QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Heading To Desert For Next Album - Oct. 3, 2008
According to The Pulse of Radio, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman Josh Homme wants the band to schlep out to his studio in the California desert to record its sixth studio album. The singer and guitarist told NME.com, "We may move out there for a few months. That way, you build up anxiety and desperateness to record so that, when you do, it's like a fireball." Homme himself records frequently at his desert digs, recording a string of albums called the 'Desert Sessions' there with a revolving cast of guest artists and past and present QUEENS members.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's last album, "Era Vulgaris", came out in the spring of 2007.

The band is currently remastering its 1998 self-titled debut album for re-release this November.

I love these guys and Josh is a mastermind behind his projects. Cannot wait for the new album, and let's just hope the s/t reissue has got some extra material or bonus disc. Now all we need are reissues of the Desert Sessions' Volumes 1-10 (I sadly only have Vol. 7-10).
THE QUEENS ARE 4EVER!!!

Fuck I loved SFTD. Dave's performance on that album was just ace

Not sure if the bad mastering was intentional, but it doesnt matter too much, and no one seems to complain about it as much as Death Magnetics's mastering

This is great news. California's desert has always had a great influence on him, so I don't expect this to be an exception.

And I'm happy to know about the re-release of the self titled, it's the only one I still don't have (original, I mean).

Era Vulgaris almost destroyed all the respect QOTSA had managed to gather with their first 4 albums. Stop screwing around and give us a good sounding album, not punky shit like EV!

danhalen, ur the fucking one being laughed out... cut that crap talking about "percussion", like you'd know what you were talking about. I mean, there's no need to discuss this anymore: castillo is by far the worst drummer playing for queens, as bad as the latest two albums... The homme/grohl/oliveri lineup will always be the best line of guys ever playing together. Grohl in the band damn sucess, and those who don't realise that, I mean SFTD was the whole damn turning point for qotsa and their popularity.
Every decently musically gifted person on this person wouldn't even doubt that grohls apperance on the album and on the tour was f-ing essential and he is without any doubt one of the most gifted drummer I've ever heard.
Qotsas sucess through the early days can explained why: they didn't just have one frontman (like in these last couple of albums - only homme) but the attention was relied onto all three of them. It shouldn't be a one mans show , you know.
In comparison of grohl and castillo: listen for example on the intro of "a song for the dead" played live. you can easily hear the difference; grohl keeps it great great and in stabile while joey just hammers not thinking on the beat at all, and the whole song turns out getting way too fast. Grohl are and will always be the master.
I really do hope this new album will be like the old ones, not just wierd as EV and LTP, I almost hate those records. It should be played not to fancy, just solid and kick assing as the first album. Honestly, i really do like some of the newer songs like 3s n 7s and in my head and so on. But as I said, it's not what real qotsa fan should listen to.

All hail Oliveri and Grohl!!

Grohl was great on STFD. He made the song 'First It Giveth' based on the chorus drum riff. The current drummer is great on EV.

Oliveri is not in the best line up because he can't sing for shit. If he didn't sing, he'd be in there.

haha, bring it on Lionel Ritchie!
