the guest appearance of the multi-vocal traditional choir from Ipiros (in Greece's mainland) called Pliades which sings traditional Greek songs that used to be sang in funerals. There is also the guest appearance of Daemonia Nymphe who enhance the ancient Greek element to the sound of ROTTING CHRIST as the theatrical band DIRTY GRANNY TALES which makes the result even darker, haunting and mysterious. As if these all weren't enough, one more surprise is added up to the new album to blow out everything we thought we could expect from the next ROTTING CHRIST album and be left in awe. The one and only, unique Diamanda Galas give an even more intriguing effect to whole album. One song of hers, 'Order From The Dead', in which Sakis took out the bare vocal lines and composed music upon in an absolute breathtaking outcome. A unique song which refers to the Destruction Of Smyrna."

Read more and check out photos from the recording and listening sessions at Metalzone.gr.

ROTTING CHRIST released its long-awaited 2DVD + 2CD digipack, "Non Serviam - A 20 Year Apocryphal Story", in Europe in February via Season of Mist. The set, which was released in the U.S. in May, features the band's most popular and classic songs, including some rare treats, to celebrate their special 20th anniversary show in their hometown Athens in front of a fanatic audience in December 2007. Completing the package is a bonus DVD filled with extra footage from the "Sanctus Diavolos" and "Theogonia" tours, an interview with frontman Sakis Tolis telling the story of the band, bootlegs live videos, promotional clips and much more. Last but not least, these five hours of video are backed by two audio CDs taking up 25 tracks from the Athens show plus seven exclusive tracks recorded live in February 2007 at B-Live in Larisa, Greece.

Yngwie also released two DVDs via Rising Force Records in March — "Live Animal" and "Live In Budokan".

"Perpetual Flame", the latest full-length studio album from Malmsteen, was the first-ever Yngwie effort to be issued via Rising Force Records, It marked the debut of Malmsteen's new singer, ex-JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens.

BLACK SABBATH's BILL WARD On Surviving The Music Business - Nov. 5, 2009
Legendary BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward recently spoke to ClashMusic.com about surviving the music business. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

Read Your Contracts:

"I think one of the things a band needs to have, besides a good accountant, is to sign really good contracts. I'm a victim of wanting fame and fortune so badly that I paid the price for that. I can't speak for the other members of BLACK SABBATH in this regard, but we were all part and parcel of things like that where we signed into not very good contracts. I think it's very important that any band, no matter how humble they may be, they need to sing into good paperwork which allows them what they need to have: freedom and security. Then you need to have a fucking ass-kicking logo and then, above all, you have to have kick-ass songs."

Power To The People:

"The best thing that I can say is to let the audience do what it wants to do. Let the audience react; they have a right to applaud and they have a right to boo. Let the audience be and leave them alone. If you go down well then great, and if you don't go down well, then you've got to go and do it again tomorrow. When you watch Ozzy (Osbourne), he'll go onstage and say, 'Come on, you miserable bastards.' But that's as far as he'll go with it, he just says it to get people to join in. A lot of artists do that but they'll have a point where they'll let go of the audience's reaction."

Have A Laugh:

"One of the biggest things that you've got to do when you're out playing on the road is you have to laugh. And most of all laugh at your fucking self. You have to have a good laugh every single day. You're supposed to be having fun out there; it's not supposed to be all serious - the music can be serious and the discussions can be serious but I have to find those silly, fucking stupid things that happen and really laugh. Otherwise there's no point in being out there."

DAVE MUSTAINE Issues 'Megadeth Radio' Update - Nov. 5, 2009
MEGADETH's "predictably unpredictable" Artist Personal Experience radio station, "Megadeth Radio", officially launched late last month. The band's mainman, Dave Mustaine, has complete creative control in the programming of his 24-hour channel, which features interviews, news, personal commentary, and playlists of his favorite music.

Mustaine has issued the following update:

"We are gearing up for the holidays, and I am feverishly working on more playlists today. I have an appointment this morning and then a slightly busy day, so I am trying to sort out the playlists here.

"One thing that you all have noticed is that there are sometimes glitches, like songs that really shouldn't be on here. I appreciate you not dining on my ass for the KEITH SWEAT song.

"Overall, this is so fun for me, and to be able to have so much great music playing all day long is a rush! I can't wait to start developing shows around the week. Some of my initial ideas were to have holiday shows, which we pulled off with your input and my twisted mind. We are currently working on playlists for Christmas, and this is a period that needs explaining.

