New STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Album Expected In Early 2010

The Pulse of Radio reports that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland has told Spin magazine that the band will release a new album in early 2010. In a new interview on his current solo tour, Weiland revealed that guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo have begun writing music, explaining, "Those guys have already been writing the instrumental music ... with STP, Robert, and Dean write the chords and riffs and then they bring stuff to me." Asked if he had heard any finished songs yet, Weiland added, "No, except for the stuff we jammed at sound check. And some of that was really cool ... So when I'm finished doing my thing, I'll hear what kind of ideas they have. And in the spring we'll be ready to record." Weiland said that the album, STP's sixth studio effort and first since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", will arrive early next year. He did not address a recent lawsuit filed against him and STP drummer Eric Kretz by the band's label, Atlantic Records, for breach of contract, nor did he reiterate his recently stated desire to record outside the major label system. STP reunited last year for a six-month tour that ended in late October. Since then Weiland has been touring behind his second solo album, "Happy In Galoshes", which came out in November. I HATED Velvet Revolver, but LOVE STP. Some guys are only goodwhen they work together. Without Weiland the DeLeo brothers can't whip up shit, but with Weiland in the band, they are one of the most awesome rock acts of the 90's.

I view S.T.P. like the Stones.
music can be all over the place ,
different eras,
country n' blues,
hard rock,
ballads,
anything!
That can put out album after album , 20 years from now ,
&
it will be good and have greatness there.

the Stones haven't released a good album since at least 1981. STP will probably release another good CD, but they pissed away alot of their prime. You're creative prime is much like your athletic prime. There are exceptions, but physically, mentally, its tough to match your youth. Most great rock bands usually have a couple classics, and about 6 or so good albums. yes, there are exeptions. (Beatles, who pack alot in 7 years).

I can't believe all the Scott Weiland ball washers around here. He, and everything he's touched, has been less than average at best. Mostly corporate dreck.
I"m glad for all of his fans, but dear God, please don't pollute the airwaves with anything off of the sure to be overhyped album. STP was, and still is overrated.

that STP did, was amazing. I think Tiny Gift could've been a little more well-produced, esp. with Scott's vocals, but STP is a great band.

i agree with you 100%. Core is my least favorite, its all up hill from there. If you're a guitar rock fan, this band meets all the criteria, diverse music, pushed the envelope, Dean Deleo is very underrated guitarist, one of the last guys in a big band to actually play(he's a bit of a Page rip off, but that's fine), their last album was one of this decades best rock albums, but it went unheard. each album very consistent, solid albums. Not many bands, even if you are a fan, have 6 albums that are all very good, only the real classic bands.
