ANTHRAX To Begin Mixing New Album Next Week - Apr. 21, 2009
ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has revealed via a posting on his MySpace page that the band will begin mixing its first new studio album in six years, "Worship Music", the first week of May. "We're gonna give birth to a really heavy baby," he writes.

ANTHRAX will bring its brand of New York metal to Oklahoma when it kicks off the third annual, four-day Rocklahoma festival set for July 9-12 in Pryor, Oklahoma. ANTHRAX will headline the festival's July 9 opening night.

ANTHRAX's Rocklahoma festival appearance will be in support of "Worship Music", scheduled for an October release, and the May 12 release of the limited edition, three-record vinyl reissue of the band's first album, "Fistful of Metal", which originally came out twenty-five years ago. "Worship Music" will mark the studio debut of Dan Nelson who joins long-time members Benante and Scott Ian (rhythm guitar), Frank Bello (bass) and Rob Caggiano (lead guitar).

The Rocklahoma festival will be ANTHRAX's only North American concert appearance until they launch their own major trek here later this year.

Scott Ian was interviewed by Altitude on the "black carpet" of this month's (April 7) Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. Watch the chat below.

These guys don't play power metal or they could scoop up Malmsteens singers after he fires them.

I just can't do Anthrax without Joey, sorry.

You said 'AND' call it a day, you meant 'OR'.

You said I 'WILL' support this release. you meant 'WILL NOT'.

Minor mistakes.

THEY NEED TO DELIVER A CHUNKY, THRASH METAL ALBUM! THE STYLE AND SOUND THAT MADE THEM POPULAR BACK IN THE LATE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S. NOTHING LESS, OR THEY WILL END LIKE METALLICA AFTER THE BLACK ALBUM.

I think the new Anthrax will be the surprise of the year and we all will quickly forget about Joey and John after hearing this album.

I also need to comment on Scott Ian...why does he still look so young? I'm at least 5 years younger than Scott but why does he look younger than me? He is without of doubt getting a lot of cosmetic surgery. All those years of hard touring and he doesn't have one wrinkle on his face!

Thanks for the link! I stand corrected. Granted, that was only a short snippet of sound, but it definitely backs up Scott's comment. Now, I'm really pumped about this album!

The only thing going for this album of being remotely listenable are the musicians. Every live clip Ive heard of this guy sounded horrible. He cant pull off the Joey era worth a damn. Then again, John couldnt do it either. John at least sounded decent live as well as on album.

I will download this to hear it, but the chances of me being impressed by it are slim. Sad to see one of my fav old-school bands end up this way.

Anthrax should go on tour with both Joey and John. First perform the entire "Sound of White Noise" album with John (forget about all the albums they've done afterwards), then do songs from "Spreading", "Among", "State" and "Persistance" with Joey (maybe even invite Neil Turbin to do a couple of "Fistfull of Metal" tunes").

Anthrax also should look for a decent manager (Rod Smallwood?) who could actually reboost their career, and sign with a decent record company (resign with Island/Universal?). Megaforce doesn't mean anything anymore these days. By the way, are they still on Nuclear Blast in Europe?

Record an old-school thrash album with Joey and at the same time record a "Sound of White Noise" type of album with John. The best of both worlds, so to speak.

I've always liked Anthrax. It would be sad to see them end their career playing in front of a few hundred people. Cause I don't think they will be able to recapture their old status with Dan Nelson.

Album should be out by about September of 2015. By which time Scott and Charlie will be getting around on stage with zimmer frames.

And that's metal as fuck.
