New KISS Album Nearing Completion
- May 12, 2009
|
|
KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was a guest on today's (Tuesday, May 12) edition of "John DeBella Show" on Philadelphia's classic rock station 102.9 WMGK. During the interview, Stanley revealed that the new KISS album is almost finished and will come out in September. Paul once again said that it sounds like a typical '70s KISS LP and he said that KISS will promote the new CD with a new tour that will feature the biggest show they have ever done. The program can now be streamed online at this location. KISS' upcoming U.S. and Canadian tour will be the world's first to put fans in charge of where their favorite artist plays. By partnering with Eventful, the leading social media company for events, fans will "Demand" where KISS will perform on their latest trek across the top-voted North American markets beginning this September. No matter where the fans say — from stadiums to cornfields — if there are enough votes, KISS will be there! And in order to keep the competition fair for smaller cities, final site selection will weigh population size versus total votes. Fans across the U.S. and Canada can cast their votes at www.eventful.com/KISS to have their town included on the KISS 2009 North American tour. Fans are able to vote, and check the tally of what cities are in the lead, 24/7 across the web at the previous sites; as well as on KISS' MySpace and Facebook, Ticketmaster's KISS page, VH1Classic.com, and many more.

It'll tank and those guys will have to stop being greedy and make it equal for the real members of the band that belong there.
I bet Gene and Paul are getting almost all of the money for this record while the others are treated as lowly studio musicians. At least the fake Peter Criss has Alice Cooper to make a check with as well. Fake Ace, doesn't have job security like that, as far as I know.

I hope this album is a good one. Psycho Circus was surprisingly one of Kiss' best albums ever... I just hope whatever they release now isn't a nostalgic self-parody like some older bands have been doing recently.

Enough about "fake" and "scab" and jealous rants about how successful KISS have been... as if Gene or Paul owe Ace or Peter ANYTHING... yes...love 'em... but they screwed it for themselves... they were given "equal" status ... when they QUIT , leaving Paul and Gene holding the bag, they gave up that status... you start a business in your garage with somebody, show up late... do as little as you have to... show up stoned and then QUIT... that company becomes huge after you're gone are you entitled to come back and demand an equal share?... HELL no...
I hope this new album returns to the 70s KISS sound that put them on the map... if it does... there's a whole new resurgence afoot in my opinion... and I want new outfits and a new stage show !! YEAH !! Do it OLD skool !!

sort of...I'm really (as a fan of 70's KISS) looking forward to this release. All I need is a 3 or 4 burners on this album (at least!), with some extra Rock and Roll cheese and a huge heaping of bombast, to wash it down! Come on KISS....you can do it. (I know there not reading this) and as for you Ace and Peter compleatest, hold on to the dream, cuz Eric and Tommy are KISS now as well. Let us move on. Thank You. Now then, let the thunder roar, come September.

C'mon people. Tommy Thayer is KISS? Doesn't say much for KISS. i liked Bruce. He had his own style. Eric Singer is a great drummer. I can live with him. (although he looks stupid in Peter makeup.) Tommy Thayer has two styles. Ace's, which he does passably, and his own, which is boring. Think of this: He was the guitarist in Black and Blue. They tanked. Why? BORING. THEREFORE, what will his own style in KISS be? BORING.

I'll believe it when I hear it. Life long fan but come'on... It's a little rushed (even for these guys) and they've changed (for better of for worse) as musicians & songwriters. Psycho Circus was a complete 're-write' of Destroyer/Love Gun that ended up sounding like a Disney channel 'rock' album. I hope to God I'm wrong but...

The band must have slipped you a mix the rest of us have never heard... I was very disappointed. Title track was OK, "Into the Void" rocked... rest of it sounded very forced. But, hey, if you got your money's worth, more power to you.

Eric Singer is a very good drummer, but Tommy Thayer is a hack. If he wasn't in Kiss he'd be working in a guitar shop somewhere in L.A.

I am surprised people think Tommy Thayer is any good. He hasn't done ANYTHING so far that anyone from any number of KISS tributes can't do just as well as he. He may do well, but, as I noted before, he was pretty much run of the mill in Black and Blue. He was one of the studio players on Psycho Circus. Whoopdie doo. I like Gene and Paul's solo albums, I may like the new CD, but I won't get it before I hear it first.

I was a major KISS fan until the new line-up. I don't object to KISS moving on after the departure of Ace and Peter. Lots of bands lose original members (twice) and go on to fine albums and tours. And it doesn't even really bother me that KISS hasn't recorded a decent album in a very, very long time (sorry, Psycho Circus was terrible). I would even go to see a KISS show today if not for the fact that Gene and Paul are dupping the fans with these two "stand-ins".
If $tanley and $immon$ really believed the fans would accept Eric and Tommy, they would have given them each their own KISS identity, as they did for Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent. However, bringing in two stand-in's, dressing them in Ace and Peter's costumes and make-up and call yourself KI$$ is an insult to those of us who followed the band for so long.
KI$$ will never see another dollar from my wallet!

You Tommy bashers still kill me, you say he isnt any good because he tanked with Black and Blue, well guess what, there are great guitarist that play local clubs in every city every night that are better than most that make it big, most will probably never get seen or make it big, Tommy has made it, and he can play, They are still a headliner after 35 years and going strong. Rock on KISS!!!!!!!!!!

