SEPULTURA: 'We've Lost You' Video Available
- Feb. 21, 2009
|
|
"We've Lost You", the new video from Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed on December 15, 2008 in São Paulo, Brazil with director André Moraes. Check out photos from the video shoot at this location. A few of the pictures can also be viewed below. "A-Lex" — SEPULTURA's first LP to be recorded without either of the founding Cavalera brothers ( Max and Igor; on guitar/vocals and drums, respectively) — sold around 1,600 copies during its first week of release in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. SEPULTURA's previous CD, "Dante XXI", has sold 19,000 copies in the United States since its March 2006 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "A-Lex" (which stands for "no law" or "without law") is available in three versions: in a deluxe digipak with an embossed cover, in a regular jewel case and on a vinyl gatefold LP. On "A-Lex", SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser and his three colleagues, Derrick Green (vocals), Paulo Jr. (bass) and new addition Jean Dollabella (drums), have dedicated themselves to Anthony Burgess's book "A Clockwork Orange", creating an awesome thrash metal opus around this timeless and exciting subject. The material was produced by SEPULTURA and Stanley Soares at the Trama Studios in Sao Paulo and mastered by George Marino at New York's Sterling Sound studios. "A-Lex" is the first SEPULTURA album to feature new drummer Jean Dolabella, who joined the fold during the "Dante XXI" tour.

This album is pretty much same as the Dante one imo. It got some groove in some songs but it also has some fillers which gets boring.
How about a new producer?
Or get back with the brothers lol

While record sales are no indication of talent, 1,900 sold is a HUGE drop for a band that consistently had a buying audience of 20,000-50,000 sold in the first week.
This basically means that nobody gives a shit anymore for better or worse.
Too bad...Andreas works hard, but the band has lost its identity and it's purpose in all of this.

This albums sounds good and has some balls compared to a lot of albums released recently. If it was another band it would be hailed much higher. Maybe they should consider going under a new name although I do not care about the Cavaleras; they sold-out and left the band they started. They are the real losers in the story.

I am amazed by the power of disinformation. Someone stated the band sold 1900 copies in the 1st week and a lot of reader are pretty sure they have actually sold 1900 copies in totality !!!! IMO, this album is a good one and the video is interresing...

It's weird that not one comment is about the actual video. Since Max left the band, Sepultura may have lost their audience (which is a shame because they work hard) but they found a new creative streak, especially with their videos and album concepts. This video, along with mind war, bullet the blue sky and convicted in life have great cinematography and scripts, well done guys!

Incredible video, just amazing. Sepultura are truly excellent. The song's grest of course, just like the rest of the album. A-Lex is a masterpiece, as good (if not better) as Beneath the Remains, Arise or Chaos A.D.

got me to think that the video won't be great, but I loved what became of it. Good job guys.
By the way, the 1900 sold in 1st week in U.S. thing? Yeah maybe we should think about the shitty American economy and people losing jobs. Maybe America got in shitty state because people spent money irresponsibly on shit CDs and bands that don't work hard (and hence doesn't contribute to economy).
Let's see your favorite band attracting 15000 fans in Philippines or 60000 in Cuba.

I bought it the first week and really like it. have been a fan since Beneath the Remains and while I certainly would love to see Max and Igor back- I appreciate what Derek has brought ot the mix and actually really really like the direction the band has taken since he joined. I have no issues with where the band is currently. as far as thre sound or whether they should change their name or anything like that. Sepultura is still Sepultura to me. The music is badass regardless of who is in the band. The only thing I am bummed about is that so many fans of the band hae obviously moved on and it always seems to affect how much tourng the band does now in the states. WIsh more people would support this band as they have really interesting ideas, are still innovators to me, and have their own sound which while continues to evolve- is still imediately recognzabe as Sepultura. Come on people buy their cd or download the files- legally.

I really love A-lex, but i have to say "we lost you" is one of my least favorite tracks. Odd choice for a video. Sepultura really seem to love their mid-tempo songs though. More power to em.

Yes, it DOES refer to the fans. Maybe they chose this intentionally, huh? I don´t think so. This song is nothing special to me, very boring and monotonous, just a riff and the melodic part in the middle. The video itself is good. Despite Andreas´ efforts, this band has lost most of the REAL Sepultura fans, though I can see some still follow them. Props to them, but they´ve lost me, just my opinion.

Sepultura came from the underground scene - and this is where they belong. BTR, Arise, Chaos A.D. and Roots sold alot of albums - but this band belong musicaly to the underground scene of metal and extreme rock. They Don't belong to the world of trends and fashion (though one might think so because the fashion followed them after Roots), and even though the first few releases with Green were not so good (well, let say it, Againts was AWFUL and Nation was Ok in its best parts) - A-Lex is huge push through the musical barrier that blocked them since the departure from Max. They might not be the same band, but they are great musicians who writes great music none the less. I do miss Desperate Cry, Mass Hypnosis and Primitive Future as the next guy, but I refuse to fall into the trend of claiming that Sepultura's worth nothing without Max. 1900 records ? Well, maybe in the U.S. - I bet they are still legends in south America, and I wouldn't worry for them yet. JFAC sold 32,000 in the U.S. in their first week, and they came out from nowhere and put out so-so death metal album. Sepultura released an expirienced and wise metal release. If it takes them all their money and fame to be as good as they are today - I'm up for it as a music fan.

Paulo in 1991 on the cover of Arise and Paulo now :)))) He finally looks like a grown up, well done ! The guy has been in a successful metal band for twenty years, and hasn't received any credits as a bass player, no signature bass, nothin' ... pretty basic player, unfortunately ...

Pretty cool song. A simple tribute to Kubrick. I wish the video was more complex, but it's very basic and bland. Shots of Derrick headbanging go on way too long, and the AE work at the end is a bit awkward. The "Convicted In Life" video was much more creative and fun to watch.

The reason Sepultura without Igor or Max is bland and nothing more than average on the whole, is that Andrea, who is a good guitartist, doesn't write great riffs. And on top of that Derrick is okay, but nothing more. A typical growler without much identity or originality. And when he tried singing on previous albums, it was a good change, but he had trouble hitting the notes even in the studio...therefore he can't really sing either. I really liked Against (over Soulfly), but it got more boring after that album from all I heard. Now just listen to Cavalera Conspiracy, and it is so fresh, exciting, and brutally heavy it makes you want to drive fast, ,mosh, fight, or bang your head. It fucking pounds!! Just listen to Blood Brawl or Sanctuary. I saw them live in Calgary, and after that...there is no going back to the new Sepultura. They aren't even in the same league, so don't waste your time.

I'll comment on the video and song not the sales - Sepultura is a band in musical and creative decline.
I like Andreas personally...I just think he needs to spend some time exploring the what, why and how of Sepultura more.
Music is not an industry to work "hard" in, it's an industry to work creatively in and I find 3-4 songs on every CD I dig, but they seem somewhat confused and over/underthought other times.

I love how people are trashing Sep so much, meanwhile their retarded step-child drama queen of a hero has been making the exact SAME album over and over since 1997. Cavalera Conspiracy sounds just like Nailbomb with more of Max's stupid childish catch phrases. Those who say Derrick doesn't sound different are deaf, period. There NO ONE that sound like him.
Personally, I like ALL Sep, AND Soulfly/Nailbomb/CC....but jesus christ, the old fans are some serious tits.
