After months of pre-production, reactivated Los Angeles rockers RATT have just entered the studio to start recording their first studio release in 10 years. The CD is being produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, whose credits include PUDDLE OF MUDD, CHEVELLE, SALIVA, LIMP BIZKIT, ALTER BRIDGE and THREE DAYS GRACE, to name a few.
Commented the group: "Bobby [Blotzer] kicked some serious ass on the drum tracks, they are done!
"Robert Crane is finishing up bass tracks as we write this tonight/today.
"The band is recording well into the early mornings.
"Warren [DeMartini] and Carlos [Cavazo] on guitars will start after the weekend shows.
"The band is tracking 12-14 new songs.
"Stephen [Pearcy, vocals] will start tracking lead vocals next week and backup vocals.
"The songs are just what you expect from RATT and what the band wants you to hear! The producer (Elvis) is doing a great job and giving the band 'the big rock sound!'
"The studio is class AAA and right on the beach; a good vibe and some serious ass-kickin' Ratt 'N' Roll is at hand here."
RATT will spend a month or so recording the new album in Mathews, Virginia — the first time the band has steped outside of Los Angeles to track a new CD in 20-plus years. A late 2009 release via Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records is expected.
RATT and EXTREME have teamed up to bring you this summer's most rockin' tour lineup. The tour, which will feature sets from both bands with RATT closing, kicks off on July 12 in Amarillo, Texas and runs through August 7 in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. It will cross the U.S. and cover 16 markets, with more to be announced soon. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of their landmark debut "Out Of The Cellar", RATT will be playing the album in its entirety.
Over the past two years, RATT has toured the world in support of their releases "Tell The World - The Very Best Of Ratt" and their first-ever DVD, "Videos from the Cellar - The Atlantic Years". During this time, the current lineup of Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini, Bobby Blotzer, Robbie Crane and Carlos Cavazo played shows in Australia, Colombia and Peru for the first time in their careers.

RATT made some great songs, back in the day.. for us to expect the same fire from mid-40-50 year old men is ridiculous. What is their point of context now? Erectile dysfunction and worrying about having enough money to retire in 15 years.
DiMartini is still a great blues guitarist.. I think he was the greatest bluesy guitarist from the genre.
Let's be honest, here. This package is just a big nostalgia trip for losers who are approaching middle-life. Let's go look at beer gutted guys, wearing their wife-beaters to show those manly tribal tatts. Or, oogle at the 39 year old wanna-be MILFs who are trying waaay too hard to get attention.
No thanks. The idea of RATT bores me to tears. Irrelevant.

clearly the best "glam metal" or "hair metal" heavy metal band of the 80's. The new album will be progressive metal I imagine, but it will be decent. Seeing them live this summer!!
GWAR OWNS 2009!!

COMMENT | dimartini a blues guitarist? posted by : broham 6/18/2009 6:33:09 PM
i think that's debatable. he's definitely 'bluesy' nowadays, but the guy is and always has been a fantastic l.a. styled shredder along the lines of lynch, jake e lee, schenker, etc. he 'matured' as time went on, but live he always brings his A game. the bluesy inflections are just an addition to his already complete repertoire.

Still tons better than the 00's cheese we're dealing with now. And don't pretend that all the wannabe in flames/soilwork copy bands that all sound the same aren't cheesy. Oh and every other vocalist thinking they have to growl to sound relevant? Most end up sounding the same anymore... nothing to really differentiate them. That's cheesy. Hell, I can't even watch headbanger's ball anymore without fast forwarding through most of it... sooo many of the bands sound nearly identical and unspectacular. Cliche after cliche after bloody cliche!!!
And on another huge note, emo--- the whole genre--- The cheesiest of all!!!
In other words... cheese doesn't have an era, but every era has its cheese!!!

Ok then... can you tell us what is relevant?