Has Thayer really "made it", or is he justing stepping into someone else's (platform) shoes? Remember, this guy started out as Gene's go-boy and hasn't played a note of original material that has been released to date. I don't know if that qualifies as saying he can play. Yes, he can copy someone else's work very well, but that does not mean he has "made it"!

I do see both sides of making it, but if i got the call to play in Ace's shoes, i am there, you dont get too many chances in this world like that, can you hnestly say that you would turn it down, just because you cant play your own stuff???

I'm not saying he should have turned down the gig. Hell, if $tanley and $immon$ are paying him a decent wage, why the hell not step into Ace's costume and make-up and play the role! BUT.. I don't think that necessarily makes him a credible guitar player. He's essentially in the world's biggest cover band right now, and any number of guys could have filled that role, he was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time!

...as KISS always does.
KISS has always been about Gene n' Paul.
Peter and Ace were my personal favourite bandmates/employees.
But there's no denying that Gene n' Paul still have it, musically, while Peter and Ace no longer do and simply (and unfortunately) cannot keep up with Gene n' Paul.
I've seen it myself.
KISS will always be KISS as long as it's nucleus, namely Gene n' Paul, are in the band. Period.
Haters will continue to hate because KISS is an easy target. Sadly, nothing will change despite this album and tour kicking major historical ass.

Anyone can play someone else's music.
This is going to be a colossal financial failure. 70's Kiss was ground breaking, legendary. 80's Kiss after Ace? Nothing. A few good tunes in there along the way, but they became the same as every other band.
The point? Gene and Paul have been without Ace for 20 years, and what have they accomplished? Nothing. How is this going to change anything? Bring Ace back and go on tour, and you have 30,000 seat sellouts in 30 minutes. Ace leaves, $cab Ki$$ emerges as the world's greatest "imposters playing to the greatest quantity of empty seats" and "greatest band of imposters to ever open for Aerosmith".
Hate Ace all you want, but he's the real draw here. Paul and Gene have been on their own for 20 years, and they still can't draw dick in the USA. This CD will sell poorly. Real old school Kiss fans abandoned this band after Ace's last departure. Piss poor attendance and hiding outside the USA for 5 years tells you something.

DLR_EngineRoom - I respect what you are saying, and there is no arguing with the die-hard KISS fan! And if you are truly happy with the new line-up, album and tour, enjoy!
As a life-long fan, I am not a "hater". But I do take exception to being dupped. Yes, Peter and Ace are no longer in the band. Fine. Bring in new players and be KISS with a new lineup. It's happened many times in the past and was perfectly acceptable. But don't try to pass off two other members as Ace and Peter! That just stinks!

The new cd will likely be OK hard rock. Tommy Thayer will not bring anything new to the table. Simmons and Stanley are KISS. I would be willing to bet that had KISS started in 73 with Thayer, there would not be a discussion going on right now, cuz KISS would have been long gone and forgotten. The original lineup was like a lightning strike. Right players, right songs at the right time. I hope the new lineup does ok on it's own merits, but I am doubtful. As I said, I will listen to a friend's copy to decide if it's worth it, as KISS has tried to dupe us so many times. (Psycho Circus)

No way you can compare a new cd to their 70's heyday. It will not sell like that. Hardly anyone sells like that anymore. To the poster that said KISS has done nothing since Ace left, you are misguided by your own love for Ace. KISS sold 15 million albums during the eighties....yes even without Ace. How many did Ace sell in the eighties? I'm not knocking Ace...I love him too, but to say no Ace, no KISS is mildly amusing....lol.

a forty-plus old guy here, been a total nonfan since the symphony with phony Ace. When simminz and stinkley can stand on their own four feet and not rely on images of previous members, kiss will be kiss again. until they do, all we have to look forward to is a tribute album with a few original members. really, you little kids who didn't grow up with the band like some of us, well I can see how you wouldn't even care if simminz and stinkley were even IN the band, all that matters is the makeup...so gimme a break, dress simminz as Ace, paul as gene, etc. who cares? my vote sez: gene and paul IN makeup on the cover of the new cd, eric and tom WITHOUT makeup, possibly holding masks of ace and peter (sort of like unmasked album) OR NO MAKEUP UNLESS IT IS NEW > a new album should mean NEW ideas. STOP pretending. do you really think tha ac/dc would record an album with an imposter dressed as the schoolboy? do you really think that a new beatles album would be acceptable with scabby dummies dressed as lennon and harrison...? fuck the fakes. ANOMALY by Frehley is the album this year that will sound like 70's kiss, because THAT is the guy with the sound, not 'little-phake-scab-diet-kiss-lite'

bumbarf = smartest guy on this board. The rest....a 70's Kiss album? The funny thing is that no one has singled out Pete here, only Ace.
Anomoly will be a thousand times better than this shit. Want the first clue? Scheme Gene wants it out quick. So that he beats Ace. He doesn't want a new Kiss cd living in the limelight of what he's probably heard himself. Gino knows that if they beat Frehley out of the gate, then the attention is on KI$$ and not Ace.
As far as the arguement of "Well Kiss sold 15 million without Ace"....really? Look those numbers up and RESEARCH it. Those figures Scheme have been feeding you are a lie. ANd the only reason Kiss sold anything in the 80's was because they wanted to mirror Bon Jovi's success. FACTS ARE FACTS...and LIES ARE KISS ALBUM SALES