"In the music biz, much like all businesses, people go on vacation over the Christmas break. In some cases, the people that are in the music business leave even earlier than the standard two-week break that most families recognize because of the 'school vacation.' Sadly, this really changes the face of the music business, mostly radio and video or TV, because almost everything is set to auto-pilot for the two-plus weeks that these people abandone their posts.

"In radio when the holidays come around, the use of gimmicky songs and holiday favorites start to make their way into your radio or onto your TV. It starts earlier each year, and if you aren't in the right position when these people leave, and when they lock they programs for the break, well then, you just ain't gonna hear anything until after the New Year.

"We have had seasons where we go into Christmas break and we are in the playlists and get locked in rotation when the stations close, and we had them where we were not in the rotation. Let me tell you, it was some of the hardest weeks of my life having a record campaign stalled, and having to sit around for almost a month before you can make any kind of progress again.

"This is where Megadeth Radio comes in.

"You can hear real metal and hard rock music that isn't sold out. Of course, there are so many bands and only so much time that I have each day to organize this, as well as the programmers in New York City. Today I have submitted the entire BLACK SABBATH / BLACK SABBATH with Dio / DIO / RAINBOW / HEAVEN & HELL catalogue and there should be a noticeable change in the level that old Ronnie is being played. He has dominated Megs Radio since we started and I love Ronnie, but I had no idea how much he has done and how inevitable it is too hear him if you are listening to metal. Very eye-opening!

"I should have five or six new lists sorted out, and the only thing slowing me down is trying to remember some of these songs without having the music. Talk about having an 'Itchy Swelling Brain?'

"Well, it is time to finish the morning and work out before I head off to save Gotham City, er, um, I mean to take out the trash and load the dishwasher

"Have a great day, and I hope that this Thanksgiving that all of us can try to heal a relationship with someone, and to make this opportunity to gather and celebrate not another missed opportunity for healing. Hey, I know that sometimes our relatives are lame, but this is about us and not them. Besides I can tell you, you can still be a bad muthaf***er and still be a good dude.

"Each year, thanks to your support, Pam [Dave's wife] and I are able to buy pallets and pallets of toys from Hasbro toy company, with the help of our longtime friend Elaine Hinton. These toys are then sent to the Childrens Hospital for Cancer in San Diego, to many of the various churches to help the homeless (they have kids too), and to the United States Marines for their 'Toys for Tots' program. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for affording us this luxury, to use the finances you have invested in me, to reinvest in our children. Even if it is just a toy, I remember how hard it was for me, and how much I cherished what little I had.

"I have a lot now, thanks to God and to my gift, and definately thanks to you. This is just a small way to pay it back.

"Have a great day, and I have to get started packing again for the Endgame tour that starts in the U.S. with MACHINE HEAD."

According to LiveDaily, an earlier sampling of "Megadeth Radio" revealed cuts from MEGADETH, as well as a varied mix of tunes heavy on classic rock and metal, including vintage cuts from METALLICA, KISS, QUEEN, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, ALICE IN CHAINS, DIO, THE ROLLING STONES and AC/DC. Other tracks included live versions of MEGADETH's "Symphony of Destruction" and FAITH NO MORE's "Epic", as well as studio cuts from LAMB OF GOD and MACHINE HEAD.

Between the musical selections, Mustaine can be heard talking about a variety of topics, including his band's influences, the subject matter for their songs, and his soon-to-open San Diego guitar/music school, where he plans to teach underprivileged youths.

SLAYER Takes Part In L.A. Signing Session; Photos, Report Available - Nov. 5, 2009
SLAYER's Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo took part in a signing session yesterday (Wednesday, November 4) at the Hollywood & Highland Hot Topic (located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028).

Check out a report from LA Weekly.

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, SLAYER's new album, "World Painted Blood", is on track to sell between 35,000 and 40,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

SLAYER's last CD, "Christ Illusion", opened with more than 62,000 units to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart. This was the highest position ever on the chart for SLAYER, who previously reached No. 8 with their 1994 release "Divine Intervention" after moving 93,000 copies of that album in its first week.

SLAYER's 2001 album, "God Hates Us All", registered a first-week tally of 51,000 to land at No. 28, while 1998's "Diabolus In Musica" opened with 46,000 units, debuting at No. 31.

