SOIL Begins Recording New Album - Jan. 8, 2009
Chicago, Illinois-based heavy rock band SOIL has entered Groovemaster Recording studios in the group's hometown with Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, 3 DOORS DOWN, STAIND, FINGER ELEVEN) to begin recording its new album, to be released via Driven Music Group, the Phoenix, Arizona-based music label and entertainment company created by former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. SOIL's fifth studio album and the third CD Johnny K has produced for the band (alongside "Scars" and "Redefine"), the effort is currently untitled and is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2009 release. According to the band, the new album will be its "most unique and diverse to date."

Check out photos from the recording studio at link textthis location.

Fan-filmed video footage of SOIL performing a new song called "Like It Is" on July 2, 2008 at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania can be viewed below (clip uploaded by YouTube user "energizerbunny82").

SOIL's latest CD, "True Self", was released in May 2006 via DRT Entertainment. The follow-up to 2004's "Redefine" was recorded and mixed at Bomb Shelter studios in Los Angeles, California with producer Ulrich Wild (STATIC-X, TAPROOT).

that I really hate Soil. Anybody seen their performance on the Ozzfest dvd? Fucking terrible! If 10 people can post on here that Soil doesn't suck, I'll be amazed.

Boot go fucking die

SOiL were a great hard rock metal band.

I hope "diverse" means a varied group of songs, and not a bunch of pussy HIM-like ballads!

so diverse that that song sounds exactly like every other song of True Self, and what happened to that Rusty Cage album or whatever it was called that was supposed to come out before Shaun left, or did I just imagine that?

FAIL. Looks like someone forgot to tell the frontman it was promo photo day - ballcaps have no place in rock/metal shots unless you are playing softball.

Static-X...*facepalm*
