QUEENSRŸCHE Backing Vocalist PAMELA MOORE Performs With PRIMAL FEAR; Video Available - Sep. 15, 2009
Fan-filmed video footage of singer Pamela Moore — who is best known for her performance as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic release "Operation: Mindcrime" and 2006's sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II" — performing the song "Fighting The Darkness" with German melodic metallers PRIMAL FEAR on September 13, 2009 at Foufounes Électriques in Montreal, Quebec, Canada can be viewed below (courtesy of "RevengeAttack").

Photos of PRIMAL FEAR's September 12 , 2009 concert at Blender Theater in New York City are available at this location (courtesy of Tom Couture).

Pamela Moore's latest CD, "Stories from a Blue Room", was helmed by Grammy Award-winning producer Neil Kernon and features 11 songs that were co-written by Benjamin Anderson (ex-RORSCHACH TEST). The recording and mixing took place at Sonic Ranch Studios and Robert Lang Studios with Jason Kowalski (N17, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS) on drums, Jeff Loomis (NEVERMORE) on guitar, Michael Wilton (QUEENSRŸCHE, SOULBENDER) and Anderson, Brian Gordon (ION VEIN) on bass and even some backing vocals provided by Terri Nunn (BERLIN).

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)", the new album from PRIMAL FEAR, was released in Europe on May 22 and was made available in the U.S. in early June via Frontiers Records.

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)" was recorded at House Of Music studios in Winterbach, Germany with Dennis Ward and Achim Köhler. The CD marks the group's first release with Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN/LANDE, STARBREAKER), who replaced Stefan Leibing last year. Returning guitarist Henny Wolter and Karlsson participated in the songwriting and pre-production, which took place at Karlsson's Stuntguitar Studio in Sweden. The band spent four weeks at House Of Music recording the effort, which was mastered by Ted Jensen at the Sterling Sound in New York City.

Several audio samples from "16.6: (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)" are available for download at Frontiers.it.

MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Interviewed On Australia's 'The Racket'; Audio Available - Sep. 15, 2009
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was interviewed last week by his metal "brother" Andrew Haug of Triple J's "The Racket" (based in Australia). Listen to the program in streaming audio at the Triple J web site: Windows Media, Real Media (NOTE: The first part of the Mustaine interview begins around the 43-minute mark). Check out the program's entire playlist at this location.

MEGADETH and SLAYER will team up for the Canadian Carnage East five-date tour in November. The trek kicks off on November 8 in Moncton, NB and wraps up in Toronto on November 13. The tour will feature MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE, and will see MEGADETH and SLAYER alternating the closing spot. Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

MEGADETH and SLAYER laid waste to four Canadian cities earlier in June when they joined up for the first Canadian Carnage, marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years.

MEGADETH's new album, "Endgame", was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

"Endgame" was helmed by Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).

ROBERT TRUJILLO Confirms METALLICA Is Working On 'Big Four' Tour - Sep. 15, 2009
Chris Varias of Metromix conducted an interview earlier this week with METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo. The question-and-answer session follows below.

Metromix: There's a rumor going around now about the four classic thrash bands (METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX) touring together. How would you feel about being part of that?

Trujillo: I think it's great. We've had a few different conversations on the subject. I'm friends with (SLAYER's) Kerry King and had dinner with him a few months back, and it came up there. I think (MEGADETH's) Dave Mustaine is amazing. I've never had a problem with him personally. I think it'd be great if METALLICA shared the stage with his band. METALLICA's still great friends with (ANTHRAX's) Scott Ian. There's a lot of history there. I think it'd be great for metal. I don't think all four bands have played together at the same time.

Metromix: So there's truth to the rumor?

Trujillo: There is, but nothing's concrete. It's not a sealed deal. We're working on it.

Metromix: How would egos come into play in terms of the order of bands on the bill?

Trujillo: Oh, there'd be a lot of egos. I think we'd be OK. It'd be an issue with the other three bands.

Metromix: How so? Would Dave Mustaine have an issue opening for METALLICA?

Trujillo: I don't think that would be an issue. I think it would be more an issue between MEGADETH and SLAYER.

Metromix: What's the story there?

Trujillo: I don't know if it would depend on the city, but I'm sure between those two bands, they would want to be up on the bill. I don't know. Who knows? My prediction is that maybe there would be something there. The only way we would do it is if we're headlining, and we would probably be the ones to put it together. I'm not saying that in a disrespectful way. All of these bands are amazing and super-cool.

