A particularly ripping release, MAN MUST DIE's "No Tolerance For Imperfection" could very well serve as the link between the LAMB OF GOD set and subscribers to the Relapse Records catalog. Undaunted, and perhaps inspired, by the rash of negativity that greeted their last effort, "The Human Condition", the Scottish slaughter-mongers fired back at the naysayers with one incredibly heavy and well-rounded album.

Taking an approach that blends hyperactive tech-death with the more bludgeoning side of the classic stuff, MAN MUST DIE do a phenomenal job in mixing up the blast, groove and melody without making any of the transitions sound forced or faked. About a minute into the opening title track, the sheer magnitude of the ass-kicking MAN MUST DIE has in store becomes blatantly apparent. This dizzying display of breakneck riffing and drumming is skillfully mixed with chugging rhythms and homicidal vocals, and the shit just gets better as the album plays on. Unbridled intensity is the best way to describe tracks like "Gainsayer" and "Kill It, Skin It, Wear It", with the former being an exercise in hyperspeed melody and the latter easily standing out as the disc's undisputed hit. Far from being one-trick ponies, the lads muscle it up on LAMB OF GOD-like "It Comes In Threes" and slow it down with some moody instrumental action on "What I Can't Take Back". In case this brief change of pace causes your mind to wander a bit, "Reflections From Within" will reaches out on slams your ass right back into place with more death metal mastery, dynamic songwriting and jaw-dropping fretwork.

For a release like "No Tolerance For Imperfection" to be considered anything but an amazing example of where modern death metal is heading would be criminal. With the amount of razor-sharp technicality, attention-grabbing melody and creative song structuring found on this album one would be hard-pressed to find a dull moment within these eleven tracks. This is one monster of an album that stands up and dares you to knock it down. Good luck.

said, the album is amazing. I pre-ordered it from relapse and still spin it regularly. They really deserve some exposure. Great lyrics and it definitely has a huge crunch to it. Highly recommended.

Loved these guys from disc one and can't wait to pick this one up. My main disappointment with them has been the constant cancellations of their stateside shows. Three times I've had tickets with MMD on the bill and three times they've cancelled.

C'mon guys - gotta show some love stateside. You're burning bridges.

Yet again these guys lay down the fucking law! Amazing album! Amazing band! Awesome tight as fuck live shows! There's no point in saying the shit doesn't get any better than 'Reflections From Within', as these fucks will just prove me wrong with the next album.

Major kudos to Matt Holland, he really kicked the bands ass into hyperdrive & his drumming just gives way more edge, power & delivery to the music.

Keep up the good work guys!

Album of the fuckin' year!!!

"I tried to like this album, but I just couldn't get into it. Too much metalcore-styled stuff and not enough death metal. Mumakil are what these guys should sound like."

Why the fuck should MMD sound like Mumakil? Just to make you happy? OK, so you don't like No Tolerance For Imperfection, but don't try to pretend you have an open mind when it sounds like you want all bands to sound the same. Mumakil are a cool band certainly, but why the fuck should there be 2 or more of them running around playing the same music?

Also, what's with this 'Metalcore-styled stuff' you claim to hear? I don't hear ANY of that shit in Man Must Die's music? Are we listening to the same album? What the fuck are you sniffing? The asshole of Kerrang / Metal Hammer Publications no doubt, filling your head with corporate gobshite...

When Dee Snider took on the PRMC years ago when they tried to impose censorship on Twisted Sister's music, he told Tipper Fucking Gore that the lyrics to their song, 'Under The Blade' was simply inspired by their guitarists throat operation & that Tipper F Gore must have a very diseased mind to begin with to actively seek perversion in the song to actually find it in the first place. Thereby she and her cronies at the PMRC were exposed for having the audacity to be offended by their own depraved minds & trying to impose the blame upon others.

A lesson is to be learned there, kid...

I absolutely loved The Human Condition and this one doesn't quite manage to surpass it for me, but its still early days and a great album.

Nice and Heavy and a great live band to boot!!!!!

This is a tight band and I mean as in instruments working together .
Some parts seemed rushed for me but all together I'm having a real good time with this . I'll check out some earlier stuff.

This was a definite good listen. These guys know how to play some death metal. I would really like to see them live sometime. Hide the Knives is one of the best tracks on the album, in my opinion. Solid 8/10.

I'm not normally a fan of this style, but I heard "Kill It, Skin It, Wear It" on Sirius Liquid Metal and it stood out as something I had to hear more of. Some of the blast beat stuff wears me out, but this is one of those bands that offers so much more....check out "It Comes In Threes" for some awesome drum/guitar riffs!
