CANNIBAL CORPSE: New Album Samples Available - Dec. 16, 2008
Audio samples of all the tracks that appear on "Evisceration Plague", the forthcoming album from Tampa, Florida-based death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE, are available on Amazon.com.

"Evisceration Plague" is scheduled for release on February 3, 2009 via Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Kill" was produced by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL) at his Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Commented bassist Alex Webster: "In CANNIBAL CORPSE, our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album 'Kill', but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at that same level of heaviness and take it even further. Now that we can hear the finished product, I would say we've been able to achieve this goal, and I think our fans will agree. 'Evisceration Plague' has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded, and the entire band has never played with more precision and power. We can't wait until you all get a chance to hear the album in early 2009, because we think you'll be as happy with it as we are."

"Evisceration Plague" track listing:

01. Priests of Sodom
02. Scalding Hail
03. To Decompose
04. A Cauldron of Hate
05. Beheading and Burning
06. Evidence in the Furnace
07. Carnivorous Swarm
08. Evisceration Plague
09. Shatter Their Bones
10. Carrion Sculpted Entity
11. Unnatural
12. Skewered From Ear to Eye

"Evisceration Plague" will be available as a limited-edition digipack including a bonus track and bonus DVD, jewelcase CD and on limited splatter vinyl.

The "Evisceration Plague" artwork can be viewed below.

Commented Alex Webster, "For 'Evisceration Plague' we enlisted legendary gore/horror artist Vincent Locke, who has done artwork for all of our releases. He did two pieces for us this time, a dark and foreboding cover piece, and a violent and gory piece for the interior of the CD packaging. Vince has shown once again that he is a master of capturing a macabre and eerie vibe with his artwork."

CANNIBAL CORPSE's seven-plus-hour DVD set "Centuries of Torment" (which came out July 8) sold 2,100 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 8 on the Top Music Videos chart.

In a recent interview with BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Webster stated about the set, "We're thankful for all the good reviews, but pretty much all the praise should go to [director/producer] Denise Korycki. She basically did everything. She shot the footage, she edited it, and she was the one who was in charge of organizing it and making it into a coherent story. That had to be a pretty difficult job for her because there is a lot of ground to cover. We did not know how dedicated she was going to be to this and how much work that she was going to put into it. She really made it her full time job for several months and we've never really had anything like that."

Kill was a great album. I'm looking forward to this one.

Funny that Chris Barnes left the band, and CC continue to improve.

but this cover is almost as disappointing as KILL. Better, but not by much. Locke needs to return to his comic zombie-gore again.

Stop bitching about the cover art....Locke did another piece for the inside of the booklet, apparently a gory piece. Probably so the cover won't get censored. So all of you fuckheads that download should buy the cd so you can see the art.

Judging from the samples, i predict that "Shatter Their Bones" will be their sickest song in years. Looking forward to this album, CC always delivers.

i fully agree with you. that song really stuck out from the rest. that is one sick riff. i would like to see them play that in the studio like frantic disembowelment. i bet it would look just as technical and fast.

And I'm sure the inside artwork is going to be great!

Damn, I really hope they don't do that Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, that means their Setlist will be short!

Musically, the George Fisher era is better and more technically proficient and precise. the Barnes era is more sloppy and brutal but the songs are more memorable. Corpseginder has a more streamlined precision vocal approach while Barnes is more of a stoned-out deep growl sick approach. Both are great but I still prefer the Barnes era because the songs, although not as musically technical and tight, are more memorable. Monstrosity has never been the same since Corpsegrinder left the band msame goes for CC without Barnes
