DREAM THEATER: 'A Rite Of Passage' Now Available Via iTunes - May 13, 2009
"A Rite of Passage", the new single from progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER, is now available from iTunes at this location.

Video footage of DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy discussing the contents of the deluxe collector's edition box set version of the band's forthcoming album, "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" can be viewed below.

"Black Clouds & Silver Linings" is scheduled for release on June 23 via Roadrunner Records.

In addition to the standard-version CD, "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" will also be available on vinyl LP, as well as a three-disc, special-edition CD that will include the full album, a CD of instrumental mixes of the album and a CD of six cover songs.

DREAM THEATER commenced work on "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" — the band's second for Roadrunner, following up 2007's "Systematic Chaos" — in October of last year.

Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci are once again at the helm as producers, while Paul Northfield mixed the record.

"Black Clouds & Silver Linings" track listing:

01. A Nightmare to Remember
02. A Rite of Passage
03. Wither
04. The Shattered Fortress
05. The Best of Times
06. The Count of Tuscany

Portnoy previously stated about the upcoming CD, "Imagine a DREAM THEATER album with 'A Change Of Seasons', 'Octavarium', 'Learning To Live', 'Pull Me Under' and 'The Glass Prison'... all on one album... COULD YOU HANDLE IT?? Excited? I sure am!!!!"

The "A Rite of Passage" video can be viewed below.

Nice chorus but pretty dull otherwise.

Can I just add that I really wish they'd stop trying to sound "heavy". Because that's exactly what it sounds like, a band trying to sound heavy. It sounds so damn forced.

It says a lot that the best bit in A Nightmare to Remember is the soft bit that starts at around 4ish minutes

I agree wish they would just try to be dream theater again and especially stop Mike from singing shitty background call out vocals.

I think they meant that you can download the song on intunes by paying for it. Which is completly fine. Then when the rest of the album is released you can complete your purchase for cheaper. I just can't see all the time and effort it takes to get in the car, drive to Best Buy, drive home, upload the cd onto my itunes, download it to my ipod and never touch the cd again. My time is too valuble and all that extra packaging is bad for the environment. True Dream Theater fans understand this. By the way we don't like every band on earth either.

I LOVE the "New World Order" theme...

It's scary what goes on behind the scenes...

The Bushes, Obama, etc. = all the same... One agenda, One World Gov't. is the goal...

The European Union is in place... Next come the Asian Union, African Union & North American Union (North America, Canada & mexico... made possible by laws passed by W. There's already been mention of the new currency being "The Amero." That's why they Gov't. is trying so hard to flush the dollar down the toilet...)

Once those 4 unions are in place, will they be come one, under the Anti-Christ? Will your info be stored in a supercomputer called THE BEAST (already in existence)?

Will you be issued a Global ID card (containing the "Number of THE BEAST," literally?)

Who knows... I'm just throwing all that out there... I find it scary/interesting to contemplate...

Side note: Check out John Kennedy's final speech, where he spoke out against secret societies with secret agendas... It took place shortly before he was killed...

Incedently, George Bush Sr. was head of the CIA at the time... Hmmm...

Also, look up George W. Bush's geneology (which, reportedly shows that he's related directly to Obama, Palin, Chaney, princess Di, etc...)

Also look up "Jack The Ripper: The Royal Reason" for the Princess Diana connection...

All of this can be found on youtube. Not trying to freak anyone out but, it's interesting... all the connections...