Metromix: You played with Ozzy. Maybe you could get Sharon Osbourne to put the tour together.

Trujillo: Oh man, yeah. Let's see. She's a phone call away. Maybe I can get Ozzy to manage the situation. He'd sort them all out.

Metromix: When is METALLICA recording its next album?

Trujillo: I don't know — maybe next week, maybe tomorrow. Who knows? I'll talk to the guys today and see if they're up for it. Actually there's gonna be about another year of touring, so that's a hard one to say. There are a lot of ideas floating around. We always have recording gear on tour with us so we're always recording our ideas, but obviously the songs have not been written.

Metromix: Do you expect the new record to be a continuation of the "Death Magnetic" sound?

Trujillo: Going back to "Death Magnetic", it was great because (producer) Rick Rubin helped kind of bring Lars and (singer-guitarist) James (Hetfield) back into that sort of thrashy element. I think it will have a thrash factor. Keep it heavy. Keep it grooving. Keep it thrashy.

SKID ROW Guitarist Talks Next Album, Early Influences, Touring With PANTERA - Sep. 15, 2009
Cameron Edney of Pro Music Photography recently conducted an interview with SKID ROW guitarist Scotti Hill. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Pro Music Photography: Scotti, last time we spoke, "Revolutions per Minute" was just about to be released, now that you have had so much time to digest it, is there anything you would have changed?

Scotti Hill: I wouldn't have drunk as much while I was making it. [laughs] Part of that record was played on severe hangover. Sometimes it works; sometimes you shoot yourself in the foot! I haven't even listened back; it's been a couple of years now! Usually when we finish recording something I listen to it when it's done and for me I just put it away and then on to the next thing!

Pro Music Photography: Considering it's been almost three years now, I would imagine you are writing new material and would have the wheels in motion for the next album?

Scotti Hill: Yeah, we haven't sat down and recorded anything yet, but we have sat down and worked out some ideas and just played them on a handheld recorder. Everybody's writing and we're getting into that mind set but we're very slow, we're very lazy. Once the wheels get in motion we'll all probably fly out to Atlanta spend a week or two up there come home, go back up there do it again, we're all living in different cities, which can make it difficult at times.

Pro Music Photography: Mate I want to talk to you a little more about life on the road… going right back to the beginning can you remember the hardest time you had as an opening act?

Scotti Hill: Oh man, there were a couple of them! I remember back when we were opening for WHITE LION… eventually both bands wound up coming acquaintances and friendly but we got bumped around a little bit. Any band that gets an opening slot, especially on the bigger tours, the production people don't give a shit about how many records you've sold, they just care about getting their show onstage and on time. They like to kick around the support act, and we've been kicked around a bunch of times! It makes us stronger; it really makes us a better band. If some bands production crew is giving us a hard time, then we're just going to have to get out there and kick that bands ass! I'm a little cocky about it but I'm proud of it, it's like being in a gang!

Pro Music Photography: There's no doubt that over the years some crazy shit has happened whilst you've been on tour, the late '80s bottle incident comes to mind! What's the craziest thing that has ever happened to you on stage?

Scotti Hill: Oh dude, I've gotten into fights, I've wound up outside the building. I've thrown up onstage more than once probably, more times than I can count I think [laughs]. You go night after night and you're hitting the alcohol a little too hard sooner or later it's bound to come back to bite you and it's usually when you're up there under the hot lights! During the show all kinds of shit happens; we have little conversations and little things going on during the show that people aren't even aware of! During songs we will have a little huddle off to the side and have a giggle about something that happened or that is happening!

Pro Music Photography: Over the years you have shared the stage with many amazing bands like KISS, BON JOVI, MÖTLEY CRÜE and, of course, PANTERA, what fond memories do you have of all the craziness that was going on backstage with the PANTERA crew and jamming with Dimebag?

Scotti Hill: Looking back on it, it was amazing! We were all pretty young and I remember how beat up and just run down I felt back then being a young guy. Both bands were hitting it really hard and touring really hard. Both bands developed a really good friendship; we hung out a lot, we spent six month out on that tour together and it was really a test of what you could put your body through... And Dimebag… I could go on with stories all night but the bottom line is that he was just a really cool guy, an amazing guitar player and getting to watch him onstage and play every night before we'd play was the ultimate fire under your ass! You knew you had to go out and hit it with everything you've got or you weren't going to come close!

