DREAM THEATER: New Album 'Teaser' Available - Mar. 1, 2009
DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy played a one-minute "teaser" for the band's forthcoming album on this past Friday's (February 27) edition of Eddie Trunk's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM. The clip is now available for streaming below.

DREAM THEATER is wrapping up work on its tenth studio album, due early summer via Roadrunner Records. The band commenced work on the as-yet untitled CD last October. Mike Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci are once again producing the LP, while engineer Paul Northfield will mix the record beginning this coming week.

Portnoy previously stated about the upcoming CD, "Imagine a DREAM THEATER album with 'A Change Of Seasons', 'Octavarium', 'Learning To Live', 'Pull Me Under' and 'The Glass Prison'... all on one album... COULD YOU HANDLE IT?? Excited? I sure am!!!!"

DREAM THEATER's "Chaos In Motion 2007/2008" double DVD set sold just under 9,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 2 on the Top Music Videos chart.

Never been a huge fan, based almost entirely on the singing style I guess, although I do like Train of Though quite a bit, but seeing them live was another story. Great show. Very impressive collection of individuals. Their live DVD's are always worth a spin. I look forward to their new album a chance.

That is a strong statement Mike, but don't exaggerate since you don't have to. Dream Theater fans will buy it no matter what. I know I will.

teaser is right! Couldn't tell much really except that it doesen't sound like ABBA. (-:
Definitely looking forward to this album as I always do with these guys. I do however hope that they lean more towards an old school progressive sound and noty as metal oriented. But then again that's what most prog is these days so.....

Images and Words....
now unless they "take the time" to really write a good album - they will not manage to release a REALLY good one !!! They all have good moments - but ....

I really can't wait till summer now. Sounds like there are going to be some brutal songs in this one like panic attack, which is awesome.

I agree with your last point though to me it was after "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence"... I thought it was great but not as good as their peak album "Scenes From A Memory". That album was flawless and amazing and they have never come close to it since and their last few albums have not really been to exciting. I think their last album had some moments stepped in the right direction but was not that great overall. I did like "Forsaken" a lot though.

wanted Eddie Trunk on the album, they should've given him something more interesting to say. Anyway, Roger Waters did it better with "Radio KAOS".

Each new album by DT = frikkin awesome

They just keep getting better, Labrie's the best example.
He used to be annoying on older albums but now he just suits the music in a better way. Same with the other guys, the band keeps improving in sound and -- great songs!!!

The problem with Dream Theater (whether or not you like the vocals) is that they started out almost TOO good. Images and Words, Awake, etc. were such masterpieces that they've had to spend the rest of their career competing with themselves.

I have bought every Dream Theater album to date....I was always hoping they'd continue to evolve in recent years. They've basically put out the same album 3 or 4 times in a row now, Im finally done hoping for something new, im not buying this one.