"God Hates Us All" and its predecessor, "Diabolus In Musica", have each sold more than 300,000 copies so far. Several of the earlier SLAYER albums have been certified gold for sales in excess of 500,000 copies in the United States, including "Divine Intervention".

SLAYER was forced to postpone its "Canadian Carnage" tour with MEGADETH, which was due to begin on November 8. In addition, the band has cancelled its appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", which had been set for this Wednesday, November 4. More information will be released shortly regarding the rescheduling of the Canadian dates, as well as the "Kimmel" appearance.

SLAYER's Tom Araya is currently under the care of a specialist for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity, and the physician has ordered an immediate surgical procedure, which was to take place in Texas on Tuesday morning (November 3).

"What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom do whatever he needs to to get this taken care of," said King. "While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health. We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the MEGADETH camp, and everyone associated with 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon."

One of the most notable bands to break out of the Southern Florida music scene in the late Nineties, NONPOINT will release an acoustic digital EP, "Cut The Chord", on December 8 via their own 954 Records in partnership with Rocket Science Ventures / RED / Sony. The five-song effort features acoustic renditions of NONPOINT classics "What A Day", "Circles", "Rabia", "Victim" and "Your Signs".

Formed in 1998, the hard rock quartet from Ft. Lauderdale burst on the scene with its major label debut, "Statement", on MCA Records. Since then, they have sold nearly 700,000 albums and played over 1,000 shows. Known for its dynamic performances, NONPOINT has shared the stage with such acts as MUDVAYNE, SEVENDUST, DISTURBED, HELLYEAH, DROWNING POOL and PAPA ROACH, and has taken part in Ozzfest.

In continuation of a successful 10-plus-year career, NONPOINT is back with a new guitarist, management and record label. The band has entered Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin to work on their full-length album with YEP! Productions' Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett (also members of MUDVAYNE and HELLYEAH) at the helm producing. The CD is slated for a spring 2010 release.

To close out the momentous year, NONPOINT will perform live in Madison, Ft. Lauderdale and Tempe (see dates below) and in celebration of the holidays, 500 digital downloads will be given to the first 500 ticket purchasers at each show.

"Vengeance" was the follow-up to the acclaimed "To The Pain" CD, which featured the breakout single "Bullet With A Name".

NONPOINT teamed up with MUDVAYNE and IN THIS MOMENT for a U.S. tour in February/March.

BYZANTINE To Reunite For Three Shows In March - Nov. 5, 2009
Following their hiatus that has lasted for over two years, the members of West Virginia thrash metal band BYZANTINE have begun plans for a weekend of reunion shows.

Shortly following the January 2008 release of "Oblivion Beckons", the foursome announced that they were disbanding. This announcement came as an unpleasant surprise to their fans, particularly due to the fact that they would not be touring at all in support of their newest album.

Vocalist/rhythm guitarist Chris "OJ" Ojeda had this to say about their upcoming reunion: "Two and a half years ago we put a sudden and abrupt halt to our musical careers under the name BYZANTINE. It was a really anti-climactic way to go out. We know a lot of fans and friends alike felt cheated that we didn't play any shows supporting our last album, 'Oblivion Beckons'. Now we all feel like it's time to give a little something back, all guns blazing. Unfortunately, we are unable to tour since we live scattered across three states, have children and full-time jobs, but we want to give our local fans something to remember us by."

Tickets are not currently available through the band or its web site, but please stay tuned for updates regarding advanced ticket sales.

The schedule is as follows:

March 05 - The Sound Factory, Charleston, WV
March 06 - The V Club, Huntington, WV
March 07 - 123 Pleasant Street, Morgantown, WV

W.E.T.: 'Comes Down Like Rain' Video Released - Nov. 5, 2009
"Comes Down Like Rain", the new video from W.E.T., can be viewed below.

Frontiers Records has set a November 6 European release date (November 24 in the U.S.) for the self-titled debut album from W.E.T. as a special CD/DVD package.

Featuring the immense talents of singer/songwriter Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN); guitarist/songwriter Erik Martensson (ECLIPSE) and keyboardist Robert Sall (WORK OF ART), "(W)ork of art (E)clipse (T)alisman" was written and recorded over the last 12 months and features the best elements of the three bands the principal artists have been involved in.

Commented Erik: "In the beginning it was just a project set up by Frontiers, but somewhere along the process of making it, it evolved into something greater than the project we had started with. We had a fantastic flow in the songwriting and when Jeff recorded his lead vocals it all fell into place."