Pro Music Photography: I know from an early age bands such as KISS and the RAMONES played a large influence on you all, but was music always your goal growing up or did you think you would follow a different path?....

Scotti Hill: No, no, I started playing guitar when I was 13 and that's pretty much where I set my sights! One way or another I just wanted to have a guitar in my hand, weather it was playing covers down at the bar and grill or if it was coming to Australia to see you guys! I didn't want to answer to anybody and I didn't want to sit in one spot. I don't like that, man I just knew!.

Pro Music Photography: Growing up what did your parents think about the music you played?

Scotti Hill: My parents were very supportive, I didn't do very well at school and I think it was due to a lack of interest. I was into doing artsy stuff, painting, drawing and playing music. My parents helped me anyway they could, they made sure I had a guitar to play, made sure I had gas in my car to get me from here and there, they just saw something that I liked and like any good parent would do, they supported it!

GODSMACK's 'Hangover' Is A Hit - Sep. 15, 2009
GODSMACK capped its acclaimed tour with MÖTLEY CRÜE in style this past week, scoring fifth No. 1 single at Active Rock, notching the coveted top spot at Active Rock and the Mediabase format with the band's first single in nearly three years, "Whiskey Hangover". The song was released sans-album, a special gift to fans in celebration of the band's acclaimed live slot on this one of this summer's hottest rock tours. The tour finally wound down on September 5 in Darien Lake, New York, with critics like 411Mania.com hailing both the tour and "Whiskey Hangover" as vintage GODSMACK: "'Hangover' is a welcome return to the band's well-established sound. Powerful…"

The new song arrived in mid-June as the first "sanctioned" GODSMACK offering since the band's widely acclaimed greatest-hits package, "Good Times Bad Times….Ten Years of Godsmack", was delivered to fans at the end of 2007. "Whiskey Hangover" reigns as a record-breaking 17th Top 10 single for the Boston band, extending GODSMACK's ownership of the most Top 10 hits in active rock history.

The next GODSMACK album will be the band's first collection of all-new material since 2006's "IV".

After GODSMACK released "Good Times, Bad Times - Ten Years of Godsmack", the band announced that it was going on hiatus. Singer Sully Erna worked on his solo album during this period, while the other three members of the group started a side project called ANOTHER ANIMAL.

MARILYN MANSON's Winnipeg Concert Afermath: More Details Revealed - Sep. 15, 2009
Chris Kitching of the Winnipeg Sun reports that three police officers were assaulted and five people were arrested during the rowdy aftermath of a MARILYN MANSON concert in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Sunday night (September 13), a city police spokesman says.

The officers suffered minor injuries, said Winnipeg police Const. Blair Good.

Good said the mayhem unfolded as hundreds of people spilled out of MTS Centre after the concert about 10:45 p.m.

Alcohol influenced the rowdy concertgoers' actions, police said.

Good said police tried to stop a few people from wandering through traffic — for their own safety — in front of the Portage Avenue arena but the group reacted angrily and began punching and kicking the officers.

LEAVES' EYES' LIV KRISTINE: The Voice Of The North On Sporty Paths - Sep. 15, 2009
Since her first appearance in the music business, Norwegian singer Liv Kristine — who has been living in Germany for 10 years now — has been one of the most versatile and extraordinary artists in Europe, leaving her mark in numerous genres.

Liv carved her name into gothic metal history with her bands LEAVES' EYES and THEATRE OF TRAGEDY and conquered the pop scene as a solo artist with her beautiful voice. Just recently, LEAVES' EYES' latest album, "Njord", entered the German chart at position No. 30 and "We Came With The Northern Winds" DVD landed at No. 11 on the German music DVD chart.

Besides music and her love for nature, Liv Kristine has yet another passion: sport!

Says Kristine: "Sport has always played an important role besides music. I was born and grew up in the beautiful nature on the west coast of Norway, and the mountains and fjords gave me all the opportunities to live out my excitement about this place.

"As a young girl, I was always a member in local teams and clubs — be it swimming, hockey, high jump, cross-country skiing, downhill, classical ballet or any kind of ball game."

