CANNIBAL CORPSE: 'Evisceration Plague' Artwork Unveiled - Dec. 15, 2008
The cover artwork for "Evisceration Plague", the new album from Tampa, Florida-based death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE, can be viewed below.

Commented bassist Alex Webster, "For 'Evisceration Plague' we enlisted legendary gore/horror artist Vincent Locke, who has done artwork for all of our releases. He did two pieces for us this time, a dark and foreboding cover piece, and a violent and gory piece for the interior of the CD packaging. Vince has shown once again that he is a master of capturing a macabre and eerie vibe with his artwork."

"Evisceration Plague" is scheduled for release on February 3, 2009 via Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Kill" was produced by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL) at his Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Commented bassist Alex Webster: "In CANNIBAL CORPSE, our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album 'Kill', but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at that same level of heaviness and take it even further. Now that we can hear the finished product, I would say we've been able to achieve this goal, and I think our fans will agree. 'Evisceration Plague' has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded, and the entire band has never played with more precision and power. We can't wait until you all get a chance to hear the album in early 2009, because we think you'll be as happy with it as we are."

"Evisceration Plague" track listing:

01. Priests of Sodom
02. Scalding Hail
03. To Decompose
04. A Cauldron of Hate
05. Beheading and Burning
06. Evidence in the Furnace
07. Carnivorous Swarm
08. Evisceration Plague
09. Shatter Their Bones
10. Carrion Sculpted Entity
11. Unnatural
12. Skewered From Ear to Eye

"Evisceration Plague" will be available as a limited-edition digipack including a bonus track and bonus DVD, jewelcase CD and on limited splatter vinyl.

CANNIBAL CORPSE's seven-plus-hour DVD set "Centuries of Torment" (which came out July 8) sold 2,100 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 8 on the Top Music Videos chart.

In a recent interview with BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Webster stated about the set, "We're thankful for all the good reviews, but pretty much all the praise should go to [director/producer] Denise Korycki. She basically did everything. She shot the footage, she edited it, and she was the one who was in charge of organizing it and making it into a coherent story. That had to be a pretty difficult job for her because there is a lot of ground to cover. We did not know how dedicated she was going to be to this and how much work that she was going to put into it. She really made it her full time job for several months and we've never really had anything like that."

"He did two pieces for us this time, a dark and foreboding cover piece, and a violent and gory piece for the interior of the CD packaging"

... so dont you spatter-hungry types worry about a thing. I'm sure the inside cover will be more than up to scratch (pun)

anyway. Cover or no cover (CC could release an LP taking the piss out of Metallica, with a simple BLACK cover)... you can pretty much put your money on this being one of the heviest LP's of next year

cannot fucking wait

kinda funny how people think they are trying to be shocking or disturbing, but it just turns out they love horror/gore movies.

This artwork is fucking kickass. It doesn't need to be unnecessary splatter and gore, even though that's what their known for. Still the artwork will not reflect the cd, can't fucking wait.

COMMENT | Nice cover.

You're fuckin' retarded! Corpsegrinder is a far superior vocalist. He uses his voice like a percussive instrument, and adds a lot more to the music than all that low croaking nonsense Chris Barnes is famous for.

first of all, I don't think anyone wants to hear you bitch about how you hate George's vocals. Second, you say "...in the name of traditional old school death metal", well if you knew any facts about any of the guys in Cannibal Corpse you would know that Corpsegrinder started out in a band called Monstrosity, which is a death metal classic! So he is traditional death metal, and so are the rest of the guys in the band.

I cannot WAIT for the new album! I'm heading to the nearest carrier at midnight to get it!

you cant compare george fisher to chris barnes when they have two different styles. chris is good in six feet under, george is good in cannibal corpse.

Tamed down artwork to fill the store's bin, obviously. Still looks good, apart from the silly 'gory' fonts used for the title.

If they would get a different vocalist I'd still give this band a chance. I can't stand this guy's vocals.

How could people not like George's vocals? You can actually understand what he's saying and at no point does he ever sound like Chris...which is a GOOD thing. He has his own stule.

Good god...if you people want trash talk bands, just move over to lambgoat and hate everything.

George AND Barnes are brilliant

Monstrosity's work was some of the best of it's time

But I DO miss Barnes' attitude and good old "horror story" lyrical style in CC

The Barnes era CC goes down in history as far as I'm concerned, great LP's, great gigs. Still, With Webster on the fat strings, this next album is set to gut a whole load of the supposed death acts out there next year
