RANDY RHOADS Documentary Maker Seeking Candid Photos - Nov. 4, 2009
Director Peter M. Margolis of Dakota Pictures is rapidly approaching the final stages of editing and post-production on "Randy Rhoads: Last Train Home" (working title), the long-awaited documentary film on the life of celebrated rock guitarist Randy Rhoads (OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT). Margolis is reaching out to anyone who may have a candid photo of Rhoads to contribute to the film. He seems to have an abundance of photos of Randy on stage but would love to have some more off-stage photos of Randy, such as Randy in a hotel lobby, at a record signing or backstage at a concert. Anything in focus would be greatly appreciated.

If you have anything similar to what is described above, e-mail Peter at his MySpace page.

Margolis and his crew started filming on March 19, 2007, when hundreds of fans gathered at Rhoads' grave in San Bernardino, California to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his death. Since then, Margolis has filmed more than 100 interviews, with Rhoads' family and friends and people who worked with him. The list of names includes Kelli Garni, the original bassist in QUIET RIOT; Carlos Cavazo, the guitarist in the "Metal Health" line-up of QUIET RIOT; Sarzo and his brother Robert, who was considered as a replacement for Rhoads in Ozzy's band; Jodi Raskin, Rhoads' girlfriend at the time of his death; Grover Jackson, whose company made Rhoads' signature guitars; Randy's brother Kelle, who's wearing the silver "RR" ring Rhoads had on when he died; and MOUNTAIN guitarist and '70s legend Leslie West, one of Rhoads' idols.

A number of photos taken at Randy Rhoads's gravesite at the Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, CA on March 19, 2007 have been posted online at this location.

In 1982, Rhoads, the then-lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE, and two others were killed at Flying Baron Estates, just outside Leesburg, Florida, when their small plane struck Osbourne's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion.

Be ready to sign your photos off for no compensation or guarantees whatsoever. Oh, and if you don't reply for a while, they might send you another email calling you an idiot.

Yep, it's bullshit.

I want to check that out but I don't think Randy was all that. His attack was weak and his runs were all just up and down scales plain and boring to me. The guy could play for sure but he did not shred. That is just my opinion.

A friend of mine just did a Randy Rhoads road trip and visited all the places Randy had been in his last days up to and including the exact spot Randy died. He spent alot of time with Deloris and Kelley Rhoads in their home and music school and also saw the room Randy taught in. It was an amazing time for him and I wish I could have gone as well. If you have Facebook, here's all the pics Johnee took: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/album.php?aid=125006&id=515111649

I'm so glad I grew up in the era of Randy/Ozzy in my early teens...Hell I didn;t even know who Black Sabbath was...I just remember hearing "Crazy Train" on the rock radio when it came out and it sounded so cool and different from anything else out there. I got to meet Rudy Sarzo (bassist)around 1987-1988 (while he was playing for Whitesnake) at the Ft. Worth Texas Guitar Show. I remember Pantera was there and still in their spandex and big hair just prior to "Cowboys From Hell" release in a booth just down from Rudy. I met both Pantera and Rudy. Anyhows...I asked Rudy Sarzo "What was it like to play with Randy?" as he signed a White/Peavy poster and he looked up seemingly suprised and said "Unbelievable" in a strong Cuban accent and he said "Please come over here and wait O.K.?". He finished signing autographs and he talked to me for another 10 minutes about playing with Randy Rhoads. Rudy was so genuine in his respect for Randy. It just seemed to really make his day that someone asked him about something other than his autograph or Whitesnake ya know? Randy Rhoads changed the musical world...no doubt... Just to meet a person who has shared recordings /stage/life with Randy...I'll never forget!!!

To the idiots that said Randy was simple and his runs were weak and his scales were up and down. DUDE, he was not around in 2001, he was not around in 1988, he was BEFORE all that BS. In his day, and at that time, he was the shredder, there as no one like him. Yes guitarist have expanded greatly, but all that has to start some where. It started there! Get your history right.

what you just mentioned, to me, is what makes Randy that much better than those typewriters. Randy not only could "Shred", but could rock and...yes, write a riff and song. Ozzy owes his career to him, and he admits as much....what the shredders that miss out on, most times, is the sense of rock. They look great tossing their pink guitars behind their backs, catching it, and not missing a note as they blaze down the neck playing their Esteinian Scale to the 3rd power...yet you're left with what...great, you can play a weird scale fast. zzz

You're a total fucking moron and absolutely CLUELESS about music theory or the ART of playing an instrument. Randy Rhoads IS and always WILL be THEE premier innovator of metallic guitar shredding. He perfected the art of incorporating classical music into rock music. If it weren't for him there would be none of your current day heros. He was WAY before his time and if he were alive today he would shred ALL over the likes of players such as Dimebag (no disrespect) or Zakk Wylde. Get a clue, douchebag...

Was Bob Daisley interviewed for this?

He did songwriting with Randy on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. I would love to see him in this.

Ozzy was probably falling over on himself getting fucked up.

Zoo Keeper 666, Bob Daisley was interviewed, but he hasn't heard back from them.

This is what he said about it, "I haven't heard from the people from Dakota Films in a while, 'not sure what's happening with that. They're not very nice people and I haven't signed off for my interviews to be used so maybe I won't even be in it."

the truth is, this guy probably wrote the majority of the stuff on the fisrt two ozzy records! i loved randy's work, but hated his jackson/80's metal sound.

i saw sabbath on the "never say die" tour, (with vh opening) and no matter what the prognosticators say...they still kicked ass!

ozzy was washed up then like he is now! everything was/is let's get the guy with the most current sound. his wife has made every decision since 1980! otherwise he would have been forgotten like a lot of his fellow drunks and druggies!

that said, randy was a great musician and would still be here today if the osbournes didin't sacrifice him!

fuck ozzy and his wife!