Nowadays Liv is an active participant when it comes to half marathons and mountain running. "I discovered my passion for running when I participated in a half marathon after years of daily running through the woods," she says. "As I reached the finish line at 1:52, a lot of people congratulated me on my achievement, but I knew that I had a lot more in me. I threw away my worn-out running shoes and bought my first pair of 'long-distance-running' shoes. Today, I have an extended sport collection and I am always on the lookout for the ideal running clothes.

"Besides being a mother (in particular after my pregnancy) and my profession as a singer, I take a lot of time for building up my stamina and doing weight training.

"Sport is a big part of my life. I also do kickboxing and self-defense — not only does it help me for competitions, but also strengthens my self-confidence in daily life. I can recharge my energy with power yoga and Pilates, and I also make sure that I hit the sauna very often. I have been a confident vegetarian for numerous years now and have a diverse and fresh nutrition. Furthermore, I cook and bake for the band, family and friends."

Liv Kristine takes her athletic activities very seriously. Just like with her music, she always wants to reach the highest level possible. "I hired a personal trainer for the weight training, who makes my muscles ache on a weekly basis," she says. "In addition, nature inspires me to continue with my training. Even when I am on tour, running is a part of everyday life. It's a great thing, because the running helps me to stay in shape for the stage and to distract me from everything that's going on around me on tour.

"On our long American tours, I took every opportunity when it came to running, sport or fitness. The most special season to me is autumn, as it inspires me the most to go running. From the end of August until November, I try to partake in as many running competitions as possible. At the local running events, I start for the Team Toyota Ludwigsburg, as I am an ardent Toyota driver and prefer to have a strong engine working for me. I still wait for the opportunity to drive a rally car!

"When it comes to running events in Austria, I start for the NPR team (that's the team of my record label Napalm Records) — my first mountain running competition took place this year in Eisenerz." (Video footage of the event can be viewed below.)

Liv made it to a respectable position 10 in her class at the running event in Eisenerz, which is Austria's biggest mountain-running event. Her time was 1:27. "I really didn't expect that!" she says. "The training paid off! And I am happy every day when I can do my body something good. By training hard, I can keep body and soul in a fine balance and use this positive energy for my family, my band, my music and my friends."

AEROSMITH Guitarist Schedules Plymouth Date - Sep. 15, 2009
AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry and his touring band, THE JOE PERRY PROJECT, will perform at the Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts this Sunday, September 20. Opening act is former DROPKICK MURPHYS co-founder Rick Barton with his new band CONTINENTAL, featuring his son Stephen.

Tickets are general admission and are $20. Doors are at 7 p.m.

For more information, visit www.memorialhall.com.

As previously reported, Perry has set October 6 as the release date for his latest solo effort, "Have Guitar, Will Travel". THE JOE PERRY PROJECT will play at the Viper Room in Hollywood, California on that date, with more shows to be announced soon. Perry told The Pulse of Radio what he wanted to accomplish with the record. "It's all done live in the studio, and we just, we really made an effort to give it some of the texture and the feel of the records that we grew up with — those records, like, from the late '60s," he said. "There was so much feel to them, and so much heart and texture, that's what we went into the recording with — that attitude."

The first single from "Have Guitar, Will Travel" is "We've Got A Long Way To Go".

Vocals on the disc are handled by Perry and an unknown German singer named Hagen, who was found on YouTube by Perry's wife Billie.

Perry's last solo album, a self-titled effort, came out in 2005. His three previous solo outings, all under the JOE PERRY PROJECT banner, came out during the first half of the Eighties while he was out of AEROSMITH for a few years.

AEROSMITH was forced to cancel its summer tour after a string of bad luck that concluded with singer Steven Tyler falling off a stage in Sturgis, South Dakota, injuring his head, neck and collarbone. Guitarist Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton also missed time due to medical issues.

Who Is The Most Romantic Member Of METALLICA? - Sep. 15, 2009
Jim Breuer, comedian, Sirius XM host and diehard METALLICA fan, sat down for a rare and hilarious interview with all the members of the legendary metal band for his weekly show on Sirius XM's Raw Dog comedy channel. The hour-long interview, taped before the band's performance at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on February 1, 2009, delved into rare subject matter and humorous hypotheticals, including which band member each would call to help hide a body and what government agencies they would assign to one another if METALLICA were its own country. The special also included a quiz portion where each member is quizzed on prices of common household products to determine how out of touch, if at all, they are from everyday life.

The third webisode featuring highlights from the interview contains the question: "What do you have planned (if anything) for Valentine's Day?"