Added Jeff: "I'm very excited about the W.E.T. project. What a brilliant idea of Frontiers to put the three of us together. I think the album turned even better than we hoped for and I can't wait to see the reactions from the melodic rock fans. I'm really proud of this record and I think a lot of people are gonna 'wet' there pants once they get to hear it!"

He continued, "I knew this was the kind of album a LOT of people wanted me to make so I am quite hopeful it will be amongst one of the biggest things I have done in my career thus far. I have never heard or felt such a buzz for something I am a part of and I couldn't be more proud with my 'brothers in arms,' Erik and Robert, for helping create what shall hopefully become a classic masterpiece."

Regarding the band's future plans, Jeff said, "I believe if it does well enough, we would be silly not to take it on the road. Possibly start with a few select dates to get our feet 'wet,' then see what time and schedules permit. The thing to remember here is we are of three separate and completely different careers that are all currently in motion but in my heart of hearts, I feel this is the beginning of something that will be around for a while, not just a one-off!"

"W.E.T." track listing:

CD:

01. Invincible
02. One Love
03. Brothers In Arms
04. Comes Down Like Rain
05. Running From The Heartache
06. I'll Be There

WITHERED Parts Ways With CHRIS FREEMAN, Announces Replacement - Nov. 5, 2009
Georgia-based blackened doomsters WITHERED have parted ways with guitarist/vocalist Chris Freeman. Vocalist/guitarist Mike Thompson explains, "Chris, after much soul-searching and consideration, decided it was time to leave the front lines and pursue some personal goals that he had been putting off for years. Touring became too much of a burden for him at a time when the rest of WITHERED was striving to push the envelope and increase touring activity.

"Personally, I must say that I'll miss him a lot. We've been playing music together two or three times a week for the last 14 years and mutually conceived WITHERED in 2003. He was key in nurturing the ideology behind our music and lyrics and his contributions will be missed. Despite all of that, Mike, Beau and I completely respect his position and there are no negative feelings towards the situation.

"As for his replacement, our friend, Dylan Kilgore, filled in for Chris on the last leg of the Blackenedfest tour last June. He did an amazing job and his work ethic in learning the songs was unparalleled. So, it was very natural for him to assume Chris' position full time.

"We're moving full steam ahead on the new album and the writing is going better than expected. At this point, we have four new tracks almost completed and anticipate the new album to be released sometime in mid-2010. We'll post more updates as they develop."

WITHERED's latest album, "Folie Circulaire", was released in June 2008 via Prosthetic Records. The 10-track CD was produced by Phillip Cope (KYLESA, BARONESS) and features artwork by Paul Romano as well as guest vocals from NAPALM DEATH's Barney Greenway and a cover of NECROPHOBIC's "Into Armageddon".

KALMAH's New Album Due In January/February - Nov. 5, 2009
Finnish metallers KALMAH have completed work on their sixth album for a January/February 2010 release via Spinefarm Records. The CD, which has a working title of "12 Gauge", was recorded between June and August 2009 at Tico Tico studio in Kemi, Finland and was mastered at the Cutting Room in Sweden. Nine new songs and one cover version were laid down during the sessions which "went [smoothly], as always, even though this time the recordings were done in three different time periods within a half a year."

Regarding the new album's musical direction, lead guitarist Antti Kokko stated, "It is very KALMAH-like, but we haven't forgot to introduce new tuning here and there."

KALMAH was forced to cancel its previously announced shows at the Unirock Extreme Festival in Istanbul, Turkey and Nuclear Nightclub in Oulu, Finland due to a hand injury suffered by the band's guitarist/vocalist Pekka Kokko.

KALMAH's fifth studio album, "For The Revolution", was released in the U.K. in July 2008 via Spinefarm.

For the U.K. version of "Revolution", selected bonus audio/visual content was added to the mix, along with a slipcase bearing exclusive new artwork. The bonus audio track is a cover of SEPULTURA's "Arise", while on the visual side, "The Groan Of Wind" (a song from 2006's "Black Waltz") has also been included as an enhanced video.

"For the Revolution" in May 2008 landed at position No. 17 on the Finnish national album chart. This was the band's strongest chart showing to date in Finland. The CD's cover artwork was designed by former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta, who was also responsible for the artwork of KALMAH's previous album, "The Black Waltz".
