SLAYER, TRIVIUM, MASTODON, AMON AMARTH: Cardiff Photos Posted Online - Nov. 3, 2008
Lucem Fero has uploaded photos of the November 2, 2008 "Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" concert at CIA in Cardiff, featuring SLAYER, TRIVIUM, MASTODON and AMON AMARTH. Check them out at this location.

A non-CD-quality version of SLAYER's new track "Psychopathy Red" — which is set to appear on the band's forthcoming album, due out summer 2009 — has surfaced on YouTube and can be streamed below. The Jeff Hanneman-penned song gives a chilling look into the twisted mind of Andrei Chikatilo, a notorious Russian serial killer.

The members of SLAYER spent a couple of weeks in a Southern California recording studio last month tracking three new songs, including "Psychopathy Red".

SLAYER kicked off the European "Unholy Alliance Tour: Chapter III" on October 27 at the Manchester Apollo in Manchester, England. The trek is scheduled to wrap in Helsinki, Finland on November 27. The band plans to return to the studio early next year to finish recording the new album.

Fans who attend any of the upcoming European "Unholy Alliance Tour: Chapter III" dates, will receive "Psychopathy Red" via an exclusive download card that will also include special material from the entire tour's lineup — SLAYER, MASTODON, TRIVIUM and AMON AMARTH. The download card, along with a limited edition "Unholy Alliance Tour" clothing patch, will be given away free only to ticket holders when they arrive at their local venue the night of the show.

"The Unholy Alliance Tour" first launched in fall 2004 with a European edition that featured SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, MASTODON and HATEBREED. The venture was so successful, the first North American trek, dubbed "The Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter II: Preaching to The Perverted", kicked off in summer 2006 with SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, CHILDREN OF BODOM, MASTODON, and THINE EYES BLEED stomping and screaming its way to 30 U.S. and Canadian cities. The European run of "Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter II" took place in fall 2006, featuring SLAYER, IN FLAMES, CHILDREN OF BODOM, LAMB OF GOD, and THINE EYES BLEED.

I love Trivium's new album its exponentially better than The Crusade. I was a huge fan of Ascendancy and I just couldn't swallow The Crusade no matter how hard I tried. But Shogun is fucking awesome.

How in the Hell does a band like TRIVIUM get on a tour like "The Unholy Alliance"? A real Unholy Alliance would be something like SLAYER, VENOM, DIMMU BORGIR, VADER & POSSESSED!!! That's just one idea, obviously there are several more bands that would also fit the Unholy Alliance!

Funny, this is probably the first time I've seen Kerry use one of his signature BC Rich V's without EMG pickups.

I know slayer needs new fans desperately, but they are really getting ridiculous taking out some of the lamest bands in existance, first Marilyn Manson, now freakin Trivium? they're the 'metal' equivalent to MyChemicalRomance, Amon Amarth? Snooze! Mastodon? meh. Even Craptallica has better bands touring with them this year.

It's a sign of the times I'm afraid, I hate Trivium as much as any other right thinking Slayer fan but they've got no new album out, Trivium have so if that means I get to see Slayer so be it.

I have never seen a bar area so busy whilst a band was on stage as at Hammersmith on the 31st when Trivium were playing.

Slayer fans voted with their feet.

Trivium = Kiddie Chav Metal

What I didn't get with this is show is how it said 7 o'clock start on the tickets but when we rocked in at 7:15 Amon Amarth had finished their whole set and we only caught the last 4 of Mastodon's songs. Fans get caught out time and time again and fucking miss bands they pay to see!

Trivium went down an absolute storm at this show and their new album rocks. It baffles me that people bash them for the hell of it because they are young and obscenely talented. Most people here haven't even listened to 'Ascendancy' or 'Shogun' and they are incredible metal albums. There were a small group of morons there trying to give them shit but they were drowned out in a second as soon as Trivium started playing and Heafy started taunting them. There is no denying that those guys can absolutely shred and that's the reason why even Kerry King was singing their praises!

