EVILE: MIKE ALEXANDER Memorial Shows Announced - Nov. 5, 2009
Two memorial shows for EVILE bassist Mike Alexander, who passed away on October 5, 2009 while on tour with the band in Sweden, have been announced:

Dec. 07 - Leeds, UK - Rio's
Dec. 08 - London, UK - Underworld

The band states: "The entrance fee will be £5 minimum as a donation to Mike's family. To raise more for Mike's family, we will be holding a tombola/raffle. Items will include gifts from bands from around the world — EXODUS, OVERKILL, HIRAX and many more being confirmed every day. Raffle tickets will be £10 with all takings going to the family."

The medical examiners have determined that Mike died of a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lung.

EVILE has launched a tribute web site for Mike Alexander at this location.

EVILE's sophomore album, "Infected Nations", was released on September 21 in Europe and September 22 in the U.S. via Earache Records.

This is without doubt tragic and a shame.

But...

I am still trying to figure out what his family need the money for though, funerals aren't that expensive (recently had to organise one myself). Any ideas? I don't mind giving as long as I know why.

I'm guessing Mike's work with Evile was his family's primary source of income.

He left a 6 year old girl and 2 step sons. Children cost money, and without a Dad there's half the income their family would have had normally. I'm sure you can understand why people would want to make sure their family are provided for as much as they can to ease the burden.

I spoke to OL at damnation, and he said they're trying to raise money as there was a lot of screw ups in repatriation and stuff with sweden, also funeral costs, and also to have some money for his 3 kids, as he was doing the band for them

I wasn't disrespectful in anyway having lost someone close to me very recently. Thanks to the posters who realised this and were kind enough to fill in the blanks, those three kids will need all the help they can get.

RIP.