***Note: Even though the above-mentioned interview was conducted back in February, and the audio version originally aired the same month, the video footage of this particular portion of the chat was not uploaded until this week.***

"Fridays with Breuer" is an intimate show hosted by Jim Breuer, one of the county's most outrageous and beloved comedians. Breuer invites millions of Sirius XM listeners each week into his life and brain, sharing hilarious anecdotes about his adventures as a family man, doing impressions of his favorite performers, riffing on his colorful experiences from performing around the country, and discussing his beloved New York Mets, his favorite rock legends and more.

Although Zombie is also busy these days directing movies, he told The Pulse of Radio he can always count on his current bandmates to return. "Whenever I'm making a movie they go off and do whatever they want, but they're all part of this band," he said. "We just did all of our photos for the tour and stuff. It's the same band, it's just that I know those guys get itchy to play."

The trek will include a very special Halloween event on October 31 in Hollywood, California hosted by Uncle Seymour Coffins, also seen in "Halloween II".

The "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" tour will mark Zombie's return to the road after moderate box office success as the writer and director of "Halloween II" (Dimension). His R-rated, animated feature, "The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto", will be available everywhere on DVD and Blu-ray September 22.

Zombie will return to the stage on October 18, when he co-headlines Loud Park festival in Japan with SLAYER that will also feature PAPA ROACH.

"Halloween II", the follow-up to Zombie's successful 2007 remake of the original 1978 horror classic, came in at No. 3 in its opening weekend, earning $17 million at the box office. That's far less than the $31 million his first "Halloween" flick did two years ago.

Zombie's next film will be a remake of "The Blob", which he is slated to begin shooting in the spring of 2010.

OPETH Frontman To Record Acoustic Solo Album - Sep. 15, 2009
Guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH has revealed to Holland's FaceCulture that he is contemplating recording a singer-songwriter acoustic solo album.

"My views [regarding songwriting] have broadened a little bit," Mikael said. "I guess when I discovered Nick Drake, that's when I really got into that whole simplistic type of music that really needs something strong — strong material in order to make it come across with so little."

He continued, "I've always been wanting to do a thing like that. I've got a bunch of lovely acoustic guitars back I wanna use more. Even though OPETH could probably do an album like that, I wanna do it on my own, and in that sense, I wanna record it on my own — in my house, basically. I think I can do it well. I think I can do a good album like that.

"I'd like to maybe simplify it even more [than the OPETH acoustic stuff], and have it just chords playing, and maybe some finger-picking stuff, so I could be able to perform it if I would wanna do that. So I don't want it to be lots of tracks, like overdubbing guitars with lots of melodies; I want it to be fairly simplistic so if I wanted to, I could play it live on my own... on a stool. [laughs]"

For now, the plans only exist in Åkerfeldt's head. No songs have been written or recorded yet, but Mikael is certain the singer/songwriter solo album will see the light of day. "I'm getting ready to write because every time I sit down and play, I come up with something that I like," he said.

NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury, who plays guitar in BRUJERIA under the name Hongo, is selling his seven-string ESP guitar that has been used on stage and to record some of the most memorable BRUJERIA riffs.

A description of the guitar reads as follows: "After countless live shows with BRUJERIA, guitarist Hongo is letting go of his beloved seven-string ESP Viper 407. This guitar has accompanied him and the band all over the world and cranked out such classics like 'Matando Gueros', 'Division Del Norte', 'March De Odio' and 'Brujerizmo', to name a few. A new album is in the works and this baby laid down all of the guitar tracks for that forthcoming monster. This guitar has a great tone and sound and can be heard and seen on many a YouTube clip. The guitar is in tip-top condition and comes with a free guitar case as well."

CHILDREN OF BODOM will return to North America this fall to headline a massive, month-long tour. The 20-city trek will launch on Friday, September 18 at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island and will run through October 14 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Support will come from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and SKELETONWITCH.

NECRONOMICON Preparing To Announce Label Home - Sep. 15, 2009
Quebec's black/death metal trio NECRONOMICON has issued the following update:

"NECRONOMICON will announce in a matter of days which with label the [band's new album] 'Return Of The Witch' will be released. After three months of talking and negotiation with different labels, the band agreed with a very well-established and professional label just today. Also, 'The Return Of The Witch' album cover will finally be revealed.

"The album is a perfect image of the message brought by the band with this album about the feminine power hidden inside everyone and in connection with the moon and the earth."

