ROBERT PLANT Once Again Rules Out LED ZEPPELIN Reunion - Dec. 21, 2008
According to Telegraph, LED ZEPPELIN frontman Robert Plant has ruled out the band getting back together for a concert tour. Plant, 60, said he has moved on to other things and was getting too old for two-hour rock shows in giant arenas across the world.

Plant was on stage yesterday being interviewed on BBC Radio Wales by actress Ruth Jones who plays Nessa in TV's "Gavin and Stacey".

Plant is expected to enter the studio in January with American bluegrass singer Alison Krauss to begin work on the follow-up to their award-winning "Raising Sand" LP.

He said: "I'm doing very well with Alison and I'm enjoying that.

"I still see Jimmy [Page, guitar] quite a lot and he's very complimentary and supportive of what I'm doing.

"But we are in different places now and you have to go on to do different things."

When Ruth asked him about a ZEPPELIN reunion, Plant said: "Do you know how long it took me to climb up onto the stage here — and it's only four steps!"

He could make $$$MILLIONS if he did it, but he is preserving the legend of Zeppelin instead.

Believe me, Led Zeppelin is 30+ years past their prime, and it would be SAD to see them performing now instead of remembering them in their prime.

SHAME on the other members if they try a "Zeppelin" reunion without Plant!!

Are you even old enough to have seen them in their prime? Plus, it isn't a Zeppelin reunion. They aren't calling it Led Zeppelin. 1/2 of Led Zeppelin won't be there, because Bonham is dead and because of Robert Plant not wanting to reunite with them. JPJ, Page, and Jason Bonham are basically doing what Black Sabbath is doing with Heaven and Hell.

Why do they continue to post this crap like its news? We get it. Plant doesn't want to do it. It will be news when he changes his mind.

This is not at all the same as Heaven and Hell. Dio actually sang for Black Sabbath. It's not like Iommi and the gang went and picked up the singer from Fall Out Boy and decided to go on tour.

Give it a rest. I saw Zep in the 70's at the band's peak. They were great then. But, now I would rather not see the band with another singer.

I agree! They are in no way what they used to be. I saw them on every tour and they are not even close to what they once were. They are rich enough. Let the legend endure as-is....

Well I for one would enjoy some new Jimmy Page/John Paul Jones stuff, a singer is optional! It is not right that these guys would not be allowed to play music simply because the naysayers think they should only have Robert Plant singing.

you could go ono and on. Whats wrong with having your talent stand on a new platform with differnt people perhaps create another brand. The legacy stays intact and we the comsumer get new music and an new name.

it would kinda tarnish their legacy (in my eyes, anyway) of they went out calling themselves Led Zeppelin if Plant wasn't involved. Sure, one could argue they shouldn't have called themselves that after Bonzo passed away but since they have his son Jason on drums, that's a bit more tolerable. But I agree with someone above (too lazy to scroll up) who said that if there were to go out and record and tour without Plant, then they should do like what Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler are doing with Heaven and Hell and not calling it Black Sabbath, to preserve the status quo. In Plant's defense, Allison Krause certainly is a looker with humongo ta-tas so I could definitely see his wanting to carry on with her. Besides, since he really can't hit those notes that he used to hit, combined with his age, 2 plus hours a night on the grueling schedule that Led Zep used to do probably doesn't look to appealing to him. At least he still is on good terms with the other guys so at least that's something.

"at least Tony Iommi understands this"

And I respect the hell out of him for this, BUT! how many versions of Black Sabbath did we have to go through before this? OK, Seventh Star, solo album, strong-armed by record company to make it a Sabbath disc... but then... a decade of great players and worker bees. Tony Martin was cool, but...

It was great when the original line-up got back together, and only now does he realize that he can't toy with the Black Sabbath name at will.

Oh, saw reunited Black Sabbath, summer 1998, played nothing but tracks from the first 4 discs. Tony dressed head to toe in black leather... one of the hottest days of the year. That was pretty friggin' metal!

I'm to old, says Robert, well age dosen't seem to stop the Rolling Stones, Ozzy, the Who. Robert needs to give something back to all of the Zepplin fans out there that have supported him throughout the years. The Police just did 150 dates, all we ask is for one last tour so all of the fans, not just a select few who got to see you at the O2 arena last year!

come on, please!

Age should stop some bands, they look silly now. The Stone, who I love, are a watered down version of the real band they were. They give effort(unlike the mid 70's), but they are 65! Plant in Zep was bombastic. he can't touch his old vocal range, so to play them as Zep is getting a 1/3 of what you should be. Plant realizes this. Keep the great legacy intact. Zep finished in 1980.