Of course, Slayer absolutely ruled as always and it was good to see some older songs in there like Chemical Warfare and Ghosts of War. The look on Tom Araya's face as the brutal mosh pits kicked off was absolutely priceless. An awesome gig!

`I hate Trivium as much as any other right thinking Slayer fan´.

See my nickname? I LIKE Trivium, so that´s your opinion. I am a stalwart Slayer fan since the 80´s and I love ALL of their albums, so if you say I am NOT a right Slayer fan (see my nickname again), what can I say?

There were postings on a number of websites, including this one, saying that the doors would be opening at 5.30 and stage times moved forward.

I was at the show, and I fucking missed Amon Amarth cause of the tracks being repaired between Swansea and Port Talbot, had to wait for a pissing coach to take us up to Talbot then train to Cardiff... oh and then of course there were no coaches to take us back when we got into Talbot the following morning but thats another story....

Anyway, was a good gig, Slayer were their usual selves (kickass) and Mastodon were ok. Trivium did get a fair amount of bottlage, and those that fell short um... landed on their fans. lol. Yeah anyway, amon amarth sould have A: been second to Slayer and B: Should have a FULL headlining UK tour instead of being in a psuedo satanic quartet. Honestly Trivium, unholy? At least AA are heathens, and Mastodon are well, strange. trivium, well they're just... crap.

I have never been more embarrassed or disgusted by the conduct of a band in the live environment as I was with TRIVIUM on 30/10/08 at Hammersmith Apollo.

Myself and four fellow attendees were all in real anticipation of Trivium's set. They've had a lot of praise in the press and a lot of bashing from the metal community, but they say that there is no smoke without fire, and we were all ready to embrace this band. We really wanted to be converted, and understand what all the fuss was about.

There could be no denying the style and panache of the band's onstage execution. Grandiose and showmanlike, the presence of the band was impressive. It cannot be denied that they are a skillful band, both i ntechnique and performance.

What went wrong? Two words: MATT HEAFY

From the word go, the little bastard acted like an insecure little prick. I've seen bands berate an audience to provoke a reaction before, but NEVER all the way through a set. Between each song, there was nothing but constant whining, bile and insults coming from this CHILD on the stage.

The issue in hand was that not everyone was quite as into his band as he'd like them to be. There were small pockets of anti-fans in the audience but for the most part it was more than a standard multi-act crowd: A devoted and energetic following down the front, and, overlooked by Heafy, a large and interested audience going all the way to the back.

Did those few thousand people pay £35 to be constantly insulted, called pussies, sworn at until the tone had been completely lowered?

AMON AMARTH had 1/4 of Trivium's audience. They just grinned, headbanged, raised the horns and got on with it.
MASTODON had a fair crowd. They spoke barely a word, and let the music speak for them. It was awesome.
SLAYER were cordial and efficient, Tom Araya knows by now that he doesn't have to try to oversell his band.

So not everyone is prepared to go apeshit over an hour of rather standardized retro metal songs? It was disgraceful behaviour and very unprofessional. I actually felt sorry for the other guys on the stage; they're working hard while their so called frontman turns the majority of the casual audience against them.

Seriously guys, I know there are some pretty outspoken diehards on this forum but it was like an Axl Rose/Dave Mustaine tantrum. For Christ's sake, they are on their fourth album? And they seem to be obsessed with being treated as the greatest metal act since Pantera!

So, sorry Matthew Kiichi Heafy, but you aren't there yet, not in the minds of the metal majority.
I have bought 3/4 Trivium albums, and have tried to have faith.
We were there to be entertained and won over, but you just made yourself, your band and your fans look like WANKERS.

Yeah I missed that one! I did buy another ticket from the box office on the day they didn't care to mention it or amend times on the ticket.

And point taken about Matt Heafy. I really like Trivium but I think it's safe to say Heafy a complete douchebag, to the detriment of Trivium's reputation. I think I would be up myself though if I was only 23 and fronting a band supporting Slayer!