"The Time is Now", the new video from NECRONOMICON, can be viewed below. The clip was shot last year with Benoit Nantel (GHOULUNATICS, URBAN ALIEN, LES ECORCHES) who "did his best to capture the band's atmosphere and power." NECRONOMICON is said to be "really satisfied" with the end result and plans to work with Nantel again in the near future.

"The Time is Now" comes off "Return of the Witch", which was mastered with reputed engineer Maor Appelbaum (HALFORD, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, THERION, etc).

Tracks from the upcoming CD are now available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

"Return of the Witch" features guest appearances by Arianne Fleury (ex-AUGURY) and Roxanne Constantin (NEGATIVA, QUO VADIS), among others.

The band previously stated that the follow-up to 2003's "The Sacred Medicines" would "probably be the fastest and most brutal" CD the group has released thus far.

Other songtitles set to appear on the album include "Into the Fire", "Alpha Omega", "The Awakening", and "Return of the Witch".

IN FLAMES: New Video Interview With BJÖRN GELOTTE Available - Sep. 15, 2009
HardTimes.ca conducted an interview with guitarist Björn Gelotte of Swedish metallers IN FLAMES prior to the band's September 8, 2009 concert in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Watch the 18-minute chat below.

In a recent interview with Live-Metal.net, IN FLAMES bassist Peter Iwers was asked about guitarist Jesper Strömblad's current status after he checked himself into rehab earlier in the year. "His status is that he's still working on getting himself 100 percent — getting well and coming back as soon as he feels he's ready," Peter replied. "Now it's not gonna change. We are five members of IN FLAMES and it's not gonna change, like some people are speculating. Jesper is very much in the band, but he needs to be ready. It's up to him when he's ready to come back and is strong enough to stay on the road. He really needs to do deal with his problems, and we are there for him as much as we can, trying to support him in the best way that we can, not rushing him and showing him that his position is here when he's ready to come back.

"It has been a problem for many, many years. At the beginning of this year, he delayed this decision, but his latest decision was to check himself in and get well once and for all. And with a few minor mishaps, he's been sticking to it.

"It's a disease and a lot of people don't know. And we all had to learn, obviously. Alcoholism is a disease — you can't help it. A lot of people might say [that alcoholics are] selfish and mean, and might take what an alcoholic can do to you very personal, but remember it's a disease. It takes some time to get well. And he's one of my best friends and I'm trying to give him all the support that he needs."

When asked if the band had to take part in an intervention in order to get Jesper into rehab, Iwers said, "No, because we didn't really know how bad it was. And when you're an alcoholic, it's a hard life, obviously, but I guess somehow you know about it. We didn't know how bad it was. He actually told us about it. That was his own decision. We are sticking by him. But we are still touring because we want to be out there and play and perform the commitments that we booked this entire year. We will want to fulfill them. We can't just keep on canceling. We got together with Jesper [and determined] to keep on touring without him until he's ready to come back."

BUCKCHERRY Working On 'Secret' Project - Sep. 15, 2009
BUCKCHERRY guitarist Keith Nelson has told Gary Graff of Billboard.com that the band's fans can expect to hear some fresh music from the group soon. "You will most likely hear something new from us next year," Nelson said. "I don't know if we have a timetable as much as we have a bunch of ideas that we're kicking around. We're very excited about writing new material." Singer Josh Todd added that the band is already "working on a project we're kind of keeping secretive right now. It's definitely going to be a departure from what we do. It's definitely coming out great. Hopefully by next year someone'll get to hear it." Neither Todd nor Nelson would elaborate except to say it's a musical endeavor and involves the band only, with no guests. "You're gonna have to be patient on this," Nelson said.

BUCKCHERRY's "Live & Loud", which is due out September 29, was culled from six shows recorded earlier this year and marks the band's first official concert album. "This is the first time we've had an opportunity to do it the way we wanted to do it," Nelson said. Todd added that, "There's imperfections, there's extended songs...We wanted to capture what this band was about live. It's a cool experience." Nelson added that, "This was the first."

NILE: New Album Track Listing, Artwork Unveiled - Sep. 15, 2009
The reigning kings of technical, historically-themed brutality NILE have revealed the track listing and artwork for their latest state-of-the-death-metal-art release, "Those Whom the Gods Detest". Produced and mixed by Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, QUEENSRŸCHE), along with a stellar drum-production job by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE), the CD features the band's strongest production and perhaps its best material to date! The cover artwork was created by Michal "Xaay" Loranc, whom NILE guitarist/vocalist Karl Sanders had previously worked with on his second solo album, "Saurian Exorcisms".

