SCARS ON BROADWAY — the new band led by
SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist
Daron Malakian and drummer
John Dolmayan — has tapped
Joel Schumacher, a feature director whose credits include
"The Lost Boys",
"Batman Forever",
"Flatliners" and
"St. Elmo's Fire", to helm its video for the song
"World Long Gone". The shoot is taking place today (Tuesday, August 19) in Southern California.
Schumacher previously directed the
BUSH clip
"Letting The Cables Sleep" plus music video tie-ins for his
"Batman" movies, including
SEAL's
"A Kiss From A Rose".
SCARS ON BROADWAY sold just under 24,000 copies of its self-titled debut album in the United States during its first week of release to debut at position No. 17 on The Billboard 200 chart. This number represents roughly 36 percent of the 66,000 opening tally registered by
"Elect the Dead", the debut solo effort from
SYSTEM lead singer
Serj Tankian, which came out last fall through the
Warner Music Group.
Both
SCARS ON BROADWAY and
SYSTEM lead singer
Serj Tankian declined to release their latest projects through
Columbia Records, where
SYSTEM has been signed since 1998.
SYSTEM OF A DOWN has been on hiatus since 2006 while its members have pursued various personal projects.
