Wasn't Henry Rollins the only singer Black Flag ever had?

I foresee the music scene not being as entertaining under Obama as it was under Bush. But that's just me.

I like henry as a person, not afraid to say what's on his mind. We need more people like that. However this bush bashing shit is getting old. It'll be a cold day in hell before I go listen to somebody, just as uninformed as I am, lecture me on the state of the world and how it's supposedly one man's fault.

Black Flag is cool and shit with Henry but I hate when bands over do the political thing. I hate it at shows when bands just bitch about the election and how Bush is finally leaving its just not what I wanna hear. I want the band to play the songs and have fun with the crowd not bitch about what is on their mind.

Over the political thing and morons like this that use it for money. Real easy to be an armchair quarterback and judge things when you are not there.

Hope this idiot, and other idiots like Al Jourgenson, make no more money. Naturally, for you haters that want to fill my head with your propaganda ... this is MY opinion. I hope that people use research to form their own opinions as opposed to trusting anything you or I say.

Whether you agree with my opinions or not, it is truly a shame that politics enter music like this.

Man there really are a bunch of negative bitches on this site, henry rollins is nothing but a champ, and if you paid any attention you would realise that he isnt a bush basher, he acknowledges it alot, he, like everyone else, knows that bush aint got that much goin on upstairs and he aint the one behind all the shit thats goin on. Rollins goes to countries that the majority of arrogant american fuck ups wouldnt dream of going to. Pay attention to what he has to say, hes smarter than you could ever dream of being, who knows you might just learn something

I think Rollins is a smart guy and he has a lot of things to say. I've heard a lot of his spoken word shows, and when I saw him live in London a few years back he didn't even mention politics. Truth is he speaks of a lot of different things, not only politics/Bush, and most of the things are funny as hell. He's got a lot of great stories from the Black Flag era that he uses in these shows, hilarious stuff. I just wonder why every time you get somebody that can put together a couple of sentences that make sense everybody becomes so critical.

Something that actually most people around the world tend to belive.

To the guy who said Rollins is to blame for his friends death.

You are an ill informed bitch.
You would have let the killer butt fuck you first before allowing him to blow your brains out.

Let's see how tough you are? And what would you do in a similar scenario?
How about you hang around South Central with a some expensive jewellery on and see how you'll shit your pants where you stand when you are approached by 'black men' as you call them.

Now go and spend your deflated worthless $$$ that have been destroyed by the president that has spent more money than all the other presidents combined you commie.

I agree with him on U2. They suck. I hate Bonno's voice, the (Dull) Edge is an average guitar player at best. Their rhythm section is pretty tight, but then again so is AC/DC's...its the same beat for every song!

They are a band that happened at exactly the right time, and played in exactly the right places. I lump them in with Rod Stewart and Barry Manalow...how do people like this crap?

Sure U2 came out at the right time. Just like Star Wars, it could may have been a total failure if it had come out a few years later. Its not much more than the basic western movie concept, only based in space.

Both grabbed fans, who told their friends and children that U2 was a great band. If they had come out later, they may not have been a success. Of course it didn't hurt that they jumped on every political bandwagon that came along.

I like Hank, but he and the other "celebutantes" need to cool it with the rhetoric. Just because you have a public forum doesn't mean that your opinion is any more relevant than that of another.

Political opinions are literally like assholes...everyone has 'em, and you don't need to have an IQ > 20 to say what you think. Hank is a bit better than the rest (smart, articulate, funny) but until he formulates a plan to wipe out world hunger or stop climate change, I'll think for myself.

LEMMINGS UNITE!!!

He's a great storyteller, but kind of looney when it comes to politics (i.e. he's against the death penalty, but wants everyone on death row to die. Huh?)

Yeah though I agree with alot of his, too much of the diatribes get old after awhile, and we already have a closeted punk singer who did it way before (Jello Biafra). Actually didnt he just come out? Who gives a fuck anyway, I dont think Rollins is gay. Maybe hes just a-sexual or shy i dunno, maybe hes like a total dick in a relationship- who the hell knows- who cares, its his life and just cause hes walking on red carpets all the time with porn chicks doesnt mean hes gay, cmon.

Anyway, I think its cool that hes doing all this, primarily because half his stuff was wanna be Buckowski depressed woe as me self-absorbed bullshit for years and years, and now hes actually stepping outside himself and talking about other people than himself! lol. Well i do admit I loved Black Coffee Blues, etc, but my point is made..

Anyway, to me he saved Black Flag from becoming some has been punk band that had their day, without him they wouldn't have been able to explore the music they did, because he was open minded enough to kinda follow whatever the fuck GInn wanted to, Jazz fusion, experimental, metal, whatever, THAT to me is awesome, but unfortunately his shadow started to hover over Ginn's and thats when Ginn said "get the fuck outta the way" or in other words, "quit the band".

Also, what hardcore shouter or screamer (put that and Venom or Lemmy type vocals together and you have GROWLING in metal) isn't influenced by the man? His vocal cords were like fucking steel cables back in the day- I try yelling like that for one hour and I'm hoarse for a week!

this is a guy viewing his OPINION.
if you had your own show, I'm sure you would want to get your voice heard out there as well.

everyone with a strong opinion likes knowing that they have good ideas to be heard by anyone willing to listen. Henry's not there on his show telling you that noone elses opinion matters. if that was the case, I would agree with everyone that bashes on him. but as it is, he has an educated opinion which is more than most people can say for themselves.