"Those Whom the Gods Detest" track listing:

01. Kafir!
02. Hittite Dung Incantation
03. Utterances of the Crawling Dead

07. Yezd Desert Ghul Ritual in the Abandoned Towers of Silence
08. Kem Khefa Kheshef

10. Iskander D'hul Karnon

Sanders told Revolver magazine earlier in the year that the band's sixth full-length album will likely be NILE's most eclectic offering to date. "We're going to some very unexpected places," he said. "I've been listening to some oud music [the oud is a Middle Eastern lute — Ed.], Iranian music, and some Hindu stuff, and that stuff's definitely rubbing off on the new songs."

"Those Whom the Gods Detest" is scheduled for a November 3 North American release via Nuclear Blast Records.

NILE's fifth studio album, "Ithyphallic", came out on July 17, 2007 via Nuclear Blast. Engineered by Bob Moore and produced by Neil Kernon, the CD was recorded at Sound Lab Studios in Columbia, South Carolina.

Former KORN Guitarist Sets Record Straight Regarding Claim He Asked To Rejoin Band - Sep. 15, 2009
Former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has issued the following statement:

"I recently learned of an interview [see video below] that Munky [KORN guitarist James Shaffer] gave where he said that I came to KORN and asked to be taken back in the band. That's definitely not a complete and accurate picture.

"The full truth is that for about a year, ever since Jonathan [Davis; KORN frontman] publicly said he wanted me back in KORN, KORN's managers have been requesting my manager to work on getting me back into KORN. The calls were initiated by KORN's managers, not my manager.

"I shut the door on their requests many, many times over the last several months, through my manager. However, Fieldy [KORN bassist Reginald Arvizu] personally called me during KORN's last tour in Europe and we talked as friends for a long time. He also told me if I ever wanted to rejoin KORN, or open for KORN as a solo artist, the door was always open.

"Since Fieldy is sober now and a Christian like me, I thought it may be a good idea to visit with Fieldy, a friend of mine, to see what he was up to and what it was all about.

"I had a great time reconnecting with Fieldy. I mainly went to his house to connect with an old friend. The KORN stuff we talked about was secondary, but it was discussed. Fieldy thought that Jonathan, Munky, and I should all meet AS FRIENDS; reconnect; and maybe discuss the possibilities. Both Jonathan and Munky refused that meeting.

"I learned a lot visiting with Fieldy. I learned that I love and miss my friends, but the visit confirmed to me that I have a different calling in life than to reconnect musically/professionally.

"As far as Munky's comment that 'everything has been divided already,' that is also not accurate. In fact, from January 2005 when I left, and for the next four years, KORN failed to pay to me royalties that were due to me on records that I did with them. However, I don't believe this was done intentionally.

"We are trying to be patient and work with their management to get the financial issues resolved so that 'everything can be divided as we agreed long ago in our contracts.' I am optimistic that we can resolve it as friends.

"I continue to wish nothing but the best for KORN, and that includes all of my friends there — Fieldy, Jonathan and Munky."

Altitude TV's interview with Munky, during which he made the above-mentioned remarks, was conducted this past Saturday (September 12) at the Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) in Hollywood, California.

When asked about KORN's current relationship with former members Welch and David Silveria (drums), Munky said, "It's kind of a strange thing. Brian actually contacted us recently and wanted to come back to the band. And it was not the right time... for us.

"It's kind of like if you divorced your wife and she went on and she stayed successful and her career flourished, and you go back and [say], 'My gosh, she's still hot.' 'Baby, can we get back together?' 'Wait a minute... All the stuff's been divided, and it's like...'

"I don't see it happening right now. It's not gonna happen right now."

He continued, "As far as David goes, I heard he sold every single drum he owns... or he gave it away. He doesn't even own a drum stick. I mean, it blows me away... Wow, one of the best drummers I've ever played with and I think a lot of people have ever heard. Just to go... 180 [degrees]... go the opposite direction.

"The music business can be dirty and some people can endure it and some people just don't want anything to do with it once something bad has happened to them."

Welch abruptly quit KORN in early 2005 and announced that he had been saved by Jesus Christ. His announcement in front of 10,000 people in Bakersfield, California set off a media frenzy, as people from around the world sought to understand what led this rock star into the light.

In a May 2009 interview with Noisecreep, Welch said that he was fully happy with his decision to leave the band and has not considered a return to the group that made him famous. "If I ever felt God lead me back to KORN for some reason, I'd go," he said.

ECHOES OF ETERNITY: Another New Song Posted Online - Sep. 15, 2009
Los Angeles female-fronted progressive metallers ECHOES OF ETERNITY are streaming a new song, "Memories Of Blood And Gold", on their MySpace page.

Commented guitarist/songwriter Brandon S. Patton: "I saw a [History Channel] documentary on the impact gold has had on humanity over the course of history. I came up with the title of the song but Francine [Boucher, vocalist] wrote the lyrics. It's based loosely on the trampling of Mexico and South America by the Spaniards in their pursuit of gold 400 years ago. I [wrote] the main riffs shortly after the EDGUY tour ended in late 2007. I was inspired by Jon Schaffer's playing in ICED EARTH and wanted to write some riffs that would seemingly fit in on one of their albums. My favorite part of the song is the riff immediately following the guitar solo — it's just so heavy, thrashy and powerful. Makes me want to headbang every time I hear it. Also, at the beginning of the second verse, Francine does this really cool vocal melody over the main riff of the song."

"Memories Of Blood And Gold" comes off ECHOES OF ETERNITY's forthcoming second album, "As Shadows Burn", which is scheduled for release in North America on September 22 via Nuclear Blast Records (the LP will be issued in Europe on September 25 through Massacre). The follow-up to 2007's "The Forgotten Goddess" was produced and mixed by former MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader, who has previously worked with GOJIRA, DIVINE HERESY, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

"As Shadows Burn" track listing:

01. Ten Of Swords
02. A Veiled Horizon
03. Memories Of Blood And Gold
04. The Scarlet Embrace
05. Descent Of A Blackened Soul
06. Twilight Fires
07. Buried Beneath A Thousand Dreams
08. Letalis Deus
09. Funeral In The Sky

A three-and-a-half minute video teaser for "As Shadows Burn" can be viewed below.

ECHOES OF ETERNITY recently announced the addition of rhythm guitarist Bryan Eagle to the group's ranks. Eagle has been playing with the band since September 2008 and has contributed music and laid down guitar tracks on ECHOES OF ETERNITY's new album.

ECHOES OF ETERNITY is:

Francine Boucher - Vocals
Brandon S. Patton - Guitar
Bryan Eagle - Guitar
Duane Cowan - Bass
Kirk Carrison - Drums

THE DESTRO: New Song Available For Streaming - Sep. 15, 2009
"Justifiers Of Malice", a new song from Texas' THE DESTRO, is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's sophomore album, "Harmony Of Discord", which is scheduled for release on October 13 via Ironclad Recordings. According to a press release, the band "possess the aggression and directness or hardcore but it's not metalcore; they have the thick sludge toned riffage and big bottom groove of metal while tossing off any flashy leads or instrumental obliqueness that have dominated that genre of late."

"On writing this new album we threw away multiple riffs going on in songs, we cut out any soloing and it's twice as heavy as our other material and totally focused," says guitarist Nick Emde. "As a guitarist. I'm influenced by NAPALM DEATH as they are completely fast, completely brutal with no filler but it leaves you satisfied."

Regarding the new material, Emde states, "In between albums, we just had a lot of trying experiences including deaths of family members, deterioration of personal relationships and general homelessness. Those negative emotions and experiences went straight to our writing to the point where I can honestly say playing these new songs completely release all those feelings for me."

"Harmony Of Discord" track listing:

01. Justifiers Of Malice
02. Thorns Of Truth
03. Pestilence Of Deceit
04. Angel Killer
05. Mouth Of The Heretic
06. Persistence Of Ignorance
07. Dead Eyes Divide
08. Overcome (The Flame)
09. Face Down In Regret

Signed by Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH to his Ironclad Recordings, the band released its debut, "As The Coil Unwinds", in 2007. The album received praise from the metal elite, including national publications such as Outburn, who said "The band harkens back in time when renegades like METALLICA wrote grand masterpieces of metal compositions… pure metal sans the trends and flashy gimmickry."

THE DESTRO is taking part in a U.S. tour with ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS and IT DIES TODAY from September 10 through October 19.
